@Zero2Infinity. Dell authorizes your account when you place the order, which disappears after a few days. Once the order ships, you will be charged for the full amount.

My m15x landed yesterday and all i can say is wow...

Its a very solid build, i must say i'm really impressed. I haven't had to much time with it but ill let you guys know how well it does with 3d programs such as modo and zbrush... can't wait to test it out.

Someone mentioned dell ships in batches and I will confirm that being that the sales rep told me thats how do they do it.

Does anyone know or have any benchmarks showing the difference between 1066Mhz vs 1333Mhz of RAM in the m15x???? I'm thinking about upgrading to 8gb of 1333Mhz so any info would be much appreciated.

Hey JL3D, congrats to your new M15X. Could you try to install HWMonitor and see how's the temp of your i7 CPUs because the last time I checked mine, it has a reading of 60 Celsius degree! as I posted above. Running program were only IE7, Skype and remote connection in balanced mode. I know the program is not so reliable enough but worth a try though to give us the normal temp of our M15X.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

I ordered my M15x on Nov 4, and I got and order confirmation e-mail but I do not see my order in My Accounts. Is dell just taking its time to update this page? How long does it usually for the information to be in My Accounts?

    Thanks!

ryuken,my i7 is idling around the 44-53 Celsius in High Performance on battery if thats of any help to you.
One core reached 67 in Supreme Commander but so far i think thats the highest temp I've had.

Mine just arrived. I now know why there are not so many unboxing videos out there. I started to take photographs of every aspect of unboxing it, and then I got to the machine itself. At that point the camera got turned off and I was completely absorbed.

It's a lovely machine. On the pro side, the design of the machine offsets the weight. I was quite surprised by this, but it's such a lovely texture and so well balanced that it really doesn't feel like you have 91bs of computer on your lap. Also, I'm love the face recognition security stuff.

On the cons - there's only one at this point. There's an awful lot of plastic above the top and below the bottom edge of the screen. We could have gotten a lot more screen real estate if they'd focussed onm mthat area a little longer.

I'll post up pictures for those that want them later, but for now I have to pack this thing up and get back to work (I did have a wonderful made up excuse to not show my face at work today, but then I got the notifcation that Dragon Age, my new mouse and the Alienware's DVI cable have arrived at the office 2 days early)

Well, few weeks in now and I'm still loving the M15X overall but..Blarg...TF2 and stuff still locking it up on me. It's really really annoying. I can't figure out exactly what's causing it either, which makes it worse.....I think I may have a small short somewhere tbh. There's no consistency to the crashes, and I've had it just lock on me while viewing pictures too. SOmetimes discharging the system makes it go away for a while, but it's really not an acceptable solution. Any suggestions? (otherwise I'll just call tech support again here in a few weeks when I have time)

mm, which setting? about 30+ pages behind on the thread so I haven't fully caught up yet.

Hmm, so I searched posts and found the one you mentioned. Where abouts is the setting to force full power? I'm not as familiar with the nVidia Control panel as this is the first computer I've owned that wasn't ATi in about 5 years.

I appreciate you inputs Archaon. I will try to put it in idle mode with High Performance on battery.

I don't understand why is it goes as high as 67 when playing games where there are 2 powerful blowers to cool them up. Is that normal?
So do you think if our CPUs goes to 80, that would only be the time to worry.Or maybe 90!
    Guess so?!?

As far as I could tell it only went to 67 once, and that was during a pretty heavy game of Supreme Commander (quite CPU intensive),airflow probably did play a part in that, playing it on my lap probably wasnt the ideal surface for heavy gaming

I wouldnt worry about the temps too much though, not unless they get into the mid/high 70s,then i might get a little apprehensive.

Bubbamel - Got the bluetooth card installed today without issue.

You should be okay if yours shows up without. After the tech installed I was able to install the drivers without an issue.

Just in case you like to know what's in your computer

what it does, what the highest temps the GPU/CPU where running at. :)

    Voltage, Bios version...the lot.

Try "SIW" you can find it at http://www.gtopala.com and it's free.

    Might be useful for some?

Alright guys, need some help here. When I boot up my M15x, I haven't gotten a bios screen nor a windows loading screen. It just shows a blank screen for awhile and then takes me to the login screen. I've currently have the latest bios installed, any ideas?

Yup, i'm on all green too! Then when it's off AC power, the alien goes to orange. Looks awesome! Love the speaker vent lighting in front too.

Well i'm playing far cry 2 on max resolution (1080P) with everything on ultra settings and it runs very smoothly. I know crysis is a little more demanding but i was playing last night with a VLC video open (paused) and a major newsbin download and self extraction going on and i experienced no stuttering in far cry 2. I think it can handle crysis on ultra now... i thought someone else said that too?

For the best overall experience i would say that 1600x900 on high would be perfect.. The beginning portions of the game dont reflect the overall performance by any stretch.. When you hit the levels with snow be prepared for the framerate to tank... If it were me id play in DX9 mode on high .. Visually there is not a huge difference but the performance increase will be substantial..

If you want to know how to run the game in Direct x 9 just make a shortcut on your desktop and rightclick to properties then add -dx9 to the end of it..

    should look something like this..

    C:\crysis\bin64\crysis.exe -dx9

When I have the TV hooked up during boot-up everything shows on the laptop screen but nothing shows on the TV till I get the the login screen. Sounds like yours is not using the laptop screen as the default. I checked the bios but didn't see any settings that may help. Might be one for Dell support.

When I had the M15x originally with 9 cell I was pushing maybe 2:30. I would think with Win 7 and SSD, I will probably push 2:45? At least that is what I am hoping.

Hahaha.. :D Well, I was pretty bummed out when I first received it with the issues it had. I have had two other laptops, and I decided this one was the best, especially I got a better price then I did the first time and I am getting the SSD installed in it. So I am pretty happy about it. Now, in referrence to steam coming pre-installed, you can uncheck that option if you want. I just had it pre-installed since most of my games are on steam, and that is one less thing I have to install once I get it...hehe. ;) :D

Just heard that Dell will be updating their website shortly with information as regards pending orders. So if you've been checking on the status of your order and its still showing "in production", things should change for possible shipping for next week.

Hey vek, as Nero stated, one benefit of SSD drives are that there are no moving parts, and less of a chance of data loss/failure. The other thing about SSD drives is that they are much faster than your traditional disk HDD's. Hope that helps. :D

Wait until they deliver on monday. I tried to pick mine up on saturday when mine was shipped on a fri but my lappy was still in transit and wasn't there at the fedex office... they also told me they dont normally receive shipments on saturday that is being sent by fedex overnight...

But um, just check your tracking number and see if any local fedex office received your lappy... if you do, then call them up and ask them if you could pick it up. You will be charged extra $$$ though. Like 15 bucks.

Is it really worth the extra cost involved with the SSD HDD over the standard HDD? Seems like alot of money for some HDD performance improvement?!

Just installed the 920xm, still waiting for my 9 cell battery to come in and additional power adapter. If anyone needs an extra adapter, let me know I can snag one up for you for 60 bucks with my corporate account.
