Are you sure?
That seems awfully quick. The EST on Dell's site still says 20 days. -

Take a screen shot of your order status and post it here.

Kinda.
I am checking the dell uk site for lead times but it isn't listed. So I am just being curious;0 -

So your delivery date is the 8th. That means your ship date is like the 5th or 6th?
I think that is a typo but I haven't heard anyone else in the UK state there EDD. -
Look mine shipped yesterday!

I'm just messing with ya.

I'm thinking that once his order goes from processing to in production, the date will change.

I'm hating you so bad right now... Meanwhile the dv6000 im using is burning a hole through my leg and my cooler hasn't arived yet. I ordered the enermax aeolis to go with my new M15x, the reviews say it cools sytem down 20c. I looked into DIY coolers but I have too many other projects going on right now that are collecting dust. but seriously your lucky, if you do get it that early please put some pictures up on the forum! -
Hey guys I have a limited budget and was wondering if anyone thought the base M15x was a good laptop because I can use my boeing discount and really can't spend more than 1360 with tax. Is the base cpu and gpu good enough for moderate gaming

I am curious since this may be my situation, would you guys take the upgrade to the mid level cpu or take the gtx 260?
I know these are both components that can be upgraded later at a higher cost but which is most logical to take now, or would it be best to hold off and get both when funds are available? (however long that maybe)
-
The base processor is no slouch and it should be much easier to upgrade the cpu later over the gpu because a cpu is easy to obtain. The i7s are already out there to purchase and in a year or two you should be able to pick one up very cheap. Although I hope for both of us getting a better gpu will be possible down the road we will probably have to buy one from dell for a high price so better to get the 260 now if your doing any gaming. But dont be scared to buy the 720qm, benchmarks suggest that it is a very capable processor.

Yeah I was leaning that way though I do not have a need for the more powerful videocard since I mainly game on my desktop it is nice to have just in case while I am away from home (college)
Well my total comes to about 2000 even... which is about how much I saved my parents for getting Hope Scholarship maybe I will be getting a little help! -
Always upgrade the gpu first

I ordered 4pm on Thursday and on Saturday morning my order is still PENDING. Order confirmation email said a 10/28 arrival. We'll see. Stuck in PENDING isn't giving me warm and fuzzies.
-
That means there is a problem with your payment.
Call your financial institution to have them release payment to Dell. Then call Dell and get the order moving. -
-
Yeah, if the 820 keeps up with the QX9300, then the 920 should def be faster.

I seem to be in the minority that ordered with the 720qm. I did this because I thought it would be cheaper to upgrade down the roaad and originally I thought that in the next year they would refresh the clarksfield line and release more then the three current offerings so I could essentially get an even better i7 then is currently out there. Now some people in the hardware forum think arrandale will replace the clarksfield line even though arrandale is only dual core. What do you guys think about that? Its strange they are different chipsets because you can order then current M17x with quad or dual core I think the first arrandales that come out will be slower because of the lower numbers in their names (ie 620, 640, ect) do you guys think they will ever refresh clarksfield down the road or are these three processors it.
-
The last time Intel did this was when the initial Core-Duo came out. A year or so later Core 2 Duo was introduced and the first batch of them did work with the Core-Duo systems. After that you needed to upgrade to a Santa Rosa system to upgrade the proc. Maybe they'll repeat that again.

dont try to decode intels model numbers, you will only be frustrated lol

Thats cool, I understand no laptop is going to be 100% future proof but Id like to be able to upgrade to the highest of whats available in a year or so. If they had release these first gen i7s as the only ones to ever be available for PM55 that would be kinda weak. It seems that we're at the edge of a major change in processor tech. What I keep wondering is where the heck is AMD? Seemed a couple years ago they were on the leading edge for a little while now they seemed to be left behind by the goliath that is intel.
-
AMD has been using the memory controller integrated into the proc architecture for sometime now but it looks like Intel is the one doing it right.
