There is switchable graphics according to nbjournal.
There is no Fn+f7 according to the UM so I dunno???
-
-
These companys seriously need to climb aboard the ATI train
.. Im sick of hearing about another underwhelming Nvidia card myself.
-
PM55 chipset according to the specs. No IGP in that chipset from what I've read.
http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13206&Itemid=1
No specs yet on Intel.com though. -
So, nbjournal is looking a little sketchy. If they are saying there is switchable graphics and there isn't, maybe they got other things wrong as well?
::says prayer:: -
Maybe the support for switchable graphics is there but you won't be able to use it until next year when you swap the crappy Clarksfield for a 32-nm Westmere.
-
I said this earlier. If you look at the manual, it shows all the options in the bios and explain what the options do. There is NO options for intergrated graphics at all. There would be something in there to at least turn it off.
-
I am assuming that if there was switchable graphics, it must be done through the BIOS (If at all possible). -
switchable = stealth
-
Stealthmode could do a serious downclock on a 40-nm GPU and add a good bit of battery life.
On a lighter note check how that 16:9 screen cuts down the peak on the lid. ;þ -
I am digging the overall look of the system, just not sure about specs yet
-
Seems the GT240M is rather weak; around 5800 in 3DMark06 @ 1280x1024...? I think this is worse than the Dell Studio XPS 16 with the ATI 4670... which also has HDMI.
edit: (though the score depends on the CPU used, I guess i7 will boost it) -
You can cook an egg on the 1640, though
-
I'm still onboard to buy this thing I'm just slightly dissapointed that Im going to have to buy a $500+ card in a year instead of just getting the best of whats available now. I wasn't expecting the m15x to have a 5000 series or anything but I was thinking either a 4870 or 280m would be available, theres plenty of other laptops with similar specs out there so this thing better be cheap.
-
..for the last time !
a 260 is = to a 280 -
This may be posted and I can't understand a word he's saying, but here is a video that has the m15x.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8jlL5MvZ_g -
You're about 75 posts late, I'm afraid. lol
-
Moo it will never ever be the last time and you will be saying this same thing a year from now
.
-
Has anyone realized how easily the man in the video picked up both the laptop with just one arm?
And that right arm doesn't even show signs of flexing or struggling at all!
Old man. I bet he uses that arm a lot.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -

That's the first thing I noticed. lol
Those europeans get there excersise, though -
-
I wish they had it in cyborg green, over all I am satisfied with everything but was hoping they were going to slim it down looks pretty bulky so this may be a conflict as I was looking to replace my m5750 with something I could take to class everyday, hopefully the battery life will be good at least
-
-
It looks about as portable as the M17x
.
-
cyborg green is the BOMB
if they released it ....... i would buy it QUICK! -
Haha yeah the green was always how I pictured AW notebooks, the blue was not bad but they should totally bring back the cyborg and the specs would just not matter

Because the sheep/joe sixpacks are uneducated -
why do you think i tell people to get a 260 SLI instead?
anyway
the 260 and 280 are physically the same card with 12 less SP but other then that they are identical -

It is nebula red. lol
You can't photograph the red aluminum - it looks waaaay better in person -
I was thinking exactly the same thing too, Rengsey.
It's more like a nail polish red that my sister has and it's quite unattractive; Also considering that it doesn't look as if the paint job was done correctly - Not sleek. It's almost like alienware was trying to get those test units out as soon as possible. -
Are you saying they would exclude a whole feature (switchable graphics) only to introduce it with a new motherboard a few months from now? I dont think even dell would do its customers like that. I would hope not anyway. I'm really hoping the graphics are switchable because other then a smaller screen this would probably make the battery life less then the m17x which doesn't make much sense. -
no its battery life with the 240 would be better IMO
-
And maybe a new F7 key. -
Does the nebula red really look that bad? I was thinking either the black or red since I already have a silver AW, and that battery life better be at least 2-3 hours at bare minimum :/
-
Here's the 1,000 dollar question that (unless I haven't refreshed pages enough) no one has answered yet.
When using a Displayport-HDMI cable or Displayport-HDMI adapter, is audio transmitted from the couputer to the speakers of your television through the displayport?
I've already read that displayport can transmit audio, but can it transmit audio when being adapted into hdmi???? -
Oh I didn't even know cpus like that were coming out thats pretty sick.

Whoa! I go to class (this is not your mother's Linear Algebra!) and when I come back I realize I missed out on all the fun. Anyway, already read everything I missed
What I don't get is why people keep matching the 2 computers up. 1 is for one market desktop replacement, and the other one a true mobile (technically) laptop. All those disappointed are so because of comparing different systems.
With that out of the way, the base card seems weak. BUT, perhaps with the other mixtures like the i7, etc., it isn't so bad. I like it. I'm actually bummed about the size, and the hdmi. Other than that, it's OK.
Also, Sleey0, couldn't you fit your other 280m in it somehow? Just thinking. JDeluna fit a 280 on an m15x so...
Anyway, what other news are out there? -
I agree that its for 2 different markets but i dont consider this new machine truly mobile in the traditional sense of a 15 inch machine, so really there both DTRs one just lacks SLI
.
-
Those jokers took down the M15x selector on the support site. lol
The direct link still works though.
Must have gotten a butt-load of traffic hahahah. -
I see your point. What I don't understand is why this thread was renamed "All Powerful", more like "Allright"
-
Batboy renamed it for me.
I guess it follows the M17x Allpowerful lineage, right?
Wanted to avoid confusion with the old m15x...... -
Yeah thats why i suggested "Almost Powerful" as it had a nice ring to it

Owners lounge with 400 replies and no one owns it. Except for that freakishly strong European...
-
Once manuals are up and a date is set (especially this close), an owner's lounge is fair game. lol
Tomorrow I might be joining this club! -
