There is no third 100$. It is 10% EPP(Aka 100$), 100$ off 999, 50$ newsletter.
-
Ah got it. Thanks!
-
Thank you for clarifying. That's what I got. All this talk of $350 off was confusing.
-
Oh and Dell 3% EPP(20-30$) if you can get it applied.
-
has anybody thats ordered from the UK site received an order confirmation yet ? i only have a order acknowledged email .... and that email states that as soon as payment has been taken i should get a order acknowledged email. money has gone but no email
... help
-
This system seems to be perfect for my needs, shame about the price hike though. "fully specced out for $1,000" my . =(
As I live in the UK the price is obviously higher since the conversion rate is so much more, I was wondering if it would be cheaper to buy it from the american site?
I know there's shipping costs and VAT costs when it actually gets to the UK, but is it cheaper/can the VAT be bypassed in some way? Perhaps by using one of those companies that 'give' me a US address to send the package to and then they send it out to me? -
I was just thinking would it be unwise to assume that because this can run mass effect 2 that it do dragon age fine? I had a 2.4ghz c2d that went to 100% CPU usage with it lol and I need to beat it...
-
Can't wait to get this thing, working on getting some more discounts added to my order. It does what I need perfectly and will be a good study tool haha. All I really care about it running is Starcraft II and Diablo III on high, everything else is just a bonus.

Anyone know if US Dell ships Canada?
Configuring the same build with coupons and stuff it's $400 difference...
also, can't find where the bluetooth is on Canadian dell website..
:/ -
They probably don't that is why you have your own website. Why not call the Dell Canada EPP and ask about bluetooth? Your conversion rate is lower or w/e that's why it costs more and Dell is a US company.
-
IGN's review states they ran ME2 with high settings at native screen res and it played at 50 to 60fps. Looked smooth in the brief review.
This makes sense, considering the GPU is doing a lot of the heavy work with ME2, since designed for consoles. Perhaps Alienware knew what they were doing mix ingthe 335m 1gb with the SU7300. I mention the 7300, since that is what is used in the reviews and demonstrations. -
The thing is dao is CPU hungry not sure about me2 though so I don't want to assume..
-
Give them a call or chat with them online mate, I was in the same situation, but being an extremely impatiant person, i gave em a call after 3 hours, and was told that my order was on hold due to no payment, my bank decided to cancel the payment, as they thought it was fraudulant, quick call to the bank while chatting to the dell rep online, and all was sorted. I suggest you chat with them online, they are extremely helpful.
-
i'm looking forward to maybe buying one this year. i really want a machine that just can play modern games and get good battery life for under a grand. i like the mobility from this thing...
-
Filipp, could you be nice enough to post the codes you used? I know of the EPP discount, 100/1000, and 50 one, where does the other 100 one come from
-
i have spoken to them online and they cant seem to tell me anything. as far as i can see the money has gone from my credit card. can you tell me which bank this was this ?
why would a bank think a purchase from Dell is a fraudulant transaction ? -
I went to a shop 30 mins ago - just to see how small 11.6inches is. Guys, its pretty small, I saw a 13 inch first, thinking its an 11.6 and I thought that was small, but wow, it will be hard to enjoy a youtube vid on these small screens let alone gaming.
-
It is really down to the low native resolution and the resolution used on the game - which allows it to play smooth, rather than the hardware combo IMHO.

Ironically, I'm using a 10.1" netbook for everything I do already (lower resolution too), so this is actually a huge improvement!

^ if you're at home stick a external screen to it. not a big issue.
I'm on alienware right now and i notice the price went from 90 to 100 for the cpu upgrade.
*EDIT*
4gb upgrade went up 5 bucks too so everything went up i'm assuming. -

Ordered mine yesterday for my wife... can't wait.. 3/5 delivery date... she is going to love it.
-
chewietobbacca Notebook Evangelist
Well that's the thing though... for the hardware combo, the native resolution is perfect.
It's like when people buy a notebook with a 1600 x 900 native resolution and wonder why their G 210M or whatever can't play anything on it... or having a 5800 card on a 1366 x 768 resolution...
This notebook happens to have the right hardware for the right screen and vice versa -

Those prices are the 10% off when using the EPP discount on Alienware products -

oh okay dang..i can easily afford one if i get approved for DPA. the last time i tried maybe almost a year ago i didn't get approved. -
I'd like to thank the Notebookreview staff and community. Without everyone posting all these deals here, I probably would not have been able to order an m11x.
-
There isn't a third 100$,the email I got just duplicated the codes so it didn't apply it or anything. I used the 10%(100$ EPP), 100$ off 999, 50$ newsletter.
-
I guess, I am using a 17.3'', so its probably why it will affect me so much.
-

Is the cpu upgrade a MUST? I know the difference and similarity but I just want to know is it reallllly worth the extra 100?
-
It definitely is not worth it. You will get sub 5% improvement.
-
chewietobbacca Notebook Evangelist
No, the performance difference is < 5%
Most are hoping the SU7300 is overclockable, which will then make a bigger difference -
I went from 15.6" to 11" then to 12", not much difference really, I can always hook it up to 42" tv
-
Eggs Scrambled posted something earlier about the two cpu on how they are pretty much the same. which one is worth getting? Has anyone chosen the su4100?
-
I take it many here haven't been using laptops all that long. The standard screen size used to be around 11 inches (back when Pentium MMX was the new thing), then 12.1 inch around the time DVD drives became mainstream; desktop monitors average about 15 inches at the time. Nobody had any complaints about size back then. The only reason the m11x screen seems so small is that we've been spoiled by ginormous 17 inch (and now 18 inch) screens. Personally, if I have a 17 inch on my lap, it's difficult to see everything on screen at once... kind of like I'm sitting in one of the front rows at a movie theater.

yeah I read up on that I just really want to know if its worth to upgrade. -
BOTTOM LINE ABOUT THE CPUs:
It is CONFIRMED that the 7300 can easily be overclocked with only a 1 degree temperature increase, yielding a performance increase of about 20%.
It is NOT CONFIRMED that the lower-end processor can be overclocked, or that it would produce similar results if overclocked.
THUS, you are SPECULATING and TAKING A RISK by assuming there will only be a minor performance difference between processors,. If performance is a concern, the only safe bet is to go with the 7300. -
I get the feeling some are trying to make themselves feel better about ordering a m11x with the inferior processor before learning about how well the 7300 overclocks by speculating and downplaying would could be a substantial difference.
-
I'm 99.99% sure US Dell will NOT ship to Canada. They also will almost certainly not accept a non-US card/paypal account.
The coupons really help the US price. And of course, we always get screwed on the conversion, even though the CDN dollar is 95% of the US, the prices don't reflect that.
For anyone not in the US, there are companies that will pay with a US account and ship to a US address and then on to you. But once you take into account shipping, duties, plus the fee the company takes (usually around 5-10%), it's usually not worth it. -
+1
-
Besides if you're EPP you can just get it for free now with the $100 off coupon that shipped out today:

I just ordered... says my order is "processing" I used my new DPA that I was approved for yesterday...
2 questions if I may?
Is it interest free for 12 months? I saw a blurb, but it said xps systems.
How can I tell if it took the extra 3% off? Since my oder status is processing it gives no shipping or billing info...
Thanks a bunch!
The interest free is no biggie, but was curious why it said xps systems when I was obviously ordering a M11x -
It's not taking 3% off on the website. If you want the 3% you need to call in.
-
Can someone explain how EPP works? Is every discount posted here required to be an EPP member? Can anyone apply even if I don't work for dell?
Thanks -
Thanks Flipp, sweet no biggie, now I know... anyone know about the interest free for 12 months then on dpa?
LOL, if I hit f5 and see my order still processing one more time, haahaa -
Thats not true at all. I can do this in my cart no problem. My rep has the cart saved and as soon as my refund for the XPS 16 goes through I'm ordering the follow, and it doesn't show my 3% off DPA yet:
-
I don't see how this laptop can handle Win7 and games so much better than other net books - which have identical hardware but with an IGPU. Does having that GPU transform a laptop from a shoddy netbook to something that can suddenly play games on high settings? What gives?!
-
where can I find the $100 off systems $1000 or more coupon? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
The CPU is much better than an atom
-
Have to be EPP member to get it.
-
The 335m is equal to 2 9600GT's basically so yes putting a beefy video card into a small laptop lets you play high end games since games are 90% GPU dependent.
-
I am a EPP member, but I still cannot find it.
