LOLOLOLOL -
was considering this, but with news his order was cancelled (indicative of things to come for all the "slick deals" based on dell's past? possibly, idk...) i think i'll just hold off for now.
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=27441647&postcount=382 -
damn owned. They posted to this thread on slick deals about filip calling in. Mistake on his part leaving the order # but pretty selfish calling attention to it, especially bringing in the sales manager or whatever..
-
That man should have gotten his computer at that price. i am dissapoint at these jealous people raining down on his luck...
-
No one called tattling on this guy, filipp called because he wanted the same price. Please don't try and paint it like someone called out of jealousy and wanted to ruin this guy's deal.
Edit: although it does suck that he lost his deal. I feel for the guy; hopefully they let him stack the $100 and $50 coupons for the trouble. -
he knew he wasnt gonna get that deal. but im sure everyone feels better about it getting canceled. thats just human nature i guess.
-
Yea, the guy says his order got canceled, I hope they dont cancel all coupon orders now. I've seen Dell do this before with video card purchases using coupons but have not ordered many laptops from them to know if same applies.
-
Or maybe he said he got his order canceled to get us all off his back?
-
Are you serious? It wasn't out of jealousy? Filipp already placed his order a long time ago. On top of that, he tried to match the same configuration but didn't get the same price so they had to look into why that was. He went out of his way to try to try to match this price. I mean read his post.
Who knows if he really would've gotten the deal or not, but really to get into someone else's order business like that. but ehh whatever. -
yeah very true he couldve lied. he sure didnt seem upset about it
-
Why would anyone feel better about it getting canceled? It is a bit disturbing to me... Certainly everyone will not feel better about it either if Dell now realizes about the stacking coupons mistake and starts the ball rolling on canceling everyones orders that used stackable coupons.
-
You read to much into posts. The conversation went like this: I called saying my friend placed an order and I have his order # and I want the same configuration / price. Gave the order # and he went to go check it. Only after he came back and said all that about the order I said I placed an order already and was wondering if he could just give me credit or something.
-
I would be pissed if he discovered another coupon that stacked and used it, or asked for a specific sales rep that was giving stuff away for free, but since he just got lucky or worked some verbal magic I don't mind.
-
that a serious question? i really dont care. but those who didnt get any coupons really hate to see others get it for so cheap.
-
filip called in to try and save some money. He didn't call in and say, "You guys are getting screwed! Look at this order!" And of course he's going to go out of his way to get a better price; for instance, I placed and canceled four orders because I wanted to save another $100. I would place and cancel another four if it meant I would get this guy's price.
-
I would like to think that's not the case, seem very selfish and childish to me...
Read the guy's latest post though seems like maybe his deal didn't get canceled afterall and he's just calling off the wolves so that's good. -
@Blue
abusedbunny has got it right. Just human nature.
ANYWHO enough with that. Soooo...my M11X is in production now
oh wait wrong thread
-
Maybe that's you, not everyone else.
I am sure you would have something else to say if you were that guy.
-
I can assure you it's not normal
-
Erm... OK 11 inch with common netbook components will weigh 3lbs. Show me any machine with these specs that weighs less than 4.5 lbs. Since when does light weight = performance. Even your beloved R480 is over 5lbs with lesser spec'ed GPU.
-
If I was that guy, a) I would have never posted what a great deal I got and b) if I did post and I was busted, I wouldn't blame it on some guy who just wanted the same deal as me. I doubt it was filipp's inquiry that got him busted since Dell processes your order through a separate sales department before it's confirmed just to make sure something like this doesn't happen.
-
yea and BIGGer CPU and bigger screen and dvd rom
in 2-3 months
i may be getting the ul30JT
as it is 13.3in and 3.7lb and have really long battery life..
that will be my travel laptop..
i just can't make myself commit to a 11.6" with 4.5lb with kind of underpower cpu
if i want to carry 4.5lb i will carry 0.5lb more and have a 14"
some people said they can just bring a LCD with them to lan party if need a bigger screen..
that really defeat the purpose of being portable..
how portable a 11.6" + a LCD monitor..???
great.. put it into your backpack.. -
whatever... that is just my opinion,,,,
if m11x have a better cpu.
even like what ul30JT going to have,
I may still buy it
...so may be august .... i may still get the m11x ... with core i7
but for now....
no way -
^^ I think you've over-welcomed your stay.
-
sorry .. my english is not that good...
what you mean ? -
Well at least that guy did have an EDD of 2/12...then everyone would really start raging.
-
Man no reasoning with people.
One more attempt at steering away from this "deal" subject.
So i'm gonna name mine Cookie. Because my name in CSS is *C00kie_M0nster*, so this is my cookie! Rawr!
What are y'all gonna call your laptops? Besides Nuke...yes we know the name only seen it about 15 times
-
Yeah the guy who said his order # is canceled was most likely lying. He now edited out his # lol.
-
^ why do you care?
-
I just put my name on it for security reasons. Passwords are nice but a metal engraving on the bottom is hard to get rid of
-
@fury I will try to post something tomorrow regarding the 310 256gb.
-
Haha furyagain is trolling.
-
are the plates on the bottom removable/replaceable? looks like theres 4 holes that keep it in but they arent really screws or anything.
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
Good, you guys can 2v1 me.
BTW, I joined the Steam group, my ID is <s|t>s|t *R*</s|t>
-
They look like rivets.
-
Mine is engraved with darkamikaze
.. most likely going to have the login as a female name with a "fazaz" .. I'm thinking Anya :]
And someone stop Y! they're advertising the m11x!! in this article
http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/...-reasons-you-still-need-a-gaming-pc/1389019/7
which might mean more shortages! AHH!! -
Unless I missed it entirely, I don't think the Japanese models get the etched nameplate option. Though we get other things as 'standard' and I'd have left it blank anyway in case I wanted to resell (later, of course). Which hopefully means faster production time....hopefully.
-
I read someone took off the plate to be used on another AW system. So I'm not worried about the resale value with the engraving stuff. I put my name on it =)
-
Ah true, if it's easily removable (which it must be if there are models without it) then it's not much of a difference.
-
Woah! I can't believe you guys spent $799.00!?!? I paid $798.97 for mine with the double dipper balogna 'n cheese discount!
Seriously, that's what I am reading the last several pages of these forums. I really couldn't care less. And yes, I work hard for my money too. But honestly, if I was one tenth as frugal as some of you are coming off as, I would NEVER purchase a laptop as expensive as this one.
You wanna save some money? Here's a tip: WAIT to purchase technology after the NEW wears off. You'll save tons. -
Well said sir. (golf clap)
-
but one of the reasons we buy new is the excitement! the thrill of the freshness! the lateness! the official thread that comes on NBR! I can post stuff like. zomg is it on my doorstep yet
??
-
He means that your constant badgering of how "great" the R480 is, is getting old in the M11X forum.
We get it - and I think many/all of us would agree - the R480 *is* a nice laptop - for a 14" laptop.
However, in comparison with the M11X - it's not even an apple to oranges comparison. It's not the same form factor - and not the same market segment/target audience that these respective laptops are even designed for.
I bought the M11X for the exact reasons I wouldn't buy the R480:
- 11" form factor. I recently bought an 11z for my daughter. I've been smitten with the size of this laptop ever since then. I've been considering purchasing one for myself ever since I bought it. When the M11X came out - I was immediately interested. I travel a good bit and I already have a 14" lappy for work - the M11X is going to be my "fun" personal travel companion. Even at 14" - which is one of the smallest laptops I've owned to-date - it's still a little too large to pull out comfortably on the plane. The M11X should be perfect however.
- Power/Performance/Battery life - I purchased the "base" model 11z for my daughter (Celeron 743 / 2GB RAM / 160HD 5400RPM / 4500MHD video) and while the 11z is "decent" in these categories (i.e. it's a step up from a netbook but in a netbook form factor) but not "great" - I knew personally that I'd need to step up in specs. The M11X steps in to fill the gap in this segment. The 11z offers up to the SU4100 - the "low-end" processor for the M11X. I'm sure we'll see plenty of benchmarks once these things start arriving for the minions here..
- however, knowing the performance of the 743 Celeron - I know it'll be at least
better. Many have been questioning why not put a Core processor in the M11X. I believe the answer's clear from the specs - M11X processor's have 10W TDP - Core's currently have 18-35. In the end, that'll make a
significant impact to battery life overall for what has been already noted, via the "benchmarks" posted here, a minimal gain in overall gaming performance (M11X - 6100, yours 6200-6300)
- Looks / Appeal - Quite honestly - I'm personally "tired" of the "typical" laptop. Don't get me wrong - the R480 is a nice looking laptop. But it also looks like all the other laptops out in the market today. The M11X, by contrast, may or may not appeal to a variety of people - however it's unique and different. It certainly appeals to me and I'm looking forward to having something unique instead of a laptop trying to be "just like everyone else's laptop".
So, let me be the first to say - congrats on your new R480. I think it's a great laptop, looks nice, and hope it serves you well. However, I don't think that comparing the R480 to the M11X is neither relevant to this discussion, or even a fair comparison for that matter. I'd expect games to realistically run about the same on both units, given the specs listed. Of course - the M11X may, or may not, lose a frame here or there compared to the R480, or run a CPU benchmark slower.
Do I care? No - as I'm happy with the fact I've finally found a laptop that meets my wants, needs, and expectations.
-jsgiv -
Except the poster was trying to save $90, not $.03. That's roughly 12% of the total price. But nice try.
-
The only problem with that statement is that if it's not new, it's already old.
All that postulating about Moore's law et al.
Anything with the letters I and T in it usually means yesterday's technology at tomorrow's prices, until something slightly better and even more expensive comes out. It never ends, and will never seemingly change.
It's how they package it and how many of the boxes can be ticked to fit your needs, that counts. -
If you guys are looking for a cheap bag for this puppy, newegg has one one sale right now:
