If you actually look at the benchmark comparison charts the dual 580ms beat 7970m by like 5-10% in most of them

I ordered my m14xr2 the day after it was released, my expected delivery date (EDD) is may the 16th
Anyone getting theres before this date?
Might be a geek and do an unboxing vid -
-
-
and i would be receiving it through my brother who visits us once an year :/ -
-
I caved in. Just ordered my M14X from dell. Got an awesome deal. Thanks Bill.

Yeh its all adding up and fitting together that we will get ivy bridge in this years refreshes xD
Why would alienware release a refresh with last years cpu when thier competitors will be using IB?
All the shipdates are mid may plus, this gives them time to build the laptops after recieving the IB proccesors from intel around april the 29th??
Ive read that IB shouldnt increase the price of the laptops!
The reps just tell you what they know and dont want to cause confusion =)
You could wait to order when alienware confirm all this if you can wait
I cant wait, i needed a laptop asap after my ancient dell 6400 died
I got engineering assignments to write!
Just sit back and keep an eye or two on this forum for updates ^^ -

Any1 knows if the CPU Changing if you order a Sandy now is the same in Germany?
Cuz the Alienware chat there is super representative with spamming all the same sentences xD -

Ty very much
Then ill order an m17x r4 with
core i7 2760qm
6gb ram
500gb hdd
7970m
for 1500
i got 16GB ram at home and 128gb ssd at home so all will work out well i hope -
I checked the M17x R4 on AAFES and it comes out about the same as P170EM w/ i7 2760QM. I'm considering now one, but wanted to know how the AW screen compares to stock (or 90% gamut) 17.3" Clevo and was wondering if anyone tried both and what's your point on each one?
-
but as you say " anticipation is killing me" , think about me manif i dont get the component ,my bro will take it back and bring after an year , lol till then anticipation would have killed me
Plus i had already ordered on the 2nd day from the announcement ^^ so if i get the same things with a lower price i shall cancel the current one and order again from him =]
Anyways to my final conclusion , il stick to my original order =]
which delivers on 25th may x] -
Well this thread sort of died after learning the 7970m's for the M18x-R2 won't be available for at least another week... It sucks because you know Nvidia is probably going to try and release something, and with all their upcoming announcements, it just makes me nervous. I hope by the time these AMD cards are released they aren't somehow outdated, or soon to be...

I know last year the 6970 owners were not all to happy they announced the 6990s so quickly.
I wont be surprised if the 7990s will be right around corner this time as well.. -

Long time, no see. And yes, you are right. -

No sign of bill yet for more clues and inbetweeners
Hopefully by the 29th the waiting game will be over -
The power of the new cards are so insane even a single 7970 for gaming purposes is more then enough and will be for sometime to come.
They need to create newer games to take advantage of all this great new tech but sadly the tech is coming far faster then the great new games. -

As far as ordering a new system now, it has been said multiple times that your system should ship with the unnamed component. I would trust the source. -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
I just don't know why we can't order if is going to take a month to build to begin with I guess this is worst because I don't have a computer and my wife do my son's do
yeah lets play angry birds 4096x2160 DX11 high res textures -
As for the angry birds...I think we're lacking the raw power for that now :/ Lets stick to 800x600 -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
yeah man 800x600 sounds more realistic that's a demanding game -
The unnamed component and the Dual 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 7970M - AMD CrossFireXT are listed now on m18x' Tech Specs.. posted on dell us website.

Surprised they didn't put an option for single 7970m -

4.1GHz quad coreP

Probably better to get the standard clocks one and overclock it yourself later if needed ( saves a 100 or so dollars if I remember right) -

Well I took Dell-Bill_B advice and re-ordered my system that I called and canceled yesterday morning... before I read this site... lol... but 2 things came out of my read, I changed my video card to the HD 7970M from the GTX675... now the waiting game for aforementioned part that will not be named... 8) Here's what I ordered....
M17X R4, 2nd Generation Intel Core i7-2760QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.5GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0), 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 7970M, 12GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz, Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader, 64GB mSATA + 500G 7200RPM
My question is when, notice the confidence, they upgrade my system to Ivy Bridge will I get a comparable cpu? I hope so.....
Thanks for all your help goes out to everyone on this site,,, CHEERS -
Bit of a newb, but seeing this mSATA a lot in the refresh, and just wondering: how does it work?
Is it cache like in hybrid hard drives? or some sort of mini ssd for boot drives?
Also if it's a mini ssd, does it act like having a secondary hard drive in terms of putting things on it?
Or am I just way off lol.
New M17x R4, M14X R2 and M18X R2 are coming - Speculation thread.
