And I thought GT660m would be an option for the m14x...Why isn't it so?

Sucks big time if they discontinue the M11x. Very unexpected, and sad. Wonder what valid reasons they have.

    AlienwareM17x Full-HD-Notebook für 3D-Spiele ? Einzelheiten | Dell Deutschland

It looks like Alienware engineers are lazy to put a subwoofer in M17x R4 :(

I don’t mind if they want to use the old chassis but a least improve/modify one or two things. I also want 90%-95% gamut LCD

Now Clevo gaming laptops already have multi-colour backlit keyboard and equipped with Onkyo speakers (and subwoofer), I think Dell/Alienware need to rise up their game.

Clevo is very late with the W110ER and in the view of AW discontinuing the M11x lets hope the small Clevo will be good ;)

For what it's worth, my idea at IdeaStorm, asking for "Matte screens on all Alienware laptops", has been put "Under Review". This is good news, because topics placed under review usually end up receiving a definite answer, whether "yes we will implement it", or "no we won't".

If you want to make your voice heard by Dell about this, now is the time to flood that thing with "+1" comments...
    Idea Storm

(sorry for mentioning this again; I'm not spamming, I just REALLY want to buy an M14x with a matte screen)

Wow, that is a REALLY BIG disappointment ..... especially for those that waited eagerly or postponed buying an R1 only to find little enhancement of any great note on the R2.

Are we all surprised? I mean this is why I went ahead and got my m18x r1 in March, because the release of the 600 series mobile weren't going to be anything different, and ivy bridge isn't worth it to upgrade atm. This was all known I thought.

French Configurator shows exactly the same screen option for the M14x R1 and R2.
I guess the R1 already has the "anti-glare" treatment.

It's labelled "TrueLife" here, maybe it's not the same thing though.

exactly the M14X start to look real nice :)

AMD is going to sale like hot cakes that's why :D

yep is an anti glare screen what I don't like is the color gamut I think is 60% :(

you don't want to kill the performance if the gt650m is on par with the GTX560m 1440x900 is perfect plus that res on a 14" is already overkill :)

The GT 650m sounds just great, is it GDDR5 or GDDR3?

Yep, I guess the first batch of core i7s will cost a kidney :p, but the performance looks very nice. Is just that on some place of the official alienware page I managed to customize the R1 :S, but by entering through DELL I got the R2.

Let's see how much it will cost in Mexico... I have some discounts there!.

Dell Alienware M18X R2 With Ivy Bridge Specs Leaked

Dell Alienware M18X R2 Specs Leak | techPowerUp

I would say possibly that what we are seeing on the config page is not the R2 but a revision with 600 series GPU's and the R2 will be close behind, agian speculation.

Sadly looks like no screen upgrade at this time.

    yeah, seems like it.

Moves like that make Nvidia the last choice on my list, ever. We already know that the 675M is the 580M flashed with a new vBIOS, same clocks, same performance. And they still push it as a new tech. C'mon....

Killing the 11" was a typical Dell Move.

They innovate, build something ahead of its time.. And wonder why it doesn't sell well. However, after they have established a brand and the market is about to explode for it.. they pull it.

Did it with the Adamo (ultrabook), did it with their MP3, PDA, Smart Phones.. everything..

What!?! No XM CPU?!? Hopefully, this leaking information is incomplete. If they do not offer an unlocked Extreme CPU, then I'm totally disinterested in downgrading to an R2 model.

Until I see clear evidence that an Ivy Bridge XM proc solidly outperforms a Sandy Bridge XM proc and the new generation dual-GPU configurations totally slaughter what I already have, and that the M18x R2 is not downgraded to a plastic chassis like the shenanigan they pulled with the M17x R3, I will have minimal interest in the R2. For me personally, the speculation is all rather pointless until we have full disclosure and Alienware shows us their cards.
