It can't, at least according to the diagrams of the Motherboard Layout.

Sherlock Sleey0 is on the case!
I already emailed my dell salesperson and said expect a call tomorrow or Thurs! Funny how the GPU is the mystery right now... 4870 with GDDR5 maybe? *yummm*.. count me in!
-
if it's the same chassis what modifications did they do? is it still 15 p or is it 16 p?
-
Wow, that is a blow. No HDMI connection. Nevertheless I'm planning to get it as soon as it's on the site
-
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
Does it have displayport?

display port is the fuure at the moment but for now we need hdmi
-
Hm, well the official announcement isn't til tomorrow...maybe dell is teasing us again...
-
Not a killer for me
I don't ever hook up my lappies to my tv. I have a PS3 for that -
Display port might be the future but now pretty much all AV equipment uses HDMI. It's too early to be leaving out an HDMI connection.
-
Anyway, so how about the other 2 manuals for the desktops? -
Looking at the comprehensive specs..no hdmi but does have displayport. Very interesting indeed. That caught me a bit off guard. Still buying it though!
Edit: If I remember correctly, Intel now fully supports displayport. -
-
Holy CRAP!
9lbs starting weight? Wooohhh.
Better starting using my bowflex -
-
Guys, the displayport to HDMI adapter runs between 10 and 22 dollars on Amazon
Not to mention that AW probably puts the adapter in the box. -
-
9 lbs isn't too much, but for a 15" I would've expected a little lighter.
-
Don't think Dell is selling the desktops (AW still is handling that, I think).
If it were on Dell's site I would have found it -
It's here!!! I just geekgasmed
-
Yeah 9 pounds is heavier then most 17inchers out there
. Still awesome though . Atleast you know its built well.
-

-
at least it will be sturdy
-
Im not defending the weight on this one, but remember that its actually a 15.6" screen, making the body between a 15 and 17. Wrap it in the metal chassis and it gets heavy Im sure.
Still waiting to see if they move the 4870s and the i7 in to the M17X. Seems like they would have to...the M15x with an i7 2ghz and a 4870 would probably give the m17x a real run. -
Will m17x have i7 option too?
-
^^
Eventually, sure. -
Yeah if it has a beefy video card in it then it will be very tempting not to get one. 1920x1080 and a 4870 would go nicely together. Pray theres no auto contrasting/dimming built in
.
-
Speaking of resolutions, quad, what do you think of the 1600x900 on a 15.6" screen?
Would it look similar to 1440x990? -
I just ran around giggling like a little school girl when I found this. Is that bad?
On Topic: So the GPU and RAM are still in question? -
Thats what i was trying to decide on myself. 1600x900 better framerates but 1920x1080 equal awesome hi def movie support with no funky scaling going on and games will certainly look better. Problem is the eye strain involved with such high res on a small panel but if the panel is bright and clear that wont be an issue. Also depending on the price difference between the 2 will be a big deciding factor. $200 more for the 1920 might be hard to swallow.
-
-
I guess my choice will depend on price
If Dell gouges for the WUXGA panel I might pass.... -
atleast its not 1366x768 vs 1920x1080 then it would be a no brainer
.
-
i think the 1600x900 for a 15 inch laptop is actually quite good.
i think it will look pretty darn good. -
Just thinking...
The screens will be the same exact ones Dell is using in the SXPS 16. Gonna head on over there for some impressions in a bit. -
It's pretty beefy in its overall dimensions considering it's almost 2'' thick and 9lbs like others have mentioned. Well at least that means it'll hopefully have some excellent cooling built in there.
-
I think it depends on if you order the blue-ray and want to full screen the movies. Truthfully I don't do a lot of that. I shrink em and watch while Im surfing/emailing or even play a game windowed if its a 17".
-
but is that the same case with LEDs? -
It has separate cooling system for CPU and GPU (as Clevo's one) so the cooling wont be a problem
Just waiting for price in Europe (hope under 1500E by Dell) -
Of course it's the same case, scytus.
I ALWAYS run native with LCD's. -
-
Yeah i think in the long run the 1600x900 will probably be the best option for GPU longevity in games(lack of SLI etc). Hopefully the quality though of each panel does not differ that greatly as it usually does going from the lesser to the greater.
-
Nice machine!
-
Just when I thought I was set on the m17x, I see this and just cry. Can't wait to order.
-
I will choose to sell or keep when I see the gpu's
-
Moo, what did you wind up with for your m17x spec?
-
Nice find Sleey0. Now find a corresponding evalue code.
