According to one reliable rep, the SU4100 will have the ability to overclock through the BIOS like the SU7300.

If you are replying to a post directly above yours, its not necessary to quote. Just takes up more page space.

Since we are already on another page - one last referece - EVERYONE review my post here:

unfortunately, with a thread that gains 50+ pages a day, its kinda hard to know if you actually will be directly under the post in which you are responding to

then use the:

I'm only suggesting this to help you folks maximize amount of posts on each page. Back OT now please. Thanks. -
Anyone have any idea why a Win7 with XP mode shows up on the order even if you only have Win 7 Home Premium? Is it an AW thing or a typo?
-
Its probably just a typo. Either way, no big deal. If they send you Ultimate, you can just smile.
-
@batboy, I'll definitely smile if they sent me a maxed out m17x instead of my m11x order lol
-
@batboy
we know your mod and all but dont be silly taking our quote privileges away.
the page continues by how many posts there are, not how long a post is, so it doesnt make a difference unless someone is browsing with their phone and theres a slow connection. its a hassle to scroll up and find the post a quoter is referring to in order to get the whole picture. Case in point how many people scrolled up or turned back a page to see what im talking about? -
abused, did you not read my post? I said "suggestion" and "its not necessary to quote". I dont believe I said you couldn't quote.

vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
anyone know if Mirco Center will be selling the M11x?
-
More than likely Vince. They had the M15x and the M17x so it would stand to reason they will probably show up with the M11x.
-
im just upset you deleted my (flame-ish?) post
i dont think anyones posted this but this is Hardware heaven's results from Empire total war at medium @ 1280x720 WITHOUT overclock. considering this is a very cpu intensive game i actually expected much worse
-
@batboy
I've heard of throttling issues with various Dell laptops (eg: the Studio XPS 16) and some say its due to the flextronics PSU. Does the m11x have the same PSU? -
I have no idea Nuke. We'll have to wait and see once they are in hand. The M17x has two powerbricks - both different manufacturers. My brick is made by Delta. Like I said, we'll just have to wait and see. I'm hoping with the M11x there are no issues. Dell has had enough bad light from the M17x R1 and now R2. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

@BatBoy, coo thanks.
-
Eggs Scrambled Notebook Evangelist
nuke did you mean psu or brick?
-
Its not because of that.. the SXPS 16 throttle because of its Core i7 processor and the 90W PSU is not enuf to feed that power hungry machine..
The M11x uses a ULV processor so dont worry.. It shouldnt happen..
M11x comes with 65W adapter btw..
-
@ eggs = The guys over whining about Throttlegate were pointing out the PSU as the cause. I don't own one myself so I don't know.
@eugene = hopefully
@batboy = thanks! -
Eggs Scrambled Notebook Evangelist
we may not have to worry about throttlegate happening again because isnt that just for turboboost comps?
-
Alrightey. Just wanted to make sure. Friend has an SXPS 16 and it throttles bad. He keeps whining about how it lags. He doesn't know what throttle means too so... Lol.
-
Damn it. Since I doubt my m11x is being made yet I still have time to cancel it. But my source just said he got the new SKU's for the new Macbook Pro's. He said "2.66GHz Core i7 M620 is the build notice they put out"
-
Those are dual core i7s but heck a lot better than the i3s you (was it you or someone else me not sure, too many posts) mentioned before. Problem is not the CPU since we know its going to be Arrandale but what the GPU is.
-
vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
I'm holding off on one now until people get their hands on it..in the meantime I'm laptop-less.
-
vince I know exactly how you feel mate. But I've ordered one
-
Yeah he told me it was i3's but now he just messaged me saying he got the SKU and it seems like it is i7 all across the board. Said that bestbuy will put it up at midnight and tomorrow there will be a conference call or whatever describing all the new features / specs.
-
Woots. Too late. I've gone alien. But lucky to those who held out, just a bit more waiting. Want to know what they are going to do with the aging 9400.
-
Yeah I told him I can cancel it and order the MBP but he said just stick with what I have now. He isn't a big fan of Mac's either, says they just keep one or two around in the shop. I didn't ask about video cards since I think all they got in the email was about the processors. But I would get the MBP at cost from him if I did order it since he ow's me a favor but let's just say cost isn't that cheap. He tells me on the 13" 1199$ MBP cost for him is about 1020$.
-
I hate it when someone quotes someone's post that's a few posts above or when the above post is LONNNGGG as hell and is requoted, it's a waste. There's still the scrolling part that gets old, not just 10posts per page.
Also I posted the Empire Total War here, about 8 pages back or so, but since there's so much crp in this thread it doesn't matter. But yeah, I was glad to see it perform well in medium considering it's RTS -
Eggs Scrambled Notebook Evangelist
yall is wack about these 4-5 page problems, mine goes three times as slow as all yours.
Theres a setting you can switch for 30 posts per page instead of 10
-
@eggs lol I was wondering if something like that was available... think I'll try that now.
@filip, the i7-620m is the dual core but it's the sickest dual core available for mobile. I'd prefer it over the lowest quad core i7 since it can turbo very high and has 4 threads. It benchmarks around the same too. If what you say is true.. damn! -
Yup we will see tomorrow if my source is correct.
-
what's going to happen tomorrow?
-
@Nuke737, Ceolwulf, and BatBoy...
Thanks guys. I had already looked at that thread... but I couldn't find any definite answers. Guess i'll have to wait...
-
MBP Refresh.
-
Is there a reason people should be excited about this? I haven't owned an Apple computer in a long time. Not since I spent about 4K a while back on all their best stuff and walked away really disappointed in everything.
Anyway, just wondering what the hype is about, just a faster processor? Or something else more awesome expected?
I will admit I like the Ipod Touch, and was pretty excited for the Ipad, but was pretty let down after the announcement. A lot of money for very little machine sadly, but I guess that is the story of all Apple products. -
I'm excited b/c I feel the Appe notebook line up is very good. Especially concerning people of this thread looking for thin & light and some power. If CPU stated is true, power is there, just no word on GPU.
-
I personally really like there build quality from the MBP's my friends have. I hope the Alienware is just as good build quality wise. It seems the new MBP's will have a much better CPU then the m11x but the video card will most likely suffer unless they amaze us all and announce a 330m or something.
-
But GPU is really all that matters for games, and what about weight, battery life, cost, usability? Would someone looking for a portable gaming machine really want to look at a Mac? The only way to play most games on them is to install Windows, why pay Apple prices to install windows for lesser performance?
Not trolling, just trying to see the excitement. Did previous Mac laptops have a particularly good GPU? (I know the one I bought had a normal mobile GPU, nothing special) -
Yeah, I thought all Macbooks had underwhelming GPU's.
-
One of the Alienware guys actually confirmed on this thread that both cpu can be overclocked.
-
Yea, I just went to Apple to look at the Mac Book Pro laptops (because this thread peaked my curiosity, if Alienware fans are excited I thought they might be good).
The 17 Inch $2500 top level Mac Book Pro has a 9600M GT, 32 pipelines, less than half of the M11X. Now I understand that those are old and a refresh is imminent, but still that was a dated mobile CPU a year ago for a 17 inch notebook (and I assume Apple does yearly refresh? dont know). -
MBP for gaming is terrible.
Why? One word: Heat. Currently unibody MBP's are still hitting 80-90C (not all but some).
I'm typing this on a first gen MBP and even though I love it, I hit 85C when I switch to windows. I have to crank the fans to 5k just for it to be at 65C.
But who knows, 32nm + unibody might just be the godly combination for heat dissipation. -
common, it's known that Apple stuff is for girls, if you want to feel like a man you gotta get Alienware!
-
I bought my BlackBook for $1600 back in February of 2007 and my graphics card is the Intel GMA 950 integrated ( 64MB of VRAM). Underwhelming is an understatement.
-
I was personally looking at the 13" MBP which has the 9400M. I am assuming tomorrow they will either go with the Intel standard i7 GPU or maybe a Nvidia 310.
-
I feel for you ceolwulf. That hurts.
@ fillip = I was too then the m11x came along.
-
Hey nuke, where did you get those cool little banners in your signature?
-
I have purchased the new M11X but am wondering if I am crazy for doing so. I actually have the NV5927U 500.00 Gateway deal from Best Buy with the I5 and a Blu-Ray but have decided to list it on Ebay. I just do not want a laptop with an Intel only GPU. Sure are paying a premium though for the GPU on the M11X and the battery life (plus no optical drive)...Of course the Gateway weighs more but not too bad at 5.8 pounds.
Now here comes the system I am really wondering how it compares with the M11X. It's the Sony VPCCW26FX/W. Best Buy has it for 899 plus tax (Bing CB also available). This one weighs only 5.3 pounds, has the Core I5-520M processor, Nvidia GT 330M, 14" LED display with 1600 X 900 resolution, optical drive included, etc. The M11X clearly has the advantage with the weight, battery life and 335 GPU. However there are some pluses to the Sony also. -
Yeah, the problem is they don't update very often, every two years or so. The 9600m mentioned above was decent when it was announced, discrete with 512MB ram. I feel since that release they are heading toward better GPU's in their systems. The iMacs have 4650's in them and 4850's if I remember right. Hoping for like a 5830 in the MBP's.
The Blackbook also mentioned above is true, but that was their "non-pro" consumer model and before, IMO, they cared about some GPU options. We'll see in their next update if they are headed toward better GPUs and their more recent releases have shown. -
From shadowarachh, he taught me how to put em in
I'll fwd his instructions to you, but remember its shadowarachh that taught you, not me
