The real issue to me here is that thing is a total HAWG so a 240m or a 260m seems totally underwhelming . If it were the size of a Macbook Pro then it would be some amazing stuff but not so much considering its size.

Agree 10000000000000000000000000%, quad.
Let's hope that those Germans got it slightly wrong -
-
Oh, and what a crappy way to break 4k posts......

Alienware M15x: the adopted red headed child. Everyone was so excited but when it arrived we were sorely dissapointed.
Alienware M17x here i come! -
Could very well have different options for US customers.
-
I pray you're right, drake.
We shall find out tomorrow -
If they happened to offer SLi in the M15x it would make their M17x sales suffer greater. I can see reason why they would not want to. And thermal issues could've been a problem too.
-
Lol yes for Europe and the rest of the world its a single 240m and for the US its QuadSLI and starting at $1499.00
. All jokes aside its probably going to be the same for everyone and the machine is clearly targeting a different audience then the total hardcore nut jobs like us
.
-
When you guys say sli do you mean switchable graphics or like 2 gtx 260m?
-
-
you can get a display port to hdmi caple pretty cheap but does it carry sound?
-
Like 2xGTX260 is what people mean.
-
But what audience...?
-
.
-
i play on a single 260 and haven't found something i couldn't max out
-
-
Well, the price of the upgrade from 240 --> 260 better only be like $150 MAX.
-
-
Someone should change the title of the thread since it seems everyones just changed their minds now
. But I guess tommorow will be the 'official' word. Durn Germans...
-
:::cue water boy voice:::
The search continues.....
Guess I'll be waiting some more -
.
-
I don’t think all of us have change our minds but the vid card is a little disappointing in some regards.
-
thats because every one was crazy and thought you were gonna see 5870's
4870 was the MAX you were gonna see and the 260=280
so unless you were hoping for a 4870 you should not be disappionted.
kinda common sense ...... nothing new is out so why would every one be mad ? -
Well, TBH quad I was really amped for the new M15x for months.
It is a let-down and I'll just have to be patient (NOT one of my good traits, for sure). -
-
If its the same 260 that M17x has and not some downclocked under powered wannabe it should still do very well honestly . Especially at 1600x900. I think it will be great for the MMO people on the go since it will have a mighty CPU to back it up . Im having fun poking at it because people expected alot more but i think we all knew it was not going to be anything crazy like many had hoped for.
-
I am not out yet -- I'll see what Dell is gonna price this thing at first
If I can get another good deal than maybe-probably...... -
-
and those countless nights staying up with moo just waiting for a leak.....?worthless.
-
:::tears rolling down cheek:::
thanks quad!
Nah, I'm allright.
I mean, it's just a laptop, right?
RIGHT??????? -
no its not
/slap/ -
It wasn't a waste. This is a part of waiting for the latest thing. Sometimes you win and sometimes you feel like CRAP haha.
-
:::snaps out of stupidity:::
ASKDNFKA! Thanks for the slap, moo! I needed that
Come on, TGS! We got like 24 more hours....... -
Does anyone know if the GTS260M will have ddr5?
-
-
Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
LOL @ people who said SLI in a 15" .there are very few laptops with 4850/260m so its nice to have one more choice. This will be successful for the right price. Frankly for my purposes I do not need/want i7 so I wish there as some dumbed down model in the sub $1300 range.

Power Budget -- that could only mean the max limit, right?
So 1 card can use 63W for the 65W limit, if I'm not mistaken...... -
-
It said GTX 260. Not the same people....
I know it is from a shaky source but it seems like he said that a few times. -
Thats good news. Notebookcheck shows ddr3 as an option below.

No where does it say GTS260. lol
It is a GT240 and GTX260. -
That and confuses me. -
I guess I will be keeping *my* version of the older generation M15X just a little longer since it seems that mine has a more powerful graphics card:yes: For now I will just upgrade my screen with a 1920 x 1200, fix my hinges and call it a day. God Bless
-
Yeah thats why i said before maybe something got lost in the translation
.
-
its GT 240m and GTX 260m not GTS
-
Well, if it is a GTS260 it better have GDDR5
-
-
Personally I'd take the GTS 260m over the GTX 260m...especially since there's no switchable graphics The performance difference between the two is probably less than that between the GTX 260m and the GTX 280m.
