Ok, called this morning just to get an idea of order movement. I am already in build... quicker than I thought actually.![]()
-
It goes straight to build once your payment clears.
Nothing to get excited about, really -
Here's a review of the M15x if anyone's interested: http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews.php?reviewid=843&pageid=1

**wooohaaaa..wooohhaaaa**
-
-
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade but it took a while to get the M17x's out when first released.
I'd say 2 weeks minimum before we start getting shipment confirmations. -
-
-
That is a minimum estimate. lol
I don't foresee any delays so ya never know -
Okay so lets just estimate it will take 2 months to get here so in that case everyone will be happy when they arrive early!
-
That's a good train of thought, lilyang!
lol -
I thinking about getting this but I'm a bit confused on the processor speeds! If I got a 1.6ghz i7 wouldn't that be so slow, like 90's slow lol
-
Looks like you need to do some research, homebrewer. lol
The i7 720 will be on par with the best C2Duos. You are waaay off with the 90's slow thinking.
With turbo, that chip will hit 2.8GHz -
yes 90s slow. stay away!
-
yea the quad core running @ 1.90 ghz 40nm will be slower then a 900 mhz 10000 nm pentium 1
-
Yeah I've been living under a rock for the past year lol. So would this processor at 2.8ghz be better then a Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz or not?
-
it's a complete architecture change not just a proc change. everything runs more efficient.
-
does it matter ?
we have already said @ 1.73 ghz its as fast as a qx9300 @ 2.53 .....
so any of them will be faster then ANY mobile CPU out -
No. It would be worse. You're better off getting the Adamo with the SU9400 processor.
It is blazing fast @ 1.4GHz. -
Yeah and you spec it out to cost more so it must be better
-
-
Thats crap the M15x isn't in the business section yet of the Dell site, only the 17x right now... guess I'll have to wait as I'll get about £300 off if I order threw where my dad works
-
-
umm im thinking of upgrading the GPU ...cause from what im told they are much harder and cost more in the long run to up grade... would it be hard to add it to the order if i only placed mines 2 days ago?? or is it going to set me back ... but if im not hardcore gaming does it really matter??
-
I am pretty certain that you can't add it to your order and you would have to cancel and reorder thus setting you back :/ -
well i think ill keep it.. cause im only gettin one cause i need a laptop..nd the most ill probably get into is WOW or Aion..
-
On a side note are you able to get the TactX headsets and EPP with the m15x purchase? -
yea you can do that
-
Nice every more to tempt me
-
To put it in perspective the 240 is better then any GPU in an xps, macbook pro, and most $1500+ machines that aren't specifically for gaming. I think it will be plenty. I'm being optimistic about our chances to upgrade in the future with all these companys using MXM cards now. On a side note has anyone bought a graphics card from another manufacturer or do they all want proof that you own one of their systems. I'm really suprised there isn't specialty dealers just selling these on ebay and stuff. You would think they could make a pretty penny.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
there are not any big ebay sellers because they cannot get them either in large supply haha
-
yeah for some reason mobile gpu's are like water in a desert :/
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
ODM's just ONLY sell them to the laptop distributors (HP, Dell, Clevo, etc) so it is slim pickings for us end consumers
-
ummm idk if its me or some error.. but for some reason on my order details it has for a blue ray on it ..but i didnt select it.. i did the regular DVD.. but after doin the math with the 7% off .. everything is right and i didnt pay any extra.. i guess the only way to find out is to pop a blu ray
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
don't complain, just smile and see what happens haha
-
LOL im not...i just found that weird.. this never happens to me.. im not that lucky
-
I'm planning to get a M15x next month. The graphics card is upgradable right? Because I don't have enough to buy a GTX 260m. I'm a casual gamer, but I do play some of the latest games, can the GTX 240m handle recently released games at high settings or more? Don't flame me
(Wanting this to last until Starcraft 2 & Diablo 3 comes out)
-
it will handle them @medium settings
-
Ah crap, I guess I will have to look for another laptop with same specs or better specs next month or so. Unless I really save up for a alienware m15x. x_x
-
If you can save up for a GTX 260m, then do so. People with their M17x's at least have had a horrible time trying to upgrade, and apparently it is VERY overpriced if you buy it after the laptop. So, yes it is upgradeable but you'll end up paying a lot more for it. -
Thanks for the info, I've owned a 260m on a asus before. It ran Crysis on high to very high with no aa. So the best thing to do is save up for a 260m? Is it possible to ship it back to dellianware to upgrade the graphics card for you? (For a fee of course)
-
I think you can ship it back to them to have it upgraded, but I think most of the time they send a technician over to your house to put it in, or just send it to you to put in yourself.
But yes, I personally think the best thing to do would be to save up for a 260m considering it isn't all that much more, but it is a lot more to buy aftermarket. -
hi! does anyone have one already? and are there any reviews out for this product? i has nightmares with the last m15x. which im using now to type this post. my screen right hinge is broken so i have a hard time cloing the laptop. the toppanel is badly cracked and in on internal Intel GPU because my 8800m GTX shutsdown and gives out garbage data when i boot up. I believe that is is fried. Now i dont wanna buy another M15x unless reviews and the problems come out. i hope it is a better product than the last one.

Well after months of deliberation on whether I should spend so much money on a laptop, I finally got it confirmed that I have my new job, and the I get a juicy bonus from my current employer I decided what the hell, why not??
Just confirmed the order over the phone, shame things cost so much more in England, but for what I will be using it for, I think I'm going to be fine. Thanks for all the help and info in these threads, although I hardly post I have been trolling around absorbing all the info and I am very excited. Like a little kid on xmas eve lol.
Well here is what I went for, I was unsure if I should go black or red because there is no extra cost in the UK, but i decided on black.

Did you notice the Clevo model from Kobalt Jolliman, its a better deal in the UK than the M15x (and cheaper upgrades and extended warranty).
If you did and still went for the AW, I hope you enjoy it -
Yea, I have looked at that laptop. For the same configuration I am getting now the prices are pretty much the same but the Kobalt comes with a 280M instead of a 260M. From what I have read here the is very little difference between the two so that didnt sway me all the much.
Although like you said, the upgrade are alot cheaper (nearly £300 cheaper for the i7 820QM) I decided that as I am spending so much money which ever laptop I choose I would go with the good looking one. I have been fantasising about actually getting an alienware laptop for a while now, and as I am in a position to be able to get one now I decided to do it. For what I will be using it for, what I have will be good enough, and I can always look at swapping out the cpu later if I want too.
All in all I'm pretty excited with what I have, even if the reason that swayed me into choosing it was so I have a sexy looking -
Why cant Alienware find a New name for there laptops & keep repeating Old name again & again ?
And will there be a New Alien 17'" laptop with core i7 anytime soon ?
wonder if they will still repeat the same name again ? -
