I've shipped as well, monday is going to be loooong. I wonder if they will leave it if I'm not home, if this is the case I might see if they will hold it at fedex and I'll drive and pick it up after class.

 

Build time is listed as 15 days now instead of 20.

Looks like the launch of the M15x will be much smoother than the M17x

 

From my experience. Signature is required. I believe because it is a high priced item. If you are not home, you may have to pick it up at your local FedEx.

 

if you leave a signed note they can "release" it. I typed a note, signed it, and photocopied my drivers license (in color) to make sure since I would be at work when it shipped (I am in a safe neighborhood haha)

I also found out if they dont leave it and you get home while the driver is still out on the road, he will leave his phone number and you will be able to meet him back at fedex before he unloads for the day. Might even convince him to come back or meet you along the route somewhere.

 

I just leave a note that says "Fedex - please leave package inside porch" with my name signed.

That is all and it always works

I thought this was a single cable originally but it is an adapter. well it says audio/video so hopefully it works.

Now you just gotta hope that the M15x DisplayPort pushes audio as well.

 

I heard that it was possible on the studio xps 16 models to push audio through them but not entirely sure if that was confirmed or not. Hope dell decided to pull through on this one and not go apple's route by removing the audio in their mini DP standard.

I'm curious too, as the NP8690 has less than 200 nits and that is rather disappointing for a LED screen, considering the Macbook Pro screen is 300+ and very well lit and gorgeous. I marvel at the well lit glossy screen of my boy's 17" Macbook Pro and its beautiful picture.

 

Didn't someone mention that the NP8690 in North America was going to have LG screens and therefore look real nice? From what I remember from the driverheaven review, they did state that the M15x display was beautiful. No mention of a low nit. Guess I will find out on Monday.

That's weird. I just placed my order today and they gave me the headset for free =S My first purchase ever from alienware. Hope it doesn't disappoint!

P.S. I received a free tactX headset when I ordered my m17x back 09/14/09. I cancel the m17x order(Which it is on it's way back to Dell) , but I still kept the headset anyway.

Yeah. the Core i7 is expensive too. If they have that in a 17" by AW. I would jump on it. I've been using a 15.6" lappy for too long. Time for a change.

 

Yup. It is. That's why I went for the 720 instead of the 820 since I figure GPU first then I can upgrade the CPU later elsewhere. Got all that with the headset for 1,890 Thanks to my amazing rep =D

Is it possible to order an additional battery after the fact?

I thought you used to be able to for some of the other laptops, but I didnt see one for the 15x...personally Id rather just pick up a second battery then go with the bulkier 9 cell, but if its not possible I suppose I better order the 9 cell now.

 

Dell is really good with spare parts. You'll be able to eventually buy it if it's not available right now.

 

Placed my order on Wednesday, the 23rd and Fed-Ex is delivering next Tuesday, the 6th. Can't wait. One quick Alienware noob question, is the Nvidia card upgradeable? Got the 512 240M,didn't have the extra $300 for the 1 gig card.

 

It will cost more to upgrade later, but the 260 will be available.

how can i tell if im getting the headset for free?

and i didnt pay for the Blueray player but it shows up on my order sheet

I would call your rep to ensure you got the free headset. As for the Blu-Ray thing, that looks wierd, but I would ask about that too. I'm sure they know what you ordered, and wouldn't just toss in a blu-ray player that you didn't pay for.

 

You would have two order number if you have a free headset. one order for the laptop and one order for the headset. If you don't have two order receipt, then you didn't get the headset. If you do call back and want the headset, 1)you would have to cancel and re-order, which will delay the process again. or 2)The rep might send it after the laptop have shipped, to avoid a big hassle of return/re0order.

 

So i should have gotten the Free Headset?

, the non english speaking women says because my order is in Production, they can not do anything to add the headset to my order..
but when placing my order it said Nowhere anything about a free headset, so why would i select the option to pay $75 of course i did not select the headset for purchase as i did not wanna pay $75 for it..

 

Man that thing is chunky in that video. I can't get over how much of a fatty it is for a 15.6" notebook.

I bet the cooling rocks, but 65w max and no upgrade to a 280M is a bit of a downer. Wouldn't mind seeing a 4870 in there.

Let me guess. You ordered a DVD and not a blu ray correct? I had the same problem, but I ordered blu ray and blu ray was listed twice and the DVD burner was listed once. Probably a problem with their system. Just my guess.

well for some reason, Alienware is not open 24/7 for custom service like the website says...

And the Dell people can do nothing for me. Dell's customer service soo far has be Really Really BAD!! I was hung up on 3 times, and got told alot that i could not cancel my order, LOL please its my order and my money, and they havent charged me yet, so i can cancel it.. But all Dells BS aside im just gonna call Alienware Tomorrow and have them sort it out.

Any confirmations if you both are getting the Tact X headsets? Those were listed at 2 lbs. Just wondering.

 

I ordered mine through EPP. There wasn't an option for headsets (just checked and still no option). Looking at the order I don't see anything about a headset, but hey if Dell wants to give me something for free (yeah right) I'll take it. I'll report back when I get back home on Friday.

 

Mine gained the 2lbs as well. Should be in my hands by 4:30 tonite. Going to be a looong day.

 

My rep told me to re-order if I wanted the headset.

So I highly doubt I'm getting it....

 

i called about the headset, placed my order on october 1st, they said its too late. if you look online, the headset offer doesn't seem to be there anymore either.
