indeed, check their site for a compatibility list, but yes in general many gamecube and wii games work well on it. They even have support for multiple wii-motes at the same time...

@jonjonk - sounds like I'm gonna be busy busting some shrooms in Mario then... good stuff! That's gonna be good times with my PS3 controller at Starbucks playing some gamecube games...

Just went to fry's and bought a 250gb external HDD for transfers...and retard fry's person said that they didn't carry the orochi only carried the imperator...and as im walking down the aisle to go to checkout i find the orochi! $70 :/
The 250gb external HDD cost $50, the manager i talked to said that was the cheapest they had.

well its primary use will be for school/work but i wanted the option to game as well. As of right now i have a POS laptop that takes 83733 years to boot up. Havent really been a pc gamer for awhile now due to the fact i have 360 and PS3. Other than that though to sum it up yes this will be my primary comp.

Okay, as long as you understand it's not truly a desktop replacement in the sense that it's 15/17x brothers are.

My Black Macbook will remain my main comp and this will just hold games and videos I imagine. Really need to be able to game away from home not there enough to have a worthwhile pc.

@BrianIRL - Hey I noticed in your sig that you put 8GB DDR3 RAM on your M11X... isn't that a little overkill? I think that with the bottleneck of the CPU and stuff you won't notice a performance increase from 4GB to the 8GB. Is there a reason you hooked it up with that much RAM? Not trying to flame you at all... just wondered if it would be worthwhile to do this as I haven't ordered mine yet.

so the review of the sony Z is up at engadget. I find it comical how some were a bit dissapointed at at the pricing of the M11x where a beefed up version could run over $1k after its advertised $799 base.

For the Z, starting price is $1.8k and a beefed version can run you a whooping $4.5k. hahahahahaha.

The Z actually got very good reviews from Engadget and answered some of the concerns when we had the Z vs M11x debate: very good battery life and stays cool to the touch. But, paying more than twice as much? and maybe up to $4.5k if you got the deep pockets? The M11x is truly in a league of its own.

    Give me a M11x please!

oh yah i know. I do all my hardcore gaming on 360/PS3 but will be goin back to school and needed a netbook anyway for that reason, when i heard about the m11x though i knew i could benefit from it for the occasional game here and there especially when i work graveyard shifts at work. Prolly just be playin l4d and l4d2 primarily while my chick will use it when she has to work overnight for WoW.

I will be using this as my main computer...for those stating about having to look at a small screen while typing a document...GUESS WHAT GUYS THEY HAVE THIS FEATURE CALLED ENLARGE...you know you can zoom in on the document to make the words larger if it hurts you that much. Sry for the flame but had to...just had to :p

However, for when im at home i do have a 23 inch lcd to hook it up to :D

To be honest i'm hoping to keep this for a while, i'm quite a multi-tasker when i get going but i dont think its even possible to use all 8 with this CPU, but mainly i think that at some stage new processors will come out using the same 10w and will be higher powered so i can upgrade. I think that a new range may appear some stage in Q3 2010 but we will see. Thats the hope anyways.

if I had the money I'd take the Z.. that thing is nice!!! I wish they would offer a platter drive, bet that'd drive down the price to maybe 1399 or so, and then I'd really consider it =)

and I too will be using the M11x as my main computer. I never used anything smaller than a 13.3 though so hope I don't regret this.. but damn I've been looking at Best Buy's Sony CW w/ i5 and 330m.. debatable.

I understand your perspective. If you just ordered, you might want to consider spending the money on an SSD instead. You will get more bang for your buck with an SSD than 8gb ram.

You would need to do a lot of heavy multitasking to make 8gb worthwhile and even with that, you wouldn't want to do heavy multitasking an an 11 inch screen.

I thought the CPU is soldered into the motherboard. Were you hoping to replace the CPU on the m11x?

I was so disappointed not finding an i5/i7 on m11x.. But I'm getting tired hauling a 4-5kg laptop around (my old XPS 17". m17x is around 6-7 right?)

you only have so long until you can't cancel your M11x order anymore. Should call a rep and check that out if you are considering other choices.

I open up to 40 tabs in firefox, and it takes up to 600MB of RAM after a day or two not restarting it. Is that normal for ppl here? That's multitasking with just ONE program.. Oh and I use a 2GB RAM. That's maxed. Mine's old :D

I bought it last week have a EDD of the 22nd. I thought about the SSD and heres my reasoning why i didnt buy, i just think its too early, hopefully at the end of the year i will be able to purchase one at a lower price or maybe even next year but at the moment the space just about wins over for the other drive. Maybe i'm stupid but that was the reasoning behind it.

Just got my Razer Bluetooth Orochi mouse today! That should add to the excitement of waiting for my M11x!

And in case anyone else is wanting/going to buy this mouse they should pick up some Sanyo Eneloop batteries! They are the best! I have been using them for about the last year and a half.

One pet peeve on the sony though is their keyboard, I find their keys are way to spaced apart as opposed to traditional ones.

Yeah I know. I considered calling to just ask if it's cancelable but not go through with it. I could also resell it on ebay or just resell my pre-order on ebay lol, I know I could probably make $300-400 off my paid price too haha. My impatience is really killing me, and this Inspiron 1501 I'm working with hurts.. a lot.

I am having speed problems playing some gamecube games with dolphin even on my core i7 desktop system overclocked to 3,3 ghz.
    So don't expect too much.

I'd go for some older emulated game consoles. Playing gamecube or wii emulated is just still too hard. Too many bugs on the majority of games and/or too low framerates to play it comfortably.
I did get the wii controller to work nicely with dolphin though, as it just needs bluetooth and the sensor bar enabled (either have the wii on or get one that has batteries instead of a cable).

I think most have a 3/3 ship date and those with 1 day air have 3/4 delivery which includes myself. Which is probably the earliest for people in the US. No idea about other country's.

It's interesting. I just configured an 11x without the discounts on dell's page and to get most of what the Z comes with @ the 1899 pricetag and it comes out to 1764.00. That is adding External DVD because there is no internal, adding SSD however the Z comes with 2 SSD in raid config, 4gb Ram, Gobi Wan etc...and then you are only getting the su7300 1.6ghz (1.73ghz OC) not the i5 540 2.53ghz (3.06 turbo) nor the 13" screen which is amazing according to the reviews. So essentially you are only paying about 100 more for the Z unless of course you got in on the epp coupons. I wonder if Sony does similiar epp type discounts for the Z? I am seriously about to pull the trigger after reading the engadget review LOL

IDK if this has been posted, but earlier there were rumors of a part shortage; my rep just emailed me saying there was a shortage of power cords, so I guess that's where our problems lie, for now at least. BTW, my est. delivery date is 3/5 for reference

@brian = logan already took my pics. I took them from shadowarachh. You can have em but I recommend uploading them on your own picasa acc and using tinyurl to link em. And next time PM me since its OT.

@crikey = EDDs and stuff go into the thread in my sig mate. Thanks. And the shortage we heard of was of batteries not cords.

Guys, the sony Z retails at... $2009. Two times the price. And its a dual core i5. :)

not to pick, but it's actuall more then twice the price because you have to take in account tax.
