You have to cancel the order if you want bluetooth, I have canceled 3 orders now and finally think it is right.

I gotta say though, dell, not impressed thus far.

It appears that most are in agreement about the 4GB RAM.
How about the SSD, and the warranty? Is the SSD worth the price?
And I see a lot of the 1 year basic plan popping up. For Dell XPS Gen 2, I've milked my 5 years' warranty for what it's worth. Do you think Alienware is that much more sturdy I don't need as long warranty? (Or as good? Advanced instead of Premium?)

When I bought a $4k laptop, those means nothing. When I buy a $1k.. Those are serious investments..

Oh, and one more,
Is the mobile broadband worth it? I don't think I'll use it, but is it a worthwhile investment?

For those guys that are wondering about the Gobi Broadband I called ATT and they said that it doesnt matter whether the laptop comes with it or not. YOU HAVE TO PAY THE MONTHLY DATA PLAN that is 5gb a month. Thought i let people know so they dont think you buy the gobi and thats all. At least with att is like that.

Yes, you have to have a data plan in order to use it. But if you already have a data plan with AT&T (iPhone, for example), you should be able to use it with this laptop if you buy the Gobi.

The Dell 3% DPA discount is for new accounts and not current account holders.

 

This is true, Verizon is $60 and not sure about At&t. I do know that on my G1 with Tmobile I can tether and is costs nothing extra per month

 

If you have an iphone you can just jailbreak it then tether it by wifi basically to your laptop and get internet.

 

ceolwulf after i talked to you i called them bro and she specifically said that it didn't matter if i had the iphone plan. that u need the AIR data plan that's 5gb for $60.00. they give you a number and everything thats specifically for internet use.

I called in and tried to receive 3% off using my DPA but no go. Talked to two people, one said it's only for first purchases of DPA? I don't think that's true. Anyone who called in to receive the discount, can I get the number or extension for the additional 3% off please? Or have you all been new DPA members?

Anyway, was a bit frustrated, but go my new order placed I guess. Hope I didn't go back too far in line lol, same est. delivery date.

i find it very strange one can not change there order. if i were a speculator, and i am, i would say its because people speak to a different sales rep than which they placed the order with and the new rep wants the order so makes u cancel the old and make a new order through them?? maybe try speaking to the rep the order was placed with and tell them if they cant fix the order u'l cancel it with them and get a new sales rep.

pure speculation though.

 

im fixing to order guys silver lunar any final suggestions on the CPU please, it'll be nice to save 90 dollars but i want to know if i will see a big difference. how they compare to each other?

 

If AT&T notices you using your iphone sim card on a laptop(aka having a big bandwitch spike) they may cancel your plan.

3% is for new accounts only. It is incentive for new accounts, kind of like what Amazon does with for new credit card applications.

 

I talked to my same rep who did an order change and got me the 3% DPA but the first order was canceled and says changed on the website.

An order is a bill of material for production to Dell. Order changes, bill of materiel is reset and new order number applies, old order is purged. SOP for most material management systems.

Yeah my first order changed in like an hour or two over to "in production" but I placed it earlier this morning at like 8:30AM EST. Sucks I had to cancel it though.. haha

I'd recommend the upgrade. According to a review, the C2D can easily be overclocked by changing a BIOS setting, and doing so only increases the CPU temp by 1 degree. We don't know if the same can be said for the lower-end processor. Plus, the older one lacks virtualization, although I'm not sure if that's a feature you would use.

 

I paid with Dell DPA and my rep told me he did an internal push to try to get my order to go faster. So who knows.

Yea it's still a good deal with all the epp discounts, I dont really need the space I will probably save a few and just get 80gb intel ssd for it for 250 bucks. I have the 160gb in my desktop and it's got 98gb free lol I do have a storage drive for all my downloads, movies and music but games and everything else installed on ssd. The drive is worth it tho, Windows boots up in 10 seconds on my desktop

 

So what about all the people that already ordered? ? I assumed it came with bluetooth since there was no option to add it.

I've already got 1800 dollars being held on my bank account due to cancelling and reordering earlier to get the 50 dollar epp. I am not going to have 2700 dollars held hostage by Dell just so I can get a 19 dollar BT added. They should give this for free to everyone that already ordered.

 

Uhm Allen might be crazy because I just called and was offered to change my order and add bluetooth for 20$ more. No idea where your 51.07$ came from.

So far only the SU7300 has been tested no one can say for sure on the lower end one.
