just picked up an Intel 160 2nd gen for 329.99gbp on ebay.. cheapest price i could find on the net with a UK warranty (10gbp cheaper than novatech lol). I like its capacity (and performance).. most SSDs in that range are 120 or 128.
this thing is not going to have any excuse not to fly![]()
-
Swweeeet. But SSDs are too expensive for me. We have a small currency, so that 300 GBP is... 1800-ish for me.
Really want an SSD.
-
Look at this iPhone app.
-
Thanks for rubbing it in.
-
we should see benchmarks this week as the first batch gets delivered.
I expect to see lots of review people! -
How about we all stop worrying, and hope they combine the Sony Z and M11x into a real super portable. I'd love to see a laptop with the i7, 335m, and 8 hours of battery life (optimized battery mode) in a 14 inches or less package. Now that is what I'd be willing to pay Sony Z prices for!
-
I bought it at Microcenter. It's pretty light for aluminum.
It'll last a long time too. If the fans die; they are easily replaceable.
I'll make sure to report temps when I get my M11X. -
Would you prefer a sleek sony look, or a in yoh face alienware look?
-
I don't really care about the look either way. I just don't want it to look like it is going to fall apart.
-
ROFL. Nice answer. For now, we have to choose. Until then, we have to make do. Are you ordering either of those laptops?
-
I think I'll look for a bluetooth gamepad. Anyone know of a good one?
-
Yes, I grabbed the m11x with all the discounts. I just couldn't pass that up. I looked at the Sony Z before choosing the m11x, but the 9300m GS is just too weak. The Sony CW looks nice, but I keep seeing it has the "330m", but then if you check the sony website it says its the 310m. I really couldn't find another choice with something equal to the m11x under 14 inches, even with just the 330m.
-
Cool, I just rang Dell up and all the reps were busy. Crud. LOL.
Sorry Kouki, no idea lol. -
I just read that you can use your PS3 gamepad as a bluetooth controller with a couple of drivers/programs. Let me get a list of links for you.
http://www.passsy.de/2009/12/26/ps3-controller-on-win7-x64-without-pressing-f8/
- this is a how-to for 64 bit Windows 7
- this site makes the drivers; there are a lot of useful links
- the first link links to "dseo.exe" but that link is broken; this is the correct link
-
can anyone find the razer orochi bluetooth mouse anywhere for less than $70? thats a big pill to swallow for a notebook mouse..
-
If you have a Fry's near you; check it out. I got it for $50 there.
-
Seems to be 70$ at fry's now
http://www.frys.com/product/6125659?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG -
Oh joy. RM150 off. Can't beat you wing. But I guess its not bad for a first timer.
-
not bad for a first try.
tried other reps? since you have time for calls i would suggest 5 and get the best out of 'em.
btw no free peripherals? -
omg i juz saw HK's website; it's HK$13999 = US$1801.3717!!! And M15x is only a lil more.. zzz)
wth... it's gg for me....
(Sorry when i just logged in, this thread had increased by almost 100 pages, thus no time to see if anyone posted the Hong Kong's price; just wanted to rant...) -
Oh man I'm so sorry!
(((( That's a pretty outrageous price.
-
Got a pain in the arse one who kept stonewalling me. Another just offered me a RM50 discount. So I took the first best offer I could. Must be something about monday mornings. Oh and I got my order expedited too
.
Nop, no free peripherals. Not even a bag but heck I'm a first timer. -
Four letters. O.U.C.H. It wasn't up on the HK site on Saturday when I went international browsing, so no chance of anyone finding out beforehand really. -

not sure, havent tried it yet but one possible difference would be size, the infinity can fit a dv7t quad which is a good 17" size.
I'm not looking at the nzxt as I say this but I'd prefer the infinity to the nzxt by a truckload if the nzxt intakes on the bottom, the infinity is on the back which makes a huge difference to me. -
Do you guys think that the m11x would be a significant gaming upgrade over my current computer, the specs are listed below.
Inspiron 1520
2.2Ghz T7500 Core 2 Duo
Nvidia 8600M GT 256mb
15.4'' @ 1680x1050
2GB ram @ 667Mhz
160HD @ 7200 RPM
Thanks! I can't really decide whether or not to commit and just go ahead and buy an m11x -
I have a 8500gt, 2gb ram, and 2.8ghz pentium d in my current desktop machine so...I'm thinking the m11x is gonna be my primary gaming pc lol. Else wise, I do the majority of my gaming on my xbox 360.
-
what? a mere 50 bucks off? i bet you're still able to get like 20-30 bucks more than the RM150 if you found a nice rep.
when is the ETA? mine was only in production today and it will take at least 3-4 business days for build completion.
that translates to 1.5 times the price. AW do cost a lot in HK eh?
summary: significant gaming performance. on par or slightly lower CPU performance. -
Base, the GT 335M in the M11x will blow the doors off of the 8600gt, the SU7300 process will be slower than the T7500, but should still be a lot better in games. I am replacing an Asus G1 with the same specs as yours with this, if that helps any
-
Yeah it'll be an upgrade and gaming wise, yeah it'll be significant. Ask yourself what your needs are, do you want the portability and size? Are you willing to hook it up to a bigger screen if need be? The base price will get you 2GB ram, 335m (beats your 8600) 1.3Ghz (your C2D is better) and your 15.4" resolution is higher. I decided the M11x better suited my needs over my last laptop even though my last lappy was a gaming laptop that killed (Sager NP8662). Sorry if I said more than you cared to know, the answer to your question is in first sentence lol.
-
I have around $2100. I'm planning to buy this M11x and a plasma 50" TV. I don't game a lot... I play every now and then... Will the m11x work for school stuff ( Microsoft words, print out, power point, excel, etc..?)
Also, I mainly use the computer for listening to music, watching movies ( 720p, 1080p), and browsing the internet.
Will all of the above work on the M11x ( Maxed out ) ? Would it be good as my main computer?
Thanks. -
ya, man hmm think my Asus just heaved a sigh of relief...
-
I see, I thot it has been up for a while, you see. Cuz I think I last checked on Saturday nite? Oh well... shall continue to game on my xbox 360, PS3 & Wii and desktop then..
-
Do you really need a laptop? You can build a desktop for 800$ that would blow the socks off the m11x. Also the 999$ Asus at bestbuy will have better performance but not great portability.
If portability is extremely important for you then yes this is the best laptop for the job but if it isn't get a desktop or that asus if you want a laptop. -
Dunno yet, but I gave the fellow a very tight timeline to work with. The 3999 config he gave me Rm3838. I just did some rough math and it was about 5%. Happy with this guy so didn't call anymore, at least he didn't stone wall me. He had to consult another someone in the background every time I asked.
Strange, they checked the prices and the Macs in HK were among the cheapest... There's a place for everything I guess lol. -
To add to the yes brigade: yes.
The big question would be if you're comfortable with an 11.6" screen. I've been living off of a 13.3" so the downgrade isn't too terrible, but you might find it a little more serious.
Also the processor overclocks to 1.73GHz so you may or may not notice a difference between your older one and the M11x. -
If you need portability, get the M11X. It'll be great for media.
If 15" isnt too big, the ASUS the other poster mentioned would be a lot more powerful.
I think you should stick with a laptop though; they are really useful in college. -
yes, you can run power point and word maxed out with this lap top.
-
It will play any 1080p movie flawlessly if you use CoreAVC. It will also be great for surfing the web, documents, music, and light gaming.
Depending on how great your main computer is, it might not be able to handle some games as well but you'll definitely be able to do everything you've listed. Not sure what you mean by "maxed out," though. It won't play every game maxed but it will let you surf the web the hardest you can.
-
LOL, I don't have any of those consoles... T_T. lol.
But who knows. the price might come down, or you could always buy from Malaysia...
-
does coreAVC use the intel 4500HD too? Thinking about how to conserve battery life while playing 720p video. Don't have any 1080p rips
-
too far, bro..
-
I'm not entirely sure, Hardware Heaven only used the 335M. You might be able to get away with the integrated though.
-
Double post. Edited.
-
ahh still a good offer. probably he's new?
anyway, since you have placed the order, hope the waiting period won't kill you then. lol
yup, it switches the processing to the graphics card instead of the processor, that is why you can see that CPU usage still remained normal. 10-20%. tested on my Vostro v13.
-
My luck with Dell has held up thus far soooo... We'll see. I'm setting the guy an absurd timeline, so... Who knows? I dunno, his name's Leon i think...
-
Confirmed! Excellent! According to some guys on CNET, the 4500HD plays 1080p pretty well so CoreAVC could only help.
-
Hmmm... Cause I get like tons of Mainland China tourists buying their PC's from my store. Goodness knows why. But once again, tough luck mate.
-
those are prolly those farmers who became rich overnight by selling their lands? Noveau riche? I'm still 'Old Poor'
-
thank you. Is coreavc a plugin? I'm already downloading stuff for the M11x to have ready to install. I use VLC player for my media files, just wondering/hoping it's a plugin. I don't like having multiple media players just to play different files.
-
A lot of "masseurs" if you get the gist. No offence but some of those Mainland Chinese are some pretty hard customers to deal with.
