Congrats! We know you to be a REAL display critic, so is this the BEST LCD you've seen to date or what? More details please...

    Dang.

Can anyone explain to me why it does that? It is the ONLY system I have ever seen that has that weird cursor movement.

So, compared to the RGB in the SXPS, how is it? Are blacks nice and inky? :D

Well I'm a big fan of RGB LED displays but this one is very similar to the one found on the SXPS 16. It has the same exact red shift so whites appear reddish out of the box. It definitely needs some calibration to get the whites right. To give you guys an example, I took a picture of the screen next to my girlfriend's Studio XPS 16 1080p WLED. Keep in mind, the phone exaggerates the reddish appearance of the RGB LED but as I said, it is there:

Just want to give a shout-out to Joker who helped me along the path towards the m17x and how to get a better price. I really hope someone gets some gaming fps benchmarks up soon, just so I can justify the purchase.

For those curious about DPC latency stuttering, it's non-existant with the M17x-R2:

I don't think getting the 920 over the 820 was worth the big jump in cost. Unless you are into benchmarking or truly need the 920 (for what I don't know), the 820 is more than enough to run any program out there. Getting the 820 over the 720 wasn't that big of an upgrade cost so I think it is worth it.

Ok one more bit of good news for those that don't want to do vbios flashing for overclocking. I suspected last night that the Rivatuner .cfg device id addition would work in enabling OC'ing and it does:

    Instructions are simple:

    1. Download RivaTuner
    2. Download GPU-Z
    3. Take the last 4 letters of your device id (e.g. 945A is mine)
    4. Open up rivatuner's cfg file with notepad
    5. Scroll to GPU_1002 and find RV770. Add in your device id + 'h' (e.g. 945Ah) and save the file. Back up the original cfg and replace it with the new one.
    6. Click the Power User tab in RivaTuner
    7. Find Rivatuner\System and find "ATiMultiGPUClockControl" and set it to 1. Next locate Rivatuner\Overclocking\ATi and find "EnableDriverLevel3DClockControl" and "EnableDriverLevelControl" and choose 1 for both.
    8. Set the new clock for BOTH GPUs in RivaTuner.
    9. Run gpuz to confirm the new clocks on each card.

Wow I ordered less than 2 hours ago and status already changed to In Production, either AW/Dell is pulling a fast one on me, or could it really be here in 2 days.

Benchmarking and Encoding will certainly favor the 920... 820 for everything else is perfect :)... I have an 820 coming for mine even though i ordered with with the 720... Not in the mood to dump all that cash on the 920 but if you got it certainly spend it to have the best :D....

Ok, just got mine maybe 45min. ago and am playing around a little bit before I wipe and reload a clean install. First of all as many have been saying, the RGB LED is amazing and easily the most important upgrade for this sytem. And like Mandrake, I too need to drop the brightness down a little bit. This is really night and day compared to the R1.

I didn't max much out over stock config, just an i7 720QM and a single ATI, but I think for my needs this will be a great system. I was using a 4.5 year old Inspiron 9300 after all, lol. I just ran 3DMark Vantage using the default Performance option and here is what I got in case people are wondering how a single card system performs:

    I love my 720QM.

As far as guys having issues with the video, it ran Crysis maxed out great for me (@1080p).

I used the drivers from Dell.

Also, mine did NOT have the 2nd hard drive cage and SATA connecter. Called Alienware, got one on the way.
