hi guys, see the refresh is up and people asking about 5870 cards, well when i clicked to chat to ask about a few things i asked about them and if i bought the 4870 cards would i be able to upgrade at a later date and he said yes and said you can buy from them and they will fit in ok...i pushed him on it and he said def yes to all ,how much these guys know im not sure but thas what he told me...before i oderi will ask again and make a copy of the convo XD
-
yes get it in writing lol
-
lol yeah i will
but he was right for the refresh for i7 he said 2nd week in jan and here it is
-
Oh jesus, how depressing. I just spec'd up the refresh with the best settings I'd choose to get, and it came back as costing less than what I paid for my current broken bad latency M17x. I paid the equivilent of $5,273 for it.
Blah, what are the odds Dellalienware will be sued over selling faulty goods and forced to send a free refresh to people with 'old' M17x's? lol
And erm, is the reason the Nvidia cards aren't an option on the site because they've decided this is a big problem area for latency issues or is the 280m considered old already? -
Probably more to do with the system board change.
-
-
280M is EOL and is probably the main reason it's not available. The 285M will be taking it's place.
-
Finally RGB LED
-
Even the ASUS and MSI notebooks announced that will be using the Mob. 5 770 aren't looking to start shipping until February....and I wouldn't be surprised if most of the orders don't get filled until March or April.
Both of those companies also manufacture their own ATI cards.
You'll likely see the new GPUs sometime at or after CeBit in March just like with Clevo. -
the refresh shows up when i just go to the alienware website but when i go through the site to get my college student discount, it don't show up. This really blows and i hope it gets added. anyone else notice this?
-
some have called and recieved thier discounts that way
-
You can call EPP and have them push your order, it looks like it might another day or 2 before the website updates.
-
Definitely waiting on the 5870. Might as well future proof with DX11.
Turbine is bringing out a DX11 client for Lord of the Rings Online in Q1 this year, and I'm a big LoTRO fan. It's already a gorgeous game, soon it'll be crazy! -
-
-
Anybody know if the 5870 will run in CrossfireX?
-
Perhaps what I should have said was, why by something to use for the next 12-24 months with a DX10 GPU when DX11 is here now. -
-
You can sell the old gpu to offset the cost and never buy it from dell. -
The cards can be bought from Dell usually for about $1000. That's usually how much they sell them for. You can easily sell your 4870's for close to $500 each which means it's going to cost out of pocket money barely $300 at most.
-
I'd like to see a benchmark for that game.
-
-
Maybe they'll release a benchmark program for it before the release.
-
-
do you have to buy from dell though?
-
I'm sure you could pick them up on ebay or something... a friendly reseller perhaps.
-
Question. why is the red an extra $100? Is the aluminum finish/texture any different from the silver? has anyone actually seen both?
-
-
-
Australian m17x version Launch on 25th january, confirmed with 3 dell reps
btw red is free in aus lol -
It was free on US site earlier. Not any more though.
-
lets hope they give us ATi cards to us aussies..not nivida rubbish!
-
I'm from the UK
-
-
i didnt think the US dell delivers outside US ???
if that was the case i would be buying from US right now, but warranty purposes and all is just a total waste of time -
if u can buy from the US i would do that too, the exhcnage rate right now is up to 90 US per 1 Dollar, which means you would be saving a fair amount seening its so much cheaper over there, how long it takes to ship out and how much the shipping cost would be another worry and also the warranty, but i am 100% share the warranty can be used even if you are overseas
-
-
-
yes, but do you have to send it to dell and they go through it THEN you get your laptop back???
in aus dell/AW send out the new laptop, then you send your old one back -
Uni starts for me at march and i am moving on campus so i need a laptop asap
does anyone know if they will have the ATI cards for australia instead of Nivida ? -
-
-
-
when i told the rep i was speaking too that i think its released 25th of Jan, he sounded very suprised....im thinking feb.
the price of the USA and AUS machines works out to be very similar once you
add GST on it when you import....
the big difference is: us aussies will get nvidia shoved down our throuts -
ahaha so true, for what i payed for my q9000 dual 260m's here i could of got it maxed out from US
-
that was 3 days ago, no qoute, but in that 3 day time i realised, hey my duel 8800 ultras don't need upgrading, might as well buy a laptop instead cause i don't have one.
Call up dell, LOLS gets the same guy, Patrick.
ordered my Mx17, told him to send me a quote so i can pay. That was 4 hours ago. THANK GOD there is a delay cause i found out I7 was going to be out. I called patricks back, told him to never mind that quote i am going to wait. for I7, and he tells me it wont be available until feb and he doesn't know if its mid or late cause there is no news -
Cheers,
Mick -
