$670 - no.
$350 - yes.
It sucks you guys get shafted with prices![]()

Another i7 review at AnandTech.com.
Much better runs for gaming benchmarks. -
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
The only unfair thing might be that we can OC our processor like the core i7 can but im geussing they didnt take the time to do that.
-
Does anyone know the answer to this. I signed up through alienware, but cant find out how to sign up for dell.
-
-
Yea, sure does. At least the base price isn't as much of a total rip off this time at $1499 to $1935. The M17x is $1799 to $2786.
But we do get free Nebular red to make up for it.... almost worth while huh? =P -
bing cashback is 15% for dell!
-
Only studio and inspiron notebooks sadly
-
What is special about this configuration? Didn't add it up yet
-
Hmmm
The epp link didn't stay.
Just go here and choose healthcare in the drop down menu
-
Oh why thank you that makes more sense now
-
Wow I really did miss the party!
Has the M15X been announced early?
I would never consider a smaller notebook as I use my M17 as a desktop but the coreI7 sounds appealing.
I hope you guys are happy with your new machines....have fun! -
Sorry dont want to read all these pages.....
have you ordered Sleeyo? what config? -
Thanks tony!
Glad you could join us here
lol
-
Isn't there a cap on Bing cashback?
-
Haha also the config which you posted before was exactly what I wanted and with the discount 2200 is not a bad price, just wish I knew how much life the 9 cell would give
-
i would suggest the thread starter to gather all the relevant info and post them on the main page so we dont have to go 70+ and counting to read the latest updates. more organized that waytoo. it would be nice to include coupon discounts for US, UK, etc as well.

Quad check the pic
If the 260 is handicapped I'm gonna be pi$$ed off to no extent!Attached Files:

Dunno what to say bro other then the fact they reference (65w) ? Could mean the lowered power version ?.
-
Exactly, quad
Maybe AW couldn't get a 280 to work in the limited 65W slot. -
first review of the M15x! check it out
http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews.php?reviewid=843
your question about the GTX260M has been answered. it's the full fledged thing! 550MHz core 950MHz GDDR3. guess you can sleep well tonight sleeyo -
That may not bode well for putting a 280 in there or a 4870 if that is the case.
-
Lord...finally seeing that black chassis that suits it MUCH better then that terrible red finish on the other video and that LED screen plus finding out that my dad is indeed eligible for a Boeing discount even though he only contracts is really making me waver here.....
-
According to the review the 260 is not handicapped.
Oh, and the battery does stick out a little and lifts the laptop up slightly. -
That is one of the ugliest laptops I've ever seen. Makes my G51 look like a supermodel of laptops. The clevo w860cu looks 100x better.
-
Thanks for the informative post, joker.
Some would say you're trolling, but I digress. Please don't come in here and make comments like that (especially the Clevo part).
It will start a flame war and then the thread could close.
Thanks! -
Completely subjective, IMO the w860cu is the plainest looking thing next to white bread. That said I still agree its design is bulky, as is the the w860cu if you read the dimensions on that beast and probably going to have me pass this generation until they can make these diesets smaller and thus making the prospect of a i7 15' truly portable.

the battery lifting the back up is a plus to me
that is something the M17x needs. I always have to prop up the back when using it on a table -
darn! no user customizable OverClocking available! what's the point of extreme edition 920XM???
-
Turbo oc's for ya
-
they have the memory config options.
-
I can't see paying the extra though from the 1.7 to the 2.0? Unless someone can convince me its worth it?
-
Not really. It only OC's when less cores are in use. What if you want to bump a 1.73 up to 2.0 on all cores?
Hopefully some sort of hacked BIOS will be figured out for this thing
-
Go for the 820.
Seems to be the sweet spot, IMO. -
Why is expressing an opinion that is relevant to the topic perceived as trolling by you? I'm sure I am not the first nor last to feel this laptop looks atrocious. Comparing it to other laptops like the Clevo which are it's direct competition is valid and completely on topic and far from trolling. If I posted something like, "AW is the sux, Clevo rules LOLz!" that would be trolling. If Dell was smart, they would have taken the looks of the Studio XPS 16, improved on it (thicker chasis, better ventilation) and called it the M15x. Oh well...
Edit: Actually the W860CU is pretty close to what I described above...looks strikingly similar to a SXPS 16. -
Well, if your not using a core(s), what's the point of locking the other cores to a lower clock?
Doesn't make sense to me
-
like what? more voltage to the proc?
-
And the 1640 isn't nice looking IMO but you don't see me making those comments in the Dell section now, do you?
-
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
also there is no display port to hdmi cable so bad choice from dell there
-
No but if you did it wouldn't be trolling. Besides, I think you're in the minority with respect to the SXPS 16's looks--it's one of the best looking laptops on the market.
-
Yeah I was really surprised by this. DisplayPort should have been supplemental, not a replacement for something as widely used as HDMI. You've got to wonder what these AW guys were smoking...
-
the whole point of paying so much more extra for 920XM is for the special unlocked multiplier which alienware M15x decides not implement the use of this *gift*. if that's the case no one is going to be willing to pay the price premium for 920. im just hoping the initial BIOS release is not ready and the full production BIOS contains real OC fuctions.
-
I think the xps 13 looks alright but IMO the 16 looks terrible and cheap when I saw it at BB but it is geared to a different audience, it is not technically trolling but honestly you knew someone was going to say something about your comment
-
Same as the W860 - I think it looks awful, yet I haven't gone in there forum and said omg it's horrid - the M15x looks 1000x better
-
Well I've said my 2 cents so I won't continue to harp on it's looks. Enjoy your new laptop boys.

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
the driverheaven review shows the BIOS
No cpu OC is there yet aparently just memory
-
Joker
How is the single 260 performance in you Asus? Is it good enough?
Just trying to get a feel for how the M15x will perform.... -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
the driver heaven review did some very basic game benchmarks too, not that thorough though in my opinion
