In Israel, Dell sells m17x-R1 w/1920x1200, 280m GTX SLI, 4 gigs 1066Mhz memory,q9000 and 1 year basic warranty for 4,300 USD so UK prices are very attractive to us :)...

I think Israel gov need tax money due to war, same thing happens in my country before they defeat LTTE terrorists about year ago.

Well, there are no import taxes in israel, just 16% VAT.. so the rest is not going to the goverment, it's going directly to dell's pocket.

It never happened to me after the switch.

Actually, I was thinking about getting the RGB (just the part not labour) from Dell. Does anyone know the prices?

Btw, meant to post this Sunday. I ordered a I-Inc iH-282HPB 28" Class Widescreen LCD Monitor from CircuitCity.com (owned by Tigerdirect) for $276 after my Bing cash back. If interested search circuit city in Bing shopping for 10% off. I got 15% on Sunday. Like I've said before, my AW is a desktop replacement so of course I had to replace my monitor. Peace.

    High-level specs: I-Inc iH-282HPB 28" Class Widescreen LCD Monitor - 1920 x 1200, 15000:1 Dynamic, 800:1 Contrast, 16:10, 3ms, VGA, HDMI

hell.....that's a lot! I thought it's pure tax. I need to pay 200% import tax + 15%VAT for the original value of the computer if it's worth more than $1000

No tax for computer items less than $1000. :D

If it makes you feel better, while some think the 820QM is the best one for the money, I think it's actually the worst. 720QM or 920XM FTW. ;)

I have bitten the bullet and changed my G73 pre-order to a m17x-r2 order. It feels like I have gone from the light to the dark side and it feels pretty great.

Since I don't have time to read the entire m17 forum, I wanted to ask, I ordered the m17 today, and it says my ETA is Friday, how is that even possible?

Also I have seen some synthetic benchmarks, could anyone point me in the way of actual gaming fps?

I don't see it this way, the 820 has the best turbo capacity of them all, that's a plus. The 820 has perfect speeds somewhat faster as a QX9300 but for a whay better price tagg... The 720 is the worst in turbo and unfortunatly the 920 is too expensive when living in Europe... €1039,98 = $1454,31

So for me the 820 is clearly a winner allthough a would like to get a 920...

Well, with HT it evens things out a bit.

I just wish I could oc it as the TDP is way less than the quads. It would probably smoke all but the 920XM gets all the love :(

With the qx9300s the OEMs were shown to OC far past what the ES would do

Mine's here! Just got it a few minutes ago. BTW sleey0, I can't really tell the difference in build quality/materials compared to the M15x. Palm rest is plastic just like the M15x while the chasis is a Mg/Alu alloy. The RGB LED screen is very bright and the deep color gamut hits you right off the bat. I saw a stuck blue pixel at the bottom left when I first turned it on but it seems to have gotten unstuck so hopefully it doesn't come back. Wow this thing is massive, quite a bit bigger than the M15x from what I remember. Going to clone this drive so I can install my SSD and make this the secondary. So far it's every bit as quite as the M15x and the screen is definitely one of the nicest I've seen yet on a notebook. I think you'll be pleased sleey0 but it does have that red shift just like the SXPS 16 RGB LED.

Unless Dell changed the chassis of the M15x, the M17x is no comparison. Your memory must be short with this. lol

The chassis is made from Aluminum, and there is maybe a little bit of mg thrown in (around the fans etc). Yes, the palmrest is platic, but the lid and chassis are much different.

I had both at the same time and the M17x was way better.

I am glad you like it! CAn't wait to hear more!!
