    I recon 5 series ati,

Or something with semi/full dx 11 support, it'd be a great oppertunity for ATI if they dived right into the top brand gaming notebooks :) (well i class alienware as top anyway)

And my experience with ati has been golden, the things about driver support and all that, isn't as bad as what i originally thought and so on and there very powerful.

i7 in 15inch is godly though, or am i a bit too excited here haha.

if that was the case then I would purchase a m17x instead of the 15x... but I am not getting my hopes up.

I agree. The german Dell site offers few CPU options compared to the US site, for example. But you can order the missing Core Duo CPUs by phone. I wonder why they don't show on the website, though.

Maybe the shiny and great ATI cards will be optional to only you lucky US customers ;)

what could be different ? i'm disapointed because of the gpus.. 240/260 is lame.. i mean, it's ok for the price and all, but i was expecting at least a 280m.. :'(

I think most were hoping (and still are) for an ATI option. I want to see if they release it for the M17x.

9am EST is my guess (4 more hours). Looks like the LED option is only for 1600x900. Also the 920 proc is a huge price jump. At least the 260 is not that big of a price difference.

The M17x is. The M17 will remain the best value for Europeans. The could also get the Clevo M980U which is the same spec as the M17x just much cheaper.

That is ridiculously expensive, even for Europe, and seems to place the M15X so close to the M17X in terms of price and bulk that serious buyers must be torn.

    I can't see why if they could include a 260M GTX they couldn't do a 280M GTX.

    Cool and phew!

I think Dell/Alienware didn't want to undervalue the M17x so soon, hence I can breathe a big sigh of relief as a recent top spec M17x owner. My Netbook I use for portability, but I still think the M17x is maturing and will show its true performance under Win7 with updated nVidia drivers.

The only reason why I would like to have used the i7 and 8Gb+ RAM is for local or network rendering applications. i7 really cuts through those CPU intensive processes!

Also for EU, I paid £4100 (after 7% EPP) for fully stacked M17x which I hope will last as long as my M1710 (still going strong after 2 years). I think Pound for Pound (Euro for Euro :D), Dell aren't going to get that many punters here in these hard times (I would have thought).

Also the many M17x critics screaming on the Dell forums may have put many off from going through the hell they have been through with M17x from ordering to support issues and poor QA (I was lucky apart from 8 calls to Dell, multiple promises broken by Account Manager, and 3 hours to tech support, where I knew more about the M17x than they did - I count myself lucky compared to many of those tales!) /grin

i think alienware is being overly cautious this time, especially after all the area-51 m15x overheating issues. now they are careful not to repeat the same mistake, which is a mistake from our perspective. such a bulky design should include adequate cooling capability for the top end graphics solution. looks like we'll all (those who held back from getting M17x like me) be stuck with GTX260M.

I have managed to add it to my basket, and I also have a 5% coupon the works on the machine. i am going to wait until I can find the EPP link for this model, cos i'll get 10% off if its over €1600.

    About European prices...this is not expensive, it's normal...unfortunately :(

The base price in America will be 1399$ with +110$ for 260M...it has been like that until now...

    A base M17X starts from 1999E in Europe...and it's too much!!!

I still think that M15X is too expensive, if compared to Clevo's one...I could call some salesman and ask for 100E less if sold without OS, but they usually dont do that...so probably Clevo FTW :D

Well the base model M15X will be a little under €1400 in most European countries (depending on tax rate). And it is only about €110 to upgrade to GTX260M. So it should be close to the W860CU pricewise.

Pricely it should be similar...but Clevo is smaller, lighter and have full keyboard...

The M15X should have retro-illuminated keyboard, green gaming color from every hole (this is positive :) ) and DELL warranty...

Still have to check pictures and prices of both NB tonight (when they will be out in Europe)...maybe tom I'll order one of them :D

All I can speak for is European prices, and €1500 with an i7 and GTX260M is pretty reasonable.

in terms of performance, do you think M15x will run source games (left4dead, team fortress 2), crysis, cod 6 modern warfare 2, kind of smoothly ?

    I don't know if I order and m17 or a m15x.. i can't afford a m17x actually :/

Yeah, it will play those games very well. GTX260M is a good performer, and it is not a new card so its abilities are already well known. Just google for some benchmarks.

You can get to some other European pages by changing the URL where it says 'uk'. (to 'fr' or whatever). Seems to be base €1399 in most EU pages.
