I am telling you guys. If you haven't seen the red up-close, then you can't judge it.

No matter how many pics I took of mine it never came close to how nice it looked in person.

it depends on the converter. im pretty sure there are converters that can. They cost a bit more of course.

If theres a 4870 in it i might jump on board because i love LED screens Soo much . Hopefully they start offering LED in the M17x as an option like i said before then its the best of both worlds . Id really prefer a dual card machine since there just so much faster for the stuff i like to do .

 

I will trade the lack of HDMI in the M15x for skullcap!

I remember a while back there was a user that shared many photos of his red M17x..one of the few first people who bought it in that color

From what I remember, the laptop looked really..realllly spiffy

 

I tried digging up that thread but can't find it (search doesn't want to find it either).

It was a guy in the Uk I think and his pics came out great. That was the only pics I ever saw that came close to showing how nice the red was.

 

DisplayPort implementations so far (all other notebooks I've seen) have not transmitted any audio at all. So it doesn't matter if you use a HDMI converter... The big thing is if Alienware now actually use a DisplayPort that transmits audio. I am guessing not. Most people here doesn't seem interested in HDMI anyways, so I guess Alienware did the right choice...

 

Hey...I like HDMI. especially if you going to hook up to watch a 1080p movies to the 52" LCD. But of course, my audio would route to the digital receiver to get 5.1 surround.

here is the deal, so i just got off the phone with dell-alienware sales dept ... so i was trying to pull any possible info from the sales rep that was assisting me. I got to the point when i tell him : "I am willing to make a purchase tonight (M17X) , but only if I know that you guys are not coming up with any kind of the technical up-dates tomorrow, what ultimately will make me cancel my order" and the guy was like " ... Jeeee , in that case let me take your number and I will call you tomorrow, as I am not allowed to discuss any forthcoming tech modifications" !!!

Do you guys follow this .... seems like they are "up-dating" the current M17X line up .... the questions is "with what" ???

I would assume that it would be LED, i7 (but it requeires the whole MB modification, so does it mean that there will be no SLI configuration ??!)

Currently no companies (that I can find) offer two card slots with the i7 chipset. That said, Alienware would probably get that board first. So the M17X may very well get an update tomorrow to coincide with the m15X. But Im not going to hold my breath. (well, I will actually lol). They may make us wait until Q1 2010.

Now back to the M15X. less then 24 hours until we get the particulars.

 

i still cant get over the fact it doesnt have an hdmi out.
i know there are converters, but still...
$500 laptops have hdmi connections.
im satisfied with the 260 though to be honest.
i could go for more, but im satisfied.

edit: although the asus g51vx is $1000 (minus the i7)
my bro has it and loves it.

 

I feel the same about the HDMI if they gave you the converter I wouldn't care because if Im using hdmi im home anyway so more parts dont bother me but I hope the Display port does have sound. No one really seems to know if it does or doesn't

 

I would regret purchasing my M17x except that it's only a couple pounds heavier and not much bigger overall.

 

Sad to see that it may not have the extra smart bay slot. Wonder if it will have interchangable GPUs like that of the old m15x.

because dell is preparing its website to push the gallery, specs and configuration of the m15x. along with who knows what else on the desktop side of things (i dont know if dell.com will be selling the desktop computer alienware will likely be revealing tomorrow)
