That is my ultimate goal so I can use the Boeing discount (doesn't work with AW unless you use an e-vale code).

So I might not be able to order right away :(

If it's anything like the M17x launch any EPP purchase will be delayed.

It just needs to be a certain config to start (kinda like the red M17x Dell has up right now for $2099).

So, I don't mind waiting (not too long, of course!).

    Yes.

EPP and Student discounts are one in the same (7%). DPA is another 3%.

if the rumors are true about a gddr5 4870,
that would kind of be a let down because it wont even
be as powerful as the 3870s in crossfire,
but a 280 is more powerful than 3870s crossfire according to benchies...

Dondadah benched his 3870s against the 280mGTX and the 3870s won in every category if i recall correctly . I ran my M17 with crossfire against my M17x with a single 280 running and i have better framerates then the single card. Only a couple games that just purely run better on Nvidia are where the 280 will shine.

yah i had the 3870s they are powerful cards.
and that is true for the most part, but the 280 does when in some instances.
but 4870vs280, id rather have the 280...
even though i love ati as a company.
i would love for their 5000 series cards be an option.

No trust me you want the 4870 over the 280 :) DX10.1 support and far more future proof. And if its DDR5 its going to stomp on the 280.

well listen, id honestly be happy with either card.
and 10.1 isnt really a bid deal.
and from what i hear dx11 is backwards compatible with dx10 cards neway.
    3dmark 06 there is a 2000pt diff between the gddr5 4870 and the 280.
    so idk...

Yeah without question. Also keep in mind that ATI cards take less of a hit at higher resolutions generally then Nvidia cards do especially the older ones like the G92, so a single high end ATI card would be great for that 1920x1080 screen.

Are you referring to desktop parts (2000 point diff)?

    Not a valid arguement..... The 280M isn't the same card (it's basically a 9800M)

Do you think this will win the new clevo w860cu? from the manual, NEW M15x lack both numpad + HDMI. One thing that M15x seem to win is VGA if it has the option for 4870 GDDR5 or New broadway ATI 5870 :)

    my beefs/preference of m17x still:

    1. no hdmi = lame
    2. AC coming out of the side - EW.
    3. wouldn't the m17x get corei7's in turn?
    4. wouldn't the m17x get LED displays in turn?

I don’t believe that the M15X will have the new ATI aka 5870. 4870 or single G92 variants(200 series).

scratch number 2 if displayport can transmit both HD video and audio. if it can't, hdmi is superior.

AFAIK, no one here was debating that

I cant agree more with the power adapter coming out from the sides! is going on with this model?
And the power adapter must big huge as well.
Not only that, its not coming from near the back of the sides, but more like in the MIDDEL of the left side! HOW ANNOYING MUST THAT BE?
