Lol. Its actually one dog, but he sheds for two.
Is it safe to put it on glass?
I have a desk, but it would take hours for me to actually ORGANIZE the desk.

The girlfriend keeps trying to trick me into getting a "kitty."

The moment it accidented my whole m17x or chewed my ps3 or got its hair in my server, it would be so drowned. It's better off in a home where it won't get strangled.

You can try to train it not to go into certain rooms, my dog doesn't go in mine.

    Oh crap.
    Bye!
EDIT: Does anyone know the number I can call to see where my replacement there sending me is? They said it should be here today on the phone last week but it's still "In production" on dell's website.
EDIT2: And on the order status page the ETA says: Data Temporarily Unavailable.

Hello to all of you guys. Just wanted to state a few problems I experienced with my AW M17X-R2 I had before shipping the damn thing back to dell.
I see most of you had the same problems I had. However I also had some other problems.
The RGB LED screen a beautiful screen no doubt about that. But I got 3 dead pixels on it.
Also anyone ordered it with the Blu-ray writer the matchita UJ235 ( if I remember correctly ). Please try and see if you can play blu-ray movies smoothly. What I got was for every 2-3 minutes the movie was lagging because the blu-ray writer was trying to read from the disc. I mean thats sooo embarassing, I can perfectly watch blu-ray movies on the ps3 which prob is the slowest blu-ray rom ever.
Also one other thing. When I tried to run the pc on the battery, even if I chose the high performance setting and set all the individual settings to 100%, max performace ... etc I couldnt play any games at all.
Plus after shutting it down and plugging it to the power cable it just wouldnt start. All it did was that the fans where working in maximum revs and no picture. Fortunetly it did start after I rebooted it from the power button.
And last and probably funniest. I turn of the laptop, plugged in everything fine and after the main screen goes off it just tells me that my charger is not a dell one and the pc cannot continue with entering into windows. I mean fffff man I know its not a Dell, and thats what it came with.
Overall the pc I have ever owned. I would rather eat the money than ending up with this.
Sorry if I was a bit rude but I am very dissapointed.
I will be looking forward for AW making some very good fixes to those stuff and then I might be considering of buying again from then. At the moment I am specking up an ASUS G73 ( just wished I could own a desktop unfortunatley I am moving all the time )

Btw I am sorry I didnt write what my specs where
M17x-R2 Nebula Red, i7 920 xm, 4 gig ram, dual ati 4870 crossfire, RGB LED 1200p, BD-RE, dual 500 gig hard drives no raid, I think thats about it
Now I have a Vaio FW51M absolute solid laptop. I had another vaio before and they are perfect, totally problem free and ofcourse no dead pixels

Since you sent it back already, this probably won't help, but... the PSU is dell (actually made by flextronics, but I digress). If you get that message, unplug the PSU from the wall, let it power down completely (effectively rebooting your PSU), then plug it back in. Also make sure the DC side is seated in the jack on your machine. I've seen that message before and those actions seemed to help.

Hey everyone, im new to this forum, ive got an m17xR2 with the i7 920XM processor with the daul ati graphics. When it arrived the first thing i installed was crysis warhead, and maxed out everything. I enabled turbo mode, OC'ed at 5%, and crossfirex but it wasnt like what happened with you guys, the screen flickered but the image that was flickering whilst playing was the desktop background but it didnt happen so often. Whilst gaming i kept cpuz running but the processor never gave it all its got, it would only go up to 2.5GHz.

I was just wondering whether this happened to any other 920XM user. seeing as i just got it should i call dell or just wait for the bios update? and what can i do to see if my processor can be fully utilized?

So far i have not seen the flickering like the other users here and the only difference between my system and yours is the RGB LED.

I believe Crysis takes advantage of all 4 cores so that's why you likely aren't seeing turbo mode exceed 2.5 GHz. If you use a dual core application, you will see it scale higher. Congrats on the new system and welcome to NBR.

I place my cooler on my lap and then the laptop on top of it. Works fine and there is plenty of space for the thing to "breathe". I've never had a problem with anything overheating and having the cooler also keeps my legs from getting too hot. :)

Tadaaaa !!! This is writen with my new M17x !! and man the beast is gorgeous. I am now installing all my gadgets ( G9x, G15, External HDDs, and all that ... then, i'll run some tests for all... Happy as ever now !!! my keyboard seems ok, the touchpad seems to jump and not react very well, but I won't be using all that much... played with the sensitivity and other stuff to make it more to my taste and it's already better.

I hate to keep on this, but I dont want the VM issue to drop off AW's radar....there NEEDS to be a way to run vmware with HW Virtualisation on, currently it is disabled in the BIOS with no way to turn it on. This means while I can install XP Mode, it will not run, ALSO, I can not install a 64bit guest OS in vmware.

This is a real potential deal breaker here for me. I am gonna play a bit, as I have 21 days, but clock is ticking

    Nope, it requires VT-x.
EDIT: Again, can we use nested paging? Intel implemented it nehalem processors, and clarksfield processors are based on nehalem so.... I think we can use it.

Nope..no XP Mode......I can install but wont start due to HW Virt being disabled in BIOS, basically ALL virt use in this is dead in the water, which, I dont get it, the chips can do it, why would they not have a way to turn on in the BIOS...Heya AW rep....any comments ?
