A lot of people are interested in the AW 13 R3, which is a stark contrast from this forum, where there is more interest in the AW 15 R3 and AW 17 R4.

It was strange, I feel like the only person here thinking about that delicious 13 with OLED.

I think its strange that more people here are not interested. Arguments over 15" and 17" AW vs other comparable Competitor Clevo, MSI seem to get the most interest for AW.

Its the smaller portable segment where they truly shine, and have done so since the AW M11x. Here they never jumped onto the ultra thin shockingly loud hotbox bandwagon with razer, aorus and msi

OLED is a truly unique offering for any laptop (only other is Lenovo I think) let alone the gaming segment.

If they offer kaby lake quad core, then I may sell my current AW 13 OLED

So true - the M11x R1 was my first "gaming" laptop, and dedicated gaming computer - I used to love how small it was. I kept it in my day bag, played so many games on break from work, in bed, etc...

How do you like the OLED panel they put in the 13? Do you have an OLED TV for comparison?

But who wants to game on a 13"? At least I consider even the 17" to be at least 23" too small :)

Its incredible. No TV to compare it to. My nicest monitor is the Dell Ultra Sharp U345W 34" curved monitor. I find myself Gaming on 13" screen for everything but First Person Shooters. Playing Limbo or the Swapper ( or other very high contrast game) at night with the lights off is an otherworldly experience with surround sound.

13" screen is plenty big when you are only 20" from the device.

Maybe growing up with a GameBoy instead of consoles makes me think this?

Well, I think "in your face" proximity works well for a VR headset, too. All a matter of perspective, right?

According the reviews it's a little over-satured compared to the best OLED TVs, but it's a damn good screen way better than any LCD you can find in a laptop in almost every aspect. The issue however is the technology being too new to be considered "safe" to jump all the way in. Screen burns risks and unavoidable pixel degradation come with the package.

It'll tell you information not available under the GEFORCE app in the driver tab.

First thing I did was try and upgrade the driver... Probably NOT a permanent thing I would guess.

This doesn't seem to be new. I remember with the early Echo models that their Nvidia GPUs weren't in the official Nvidia drivers until a driver or two later (or in the case of the 13 R1's 2nd GTX 860m and Alpha's GPU, a few drivers later).
This problem can be fixed if you modify the driver's inf file (specifially, the nvdmi.inf file) to include the ID of the Dell GTX 1060N and GTX 1070N. You can copy-paste the inf file from Dell's driver over the nvdmi contents. You'll have to disable the signature-certificate check thing to do this (this is a boot option). It's a temporary fix until they, the IDs, are on the official Nvidia drivers.

No you have to wait a little for Nvidia driver to recognize the dell CUSTOM 1070 (because yes they have a different Vbios and architecture).

Had the same problem back in the days when I had the MSI + 780M, got it really soon and at first couldn't install drivers. All I did was go to laptopvideo2go I think and they had custom INF files for drivers that allows you to install drivers on new laptops :).

umar from Dell seems to think it's just an early adopter quirk, stock Nvidia drivers should install, if that's not the case or if we don't get an official statement within 14 days (EU law) I will return my AW15 without hesitation, ball in their court.

I really hope they will fix this driver quirk very quickly. Or at least tell us it is actually a quirk and not an intentional lock

This is the closest official answer you will get as of now (Umar Khan Alienware youtube/marketing, good guy btw). But It does confirm that it's not really intentional. STOP FREAKING OUT EVERYBODY ^^ and let's wait for official top notch nivida drivers (or modified inf ?)

Easy to avoid screen burn on any OLED device. Degradation is 7 years to reach 50% brightness If constant use (10 hr days), for something I would only keep 2 years max anyway.

20-26" is average for any laptop which you use the keyboard on. Sounds close, but use a tape-measure, your closer to a laptop screen than you'd imagine.

Apparently you can install STOCK AMD drivers on the new AW15/AW17 laptops and stock nvidia drivers very soon, so it's really nothing guys, you freaked me out a little :( !
I cancelled an msi gs62VR (just before it got shipped), a Asus GL502VS (God that thing heats), and cancelled a clevo P650RS-G, if those drivers were going to be locked i would have returned my AW15 --'. I want a good pascal laptop, the hardest part is the hardware (thermals, design etc.) so let's not destroy everything with crappy bios/software alienware ! And also,...I'm tired of returning/cancelling and waiting.
