Eggs Scrambled Notebook Evangelist
batboy, you have no idea how many times the weekend has delayed my online orders for anything from ups or fedex.
Also,...
-
awesome image eggs, just awesome
-
@Batboy, hahaha. Thats awesome. I wonder how many eager people just got stumped by the possibility of that happening. lol. I can picture the frantiv phone call to the rep now
-
now that's something comforting. just assume all of us will have 20 days lead time then.

i used to have a early M860tu but its gpu (the 9800m GT) died recently not beacuse of heat or any thing but just beacuse of that error with the 8xxx 9xxx series cards ..
so this time im going to get a M11x and wait for my GPU replacment options in my M860tu to drop in price.. and mabye if im lucky some new options arise!...
I have a 3 year warrenty on my M11x so i hope it runs well.. im def going to be using it more around my house as previously my m860tu just sat on a desk // was moved to friends houses to sit on desks..
As far as input goes im actualy shifting to using controlers alot more for my gaming... i play TF2 with a classic controler pro for instance.
also i play wow as a healer with a wiimote/controler config connected up to a big TV..
or i play it just jumping around and chatting /talking on vent while lazzing around the house.
i hope the m11x fits my bill...
def going to be running it a 1.73gigs thou so hope it handels it ok
im still abit worried about ditching a mouse with my m11x as i want to use it on my lap coffee table more... mabye some kind of custom baseplate i could mount to it with a little mouse surface could help...
what are other peoples ideas for input methods for the m11x? -
This thread has indeed died with the news of the shortage.
-
Nope, not me! Got next day, which includes Saturdays
Woops, maybe next business day- I guess me too
Oh well!
-
Probably not died as much as corrected. Posts were probably skewed heavy up front and now we are seeing a correction. Things should pick back up if we see more reviews posted and clarification on shortages. I can say that Dell allocates constrained supply to new product launches (not refreshes) and will not let the M11X lose momentum.
I worked for Dell's branded printer supplier for years and worked with Dell (I was supply & marketing analyst), so have a little insight on this type of situation. -
Eggs, you would think it would be FIFO, but Dell tends to prefer to run common configs and group them that way. They will config a batch based on cpu, HD, blue tooth, etc. Gets too confusing on the assembly lines to try and run a line with multiple configs. Etchings / stamps for US plates are done at the very last stage (obviously).
The people that luck out will probably be the sweet spot of configs (most common). My guess is the most common config is:
7300
500gb hd
Blue tooth
At least that is what I hope
-
Nice to hear rushy, but I'm far down the line anyway. Shrugs. I'll just hope eggsy and co get theirs early to kickstart the mania again. We need the mood back in business
EDIT: I liek snowmen. Like this snoman. -
Yeah right like you have ever seen a real snowman!
Bummer on the dalays but hopefully the lucky first orders will get there laptops soon.
Real soon! -
Actually IKAS, you're right. I've never even seen real sno but heck
Come on Dell, we need the benchmark race to begin already!
-
Man, I hope I'm not going to be too late to the benchmarking party
-
Lol dan, nope. But the party mood has gone AWOL for now... We need flamethrowing snomen... Right?
-
Haha absolutely!
-
Now we sprinkle some Abrams going gun fire crazy and a parade of black hawks paradropping our m11xs on our front lawn. That would totally pwn DHLs service.
-
oooo this really die down,
after 5 hours.. only 10 posts????
mmm bad...... bad..... -
Actually, I expect quite a few military people to get the M11x- perfect portable gaming rig that looks "mean". BTW, I am a former Marine
-
Hooah!
... -
@rushmore : thanks for the insider-info, i wish i'd known that prior to making my order. Back to distracting myself with life whilst waiting for this order to be fulfilled :]
-
will bioshock 2 be playable on medium settings????
-
I think so.
Bioshock 2 is a very cool game.
*grumbles* were reduced to speculation now!
@nuke I would trade places with you any day, we got snow last night and it gets old quick.
Is that a blackhawk I hear! -
blahh, anyone else feel this wait is killing them? Well not really, but I'm in need of a notebook and if there is a delay.. man. I'm looking into other notebooks right now, but is it just a down time until March/April for good notebook options to arrive? There's not much options for decent discrete + i5 except for Sony CW out right now.. sigh why do I have to be a gamer haha
-
It should run on High as good too, I am playing it now on 9800gts all maxed on 1650x1050 and the FPS run between 40 and 60.
So on 1360x768 or 1280x720 on high will return the same FPS, imo. -
Man cant wait till march fif
-
about the Battlefield BC2 ,
from this thread, it seems like the game is really cpu dependant game,
quad core or 4 thread cpu is recommanded.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5869677#post5869677 -
that would be really great. i loved bioshock 1 . and playing on a m11x= perfect for me because i always loved little things . like mini rubiks cube mini mp3 player and and and
-
Nothing has been based on finalized code yet, all beta, which is definitely a dog for any configuration. First and foremost, the M11x hasn't been released yet, and neither has BFBC2. So speculation is all we can do, but I wouldn't pass judgement until we get final product for both, which will be about the same time. Beginning of March

i live in europe and a friend would send me a m11x from las vegas to here.. would i have to pay only for shipping or something else??
-
lol this is weird.....
usually after posted something like that, there will be alot of people posting right away,,,, people are missing.... lol
how are you Htwingnut,
hehe -
Why not order it in europe?
You should know that the wireless devices used are slightly different compared to those use in europe (slightly different channel frequencies, i think, but the US decives should work here too - however may not me exactly authorized for europe).
Plus whenever you have an issue (for instance some defect) you cannot expect dell in europe to give you support.
You might even get it sooner when you order in europe... -
it's because we're tired of the wait hahah I feel like going to Best Buy or CompUSA just to look at computers today..
-
No idea. Have your friend call whatever company he's going to ship with and ask them. Make sure he says he's sending it as a gift.
-
Shipping, but you may also have to pay for customs as well.
-
GOD>.... you guys kidding me ??? lol
all went to computer store ??????
COME BACK!!!! -
LOLL I have been pretty loyal D: .. Just over recycling videos of m11x lol over and over and over.. OMG. I'm way to excited.. not a day has passed since CES that i stopped looking Q__Q.
Is anyone here buying it to create a domain titled SmashingMyM11X.com ?
-
It really depends how is he going to send it and to which exactly country in Europe, so you need to give us some more details.
-
Are you guys seeing the payment actually showing on your credit card yet?
I haven't seen anything come off my card, so I called today and apparently I won't see a charge until it actually ships, but I thought I had read on here people getting charged already? -
my order status now shows in production after the delivery date. better than still at work in progress. the uk orders i think have been stuck at work in progress from the begining.
-
I got mine through dell finance card. Available credit limit amount is down from $2000 to $387 but doesnt show any payment due as of yet. My system status is "in production" as well. Made a $300 payment on my card today though just to get a jump start on lowerin the balance. EDD march 5th.
-
im from uk thinking of getting same combo over here one question the kabuto can fit in between laptop lid and keyboard when closed will it fit m11x (bigger/smaller)?
-
Yep here in Ireland Work In Progress is still all i got even with a 22nd feb EDD. It's gonna be crazy i imagine when the first person on this thread gets one ? The excitement will be immense, i m sure many videos and pictures as well as benchmarks will be required from whoever the lucky person is.
-
Now that this thread has quietened down a little, as a potential owner I had a question.
How bad is the bloatware on these Alienware machines? Considering the M11x has a relatively weak CPU, would it be worth doing a clean install of windows and just re-installing the most essential tools to get the maximum performance from this mini beast?
Daily tasks would include the following: Gaming(FPS or Racers), web browsing, video encoding/decoding, etc. -
Local Bestbuy now has the Asus 50vt and this has the SU7300, but clocked at stock 1.3ghz. I tested MAME out today with some of the more demanding games. Please keep in mind that MAME is doing everything in 2D, since too many special 3D chips to emulate. MAME truly shows what CPU power a chip has.
All with sound:
1. Dead or Alive ++ plays smooth
2. Ridges Racer plays smooth
3. NFL Blitz plays smooth
4. Cruisin' USA plays smooth
5. Rival Schools plays at about 80% speed (should be full speed at 1.73ghz)
The good news here is that these games are my litmus for other emulators as well. NullDC, PSX and N64 will play smooth as butter on the M11x and so should PCSX2, since it relies HEAVILY on the GPU
Even at 1.3ghz stock, the SU7300 kicks the snot out of the Turion 2.1ghz dual core in my HP TX2010. NO CONTEST! Those same games on my TX2010 are unplayable (real bad).
Just goes to show that even with straight clock rates there IS a difference with CPU chip techs, even with non-3D applications. -
Long time lurker, first time poster
. Im sure this was beaten like a dead horse on race day. But the shipping dates are estimates only. For the most part it will ship sooner than that. I ordered mine with only the SU7300 and the 4Gb upgrades. Contacted order support 4 time to see if I could get pushed early and they all said that their parts were in stock and should ship out in 2-3 days. I'll believe it when i see it but for the most part there is a good chance we will get them early. Im figuring I will get it sometime next week. By the way im in the US. Here's to hoping.

@meegulthwarp
Bloatware is minimal. None really. Alienware does a good job of keeping that useless stuff off thier machines. I don't do a clean install with them as to me it's not needed. -
WHERE THE HECK DID EGGS, CEOL, WINGZEE, AND NUKE GO?!?! Oh and that asian guy.
-
Sweet, that's what I was hoping. Another tick in my check-list, now to find 1,000 quid...
-
Hey man what are some good rom/emulator sites for nes/snes/n64/genesis games?
