Kevblah.... YOU DROPPED IT! Epic fail indeed. Also I feel very sorry for you if you are sleeping in one of those tiny beds.

Otherwise great unboxing.. one of the best I've watched. I picked red too... looks so AWESOME. That made waiting for mine just that more unbearable.

Nice scores there guys. Has anyone with a Dell XPS M1730 picked one of these up yet? Desperately need to compare the size of these two machines! No point in buying the M15x if its the same size as the XPS! I need something more portable for travel with work, yet still able to play games on at a decent tick. Any info much appreciated!

Hi people. Just registered. Nice to see a very active thread.

I love the m15x, but it did have some problems when I got mine last month.

The bios update did fix my keyboard lag problem, and the new synaptics touchpad driver, did fix the last commandcenter problems I had.

However, my touchpad is still really laggy and slow(works somewhat fine in ubuntu, which suggests that it is a driver problem). It says here http://www.notebookforums.com/thread230034.html, that the bios update should have resolved the touchpad lag, but my lag persists. Does anyone else experience the same problem?

Also, when connecting my m15x to my tv, through a Displayport-to-HDMI adapter, i get no sound... (and yes, I changed the displayport to default sound device).

Can anyone help? I'm running win 7 64 bit.

Everyone seems to be having problems with the touchpad even after the first round of updates. Then again everyone seems to be using their external mice 99% of the time anyway (Go figures eh).

As for the displayport question I can't help you yet as I don't have the laptop yet. Sorry.

I have no touchpad or keyboard lag with my system. The touchpad is not as smooth as I'd like it during movement but it's easy to get used to. I'm using all stock drivers except for the display driver (186.81 WHQL).

Thx. Yeah, I'm using an external mouse too, but once in a while, you want to be able to use the computer without carying the mouse along with you.

If anyone else with an displayport-to-HDMI adapter, can test if it delivers sound to HDMI devices, it would be great. Kind of important, since most devices have HDMI, and not displayport. At least important to us people, who like hooking the laptop up to the tv, to watch movies.

Hmm yeah, ok I misspoke. It's not exactly laggy, but if you compare the movement to a usb mouse, there is a LOT of difference. It kind of stutters.

This doesn't happen in Ubuntu, where the touchpad movement is as smooth as an external mouse.

Closest one is the Sager 8690 but the fans on that thing are louder than a desktop. I speak from experience by the way. In my honest opinion (after going through about 5 diff notebooks) there isn't a single 15.6"-16" (and probably all 17" except it's bigger brother the M17x) notebook that comes close to the M15x in build quality, it's that good. Dell has really impressed me with this notebook and that says a lot because I'm very picky (just ask the Asus guys). The last notebook that I loved so much was my Dell XPS M1710, that thing was a tank with near perfect build quality and this thing tops it..really amazed :) BTW I took this thing to panera bread while I was studying for a few hours and I had a couple people come up to me and compliment it. :D

In M15x may lead to multichannel audio receivers, or only stereo? (S/PDIF)

Ah yeah. I had stealth on the first time I ran the 3dmark06. I just ran again and got a much better result.

Its just so easy to accidentally hit the stealth button...

I only get 6.3 on the Harddrive WEI though, I've seen others on here get 6.9 or so. Anyone else with a SSD mind sharing their WEI numbers?

Dell called again today and gave me a 50 dollar gift card.
They also added the mini 10v for 99$.... but they're gonna delay the ship date again. Apparently it's "prioritized" building now

to make a long story short im specifically talking about the two 500gb SATAII's I've already gone through. Im not saying all of them suck, just the ones that i've recieved from dell. i was really not satisfied with the performance and the clicking is ridiculous...but if you can put up with that then the 550gb's should work fine for you.

the two drives i've already had were seagate drives.

How are people finding the 1080 DP screen? I am considering not doing it, seeing as the screen is only 15' - and also isn't really beneficial if you end up gaming I guess (will hamper performance?)
