I'm either going to wait a few days for someone to bios mod the overclock option in bios to 1.9 or whatever else is stable, or I'm going to do it myself.

It was done in my 1000he to get it to 2ghz when the high performance toggle was on, It'll be done on the m11x.

oh btw vegenigma, I'm sorry if my posts seemed to come across as cold hard fact, I assure you it was not my intention. If I ever tried to pass something off as fact it must have been the green leprechaun on my shoulder finally getting to me.

It doesn't matter anymore since it has been confirmed the su4100 overclocks.

and sleey0 I WILL SUCCEED IN MY QUEST ;) (i.e: my first alienware will be bricked in record time)

everyone who ordered an m11x, your mission if you choose to accept it is to call 1-800-433-9014, give them your order number, and report back what your shipping status is.

When you call that number they give you more info than simply "in production" as the order status website gives.

yeah my order is being processed too, this doesn't seem like a great sign because I think it's actually supposed to tell you it's being kitted or something...that's supposed to be the first step they let you know about on the phone. The second step is being built which is before boxing and such.

Mine is being processed and EDD is 3/4 as well.

I suggest you go to target and get the cush desk. The m11x looks like it has very adequate cooling and the cush desk will just help for when you're on something padded like a bed where the fan might not be able to draw a lot of air due to the padding gumming up the fan's air draw area.

I already have a notepal infinite by cooler master, by far my personal favorite, for the simple fact that the exhaust blows out the back, and the bottom that sits on my lap is perfectly smooth and I don't have to worry about blocking vents.

    I'll check those coolers out.

I got a Logitech one at Target; but the fan is in the center. Since the M11X has the intake on the top left; I don't think it'll be adequate.

Commander sir! I accepted the mission, called the number, and got the same BS I get on the website:

    Order received yesterday.

    Its in Process

Expected to ship on or before 3-4-10

BLAH, I want my new Precious NOW!

Haha good, I was glad to see so many people getting use out of those coupons, Dell was probably like "What the heck?".

Does anyone decided on an External dvd or blu ray yet? I have been lookin around, and really not sure what I am going to get.
    Any Ideas?

I know for me, it at least has to be a slot loaded one, I have not decided whether I need blu ray or not yet.

Has anyone used the slot loaded external ones from Dell?

DVD / Blu Ray is a dieing format. I wouldn't spend 170$ on an external blu ray if I were you. Just pick up a 40-50$ external DVD burner and that should be fine.

That thing is almost bigger than the laptop! :)

Also, for those that are hoping to get this thing sooner, I am with you, but the report is that it will not begin shipping until March 1st. I'm not sure why they put it on pre-sale so early. I sure hope they decide to ship earlier than that, but I think we are all in for a LOOONG wait... I keep telling myself that it gives me time to see if any other companies release something better for the same price. I surely doubt it, but just in case...

I actually looked at that one already, but really it is way to big for me, I am looking for something a lot slimmer, but good link, someone else might be interested.

Though I agree with you to some extent, it still will be at least 5-10 years before they are no longer needed. I have a few games and programs that I will need to install, and at school, I am always needing to bring my cd smart bay, so I need something nice and slim. I am really not worried about the cost. :)

Money should never have more importance placed on it then value, after all money is only money, it comes one day and goes the next.

When I was chatting with one of the reps online, she said it would only take 5-7 days to build. But seeing as no one else seems to have gotten that information I highly doubt it's true. :/

Yeah, the thing is, will I use it? I have Blu ray for my TV already, and I can't picture watching Blu ray movies that on the m11x, If any thing I will just install the digital copies.

But yeah, I had looked at that one also, and it would probably be the one I would go with if I did do Blu ray. :)

Try improving your credit score then applying. I have no job and etc but I have a great credit score due to paying home bills and credit card bills so I was instantly approved for 2500$.

Hmmm. Everyone's estimated shipping date (save for one fella who claims he got his order pushed through internally) is in early march... Hope I get mine before then. That date is kinda realistic since the chinese lunar new year is kinda just round the bend and china would take a notoriously long holiday for that.

That's the problem, even if you are paying on time you still have way too much on the card. Get it down to less than 50%. The credit card companies want to see that you at least use your card and have a balance, just not that much of a balance.

You don't get a good credit score by having a credit card and keeping it maxed out all the time, in fact that probably hurts your credit score. It doesn't matter that you paid minimum payments, they charge interest on the balance you haven't paid and that's how people get into debt.

You get a good credit score by buying stuff and then paying off the account every month. Then, your credit score goes up because you've proven to a company you actually have a fair amount of money. Therefore if you bought a car or something on just a credit card they would assume with a good probability that you plan to give them the money back.

The only benefits of credit cards in general are the ease of use, the ability to delay payments by a month maximum with no repercussions and to weigh the possibility of instant gratification or instant necessity against the fees associated with thus taking the equivalent of a temporary loan from the credit card company. The entire rest of the point behind credit card companies is to make a crapload of money from people who don't realize what they're getting into.

I'll also mention how this is exactly why credit card companies are bending over backwards to give you credit cards up the wazoo with paltry sub-$1000 limits but dell rejects a lot of people, it's because they have to have some semblance of guarantee that you're actually planning on paying back that laptop in full over the next year and they just made a sale they otherwise wouldnt have.

Wouldn't ya know it, you better make sure you make the payments on a DPA or else you're about to get charged more than $300 extra on a $1000 laptop or hefty late fees. Heck, I've never seen something like charging $15 just for making a payment on the day you request it (has this changed?), I pay a lot of different bills and I've never seen that, thankfully I have a good memory and remember the exact date things are due.

Anyways, sorry for the long rant but if you really want to build up a credit score to get a DPA get another credit card, use both for various expenses and pay them off in full every month. It'll be about 3 months and they'll send you an email about how now you had your limit raised 5000 more dollars or something and suggest 20 different places you can immediately blow all that newfound "money" on. :D

I should also mention if other people have cards where they can just pay the minimum every month and get no fees then I must be getting a raw deal because I always see finance charges applied any next month from one I didn't pay in full.

Eggs Scrambled is right. I have a really good credit score because I've always payed off the balances each month, even when they got pretty high. Except when I got the shaft by the military and had to put private college tuition on my credit cards. But I got it all payed off pretty quick. I have only three credit cards with credit lines of $22K on one $12k on another and $5K on another. I'm only 28  But I've always done pretty well with CCs. With school I ran them over $20K in debt but got it payed off within a year by making payments multiple times a month a great deal higher then the $300+ min. payments. With coupons and EPP and a $50 AmEx gift card my company just gave me, I will be ordering an M11X tonight

I think the UK ones are right, I think dell anticipated a huge boom in sales and put all the orders as being shipped in march. It makes sense because they might not have a system in place with realtime stock updates that can affect the estimated ship date, so they would want to make sure that if you placed the order at any point right after launch that you didnt have it delayed because of a huge sales number. Plus, there's positive word of mouth from bumping up ship dates I'm sure.

Although this is meaningless speculation because I heard lots of new dell machines have taken a pretty long time to get into your hands so dell could just have a crappy manufacturing setup.
