Lol its gonna be a rough one thats for sure...

Im not forseeing the problems alot of others have had with the 920s so i might be very happy .... If it has even a single dead pixel though back in the box it go's thats for sure... I already made up my mind im not going to deal with having to call and complain right out of the box.... So im crossing my fingers on that one :)...

Im just going to put this out here that,

Not every Alienware owner is on this forum. Maybe a very small portion of alienware owners are on this forum. Just because a couple people are experienceing problems, it does not mean that everyone is or going to have the same problem.

Aikimox, now you are seriously about RGB LED huh ;)

    ...

I accidentally voted for 720 NO flickerring but I guess my vote is not a disaster like someone vote for 720 HAVE flickerring.

Dont blame me, blame my iPhone for that.

    All because of you! :p
If it proves ill - you are to blame, and my conscience is at peace ;)
Now, seriously, I'll make an attempt to upgrade to R2, if it fails - will do some heavy modding (improve the cooling system) then sell it and probably stay away from AW for a while.

well I guess I am not immune to flickering I got it playing L4D2 I guess I jinxed myself. Maybe I should have waited before I voted till I got some more time with this thing sorry about that. I think that rules out the screen and the color lol.

Ok, I'm trying to run Furmark and it runs ok, but I don't see both GPUs running. The temp on one goes up to around 60C while the other stays around 40C or so. It isn't being used it seem. I have the cards setup for Crossfire according to the CCC. Is there something I am missing or does it only test one card even though Crossfire is set?

Oh so LCD is not a cure... Luckily we have you who have LCD on R2. One assumption is crossed out.

Good luck with dealing w/ Dell. Im still camping and hoping for this flickerring issue to be treated. I actually thought a R2 is problem free. Sadly I was totally wrong :(

Yes 1.8 which I got from the link on the first page of this thread. I didn't run it right away after installing, but the shortcut on my dektop says (mutli-gpu) on it.

Sorry, but first time running these types of programs and still learning.

EDIT: I am clicking on the desktop icon that says multi-gpu. I noticed there are two of them.
EDIT #2: Ok, so maybe it ws because AI was off in CCC? Turned it on and both were being used after that.

I would camp too, but made an inquiry phone call and suddenly got carried away when the rep asked about my stuttering/latency issues. Then I got even more frustrated when he said the fix is a couple of days away, showed him John_B' post and asked for the escalation.... Now I'm on fire!

Hey, on my last minutes using the computer just on the battery without the AC Power Adapter that just died.

I didn't have any flickering with the Xfire, the FPS were low due to not be connected to the Power Cord but no flickering at all.

Do you guys think that my problem might be just the AC Power Adapter?

i doubt that it's your power adapter specifically. It's the primary suspect AFAIK according to the guys that tried to troubleshoot the problem.

If they sent it to the area in Houstan Taxas. we are Screwed. I dont think they know how to change a light blub.

7 replacements parts not related to the system issue
1 replacements parts not related to the system issue

But I have to say they are getting better.

I would vote but still dont have a system. 37days they told me I would have one.

So far no flickering just running furmark, but I haven't had a chance to test it with Prime 95 running too. I will try that when I get home from work today.

Temps for one GPU ran at 59C max while the other one was at 62C max after 11 mins. Is it normal for one GPU to show 100% usage and another only 30% during this test? What was also strange was the one running at 30% was the one with the higher temp.

If you go into BIOS and disable the message that tells you the power adapter isn't compatible will it still not work?

Agreed. This's not the first time I saw a guy reports his adapter die. Im sure we are having Toyota in computer world.

And if AC adapter is the cause then somehow people with 720 have better AC adapter then the rest :D

    RECALL!

Wouldn't be the first time Dell had to recall adapters if in fact they are bad. They have a good history of doing that with ones made in China.

Chances are you won't even need it since you have an i720 based system. This bios fix is targeted more towards i920xm users (and a select few i820 configs). The power draw on your i720 shouldn't be enough to trigger flickering/throttling. Bios testing and QA usually takes a while, if I had to guess I'd say at least a month especially considering Chinese New Year is upon us.

I hope they also take care of the virtualization problem that those laptops have. It seems there is no Bios option to turn the CPU virtualization features on. This probably means slower vm performance and I assume it can be easily fixed by a bios update since our CPUs are supporting those features.

Well you could always put the 920xm in your G73. I'd be curious to see what your impressions are of the RGB LED vs the G73 WLED display.

The 920 will go in the G73 if i decide i dont want to keep the M17x thats for sure...

I imagine the RGB LED is going to smoke the Asus panel but at the same time the Asus panel is very nice and better then i thought it would be... Its the same Hanstar display thats in the 8760s.... I think its better then the LG i had in my M17 and i enjoyed the heck out of that screen... Horizontal viewing angles are about the only downside to the Asus screen but are the least important to me as its usually the Verticals that are horrid....
