To refute, I shall point out what others before me have pointed out, 3dmark2006 is CPU heavy (on standard settings if I haven't read wrongly) so the GPU doesn't make that much of a difference compared to the CPU, but if you want the samsung, sure lol. But I might have read wrongly so someone kindly correct me if I am.

 

The R480 is a 14" laptop, right?

 

Let me guess R480 battery life probably about 3-4 hours?

 

totally off topic but i just realized about the bioshock 2 four pack discount on steam with free bioshock. ($35 for both)

Perfect two great games for your m11x anyone interested?

 

keep in mind tho you can overclock 1.73 so i wonder what the 3d mark will be if overclocked in ideas?
plus a solid state drive and 8 gigs of ram im sure it will be around 7000 if not more

yes 14" on r480 but it is only 2" wider and 0.51 lb heavier

I believe the R480 only has the nVIDIA GeForce 310M, not the 330m unless the spec sheet on Samsung's site is wrong. They put the 330m in the r580 and up. Please correct me if I'm wrong, because there are not many places that have this laptop yet. The processor is a i3 330m, again from the samsung website.

 

beforee 330m and 335m is just not as big as most people thought..

330 clocked at 575 stock while 335 stock should clock at 450mhz

which turned out
to be 182 vs 223 GFlops
between them
and they both use 128bit memory bus.
i will say the 335 at stock is at best 18-20% faster then a stock 330

mm if we included the cpu factor in..when both use same cpu.

then if the cpu with the 335m is much slower then the cpu use with the 330m
then the advantage of the 335m will just be gone.

 

Interesting... I have a 13.3" now and I wouldn't want to go any bigger. The M11x is perfect because it's so small; I don't think Alienware wants people buying it if they really need something like a 14" or 15".

I would probably compare the R480 to the M15x more so than the M11x because it's a little closer in size and specs. The M11x is geared toward the netbook crowd.

very true what would be ur educated guess? has there been any stats given on the 7300 being overclocked to 1.73 all ive seen what hardware heavens review and they overclocked it to 1.6 but didnt give any ingame benchmarks with it overclocked to 1.6 i was a lil disapointed

i compare they as the r480 with core i5 430m and 330m is the same price s the 11x
and they weight similar enough..

i played games on a 12" screen from my 1201n
it was just too small...
for playing games i need 13.3or 14"

 

I take back my earlier statement, it looks like samsung is making an i5 version with the 330m, but it is only listed in Canada, and it doesn't seem that it has shown up on any of the sites I visit. Very wierd... Anyway, I'm definatly interested if this thing will come to the states.

got an email this morning from Dell customer care that my unit is already in production though. but somehow the order status page showed otherwise.

here's the email:

First thing in the morning opened up my system, I have checked the Alienware order status for you and gladly to update you that it is now being processed at production floor for parts assembly; building; and testing in which will roughly takes up about 3-4 working days. Once system is tested fine, it will be bundled up and transit to forwarder for delivery arrangement. Anyway, since order is still at production, I shall keep myself busy still to look after this order status and update you again once it has been built and tested fine.

According to this review, the R480 also comes with the Core i3-330M which is the base processor in the M15x. Essentially the R480 seems like a tiny bit smaller M15x with a better GPU.

But yeah the M11x and the R480 are in the same price range from what I can tell. Samsung's site doesn't have any pricing info on their site, though. Or customization.

guys the best thing you can do is just wait for a tracking number. Every order i've ever had from dell has either been screwed up, or arrived ~7-14days earlier then the ETA.
