it wont. overclocked su7300 is only 1.6GHz. for same generation processor, clock speed does apply.

Don't forget the SU7300 supports vt-x (hardware virtualization) while the 4100 does not.

If you want to run XP mode in Windows 7, or run any virtual machines in general, then the SU7300 is a must.

Another $100 and about 20% quicker battery drain if it had it. Battery life / portability is a key attribute to the M11x. If it had a beefier CPU, the form factor would also be larger.

Though I was doubting the CPU choice- battery life, the ability to overclock safely and not compromise the heat level and power consumption much, tipped me into buying it.

If you are going to advertise it as a gaming laptop - it wouldn't have hurt to have at least a core 2 duo 2 ghz.. Meh. Not all games are weighted heavily by GPU performance compared to CPU >.<.

How will this laptop handle - Starcraft 2 / Diablo 3 (the only games, I would in the future, be realistically playing)?

Seeing as my current laptops GPU is dead - I may just get this and put a hold on my desktop rig. I am just worried that they may add better CPU/GPU options in the coming months on this system...

The CPU options will come before October but not to much sooner according to an alienware rep that posted here earlier. GPU won't be upgraded at all for a long long time is my guess. This CPU can be easily overclocked to 1.6 though which is a 20% increase and with all the coupons right now you can get a 1000$ configuration down to 750$.

i think its safe to say a big yes, on what settings however is another question. certainly for SC2 its huge in asia and not everybody over there can afford to sink even $500 into a computer so i imagine recommended spec will accommodate very low end machines. D3 i think is based on the same engine so will play about the same.

I agree as far as a "laptop", but this is meant to be a bridge from a netbook to a gaming laptop. Faster CPU would be a different product and not a "near" netbook gaming device.

If the M11x would be your main computer, it would probably not be the best choice. I have a loaded Q8200 desk top, so wanted something very portable and with good battery for trips (including planes). The M11x fits this perfectly.

If I did not have the Q8200 system, I would have kept my CW27FX order from Best Buy. i5-530, 330m, 500gb with Blu-ray and 14" display. THAT would be a great main device if no desk-top. Fairly portable and more power, but about one third the battery life (half with the more expensive extended battery).

I bought my CW27FX for $950 (not counting tax). Returning for more portable M11x.

No coupons in UK though :/ - hence if I end up waiting a couple of months for better prices - it may be better off just waiting for the better CPU options? Meh ^^. I did just get my Nexus one last week - so that should keep me entertained I guess.

I went for the 160 originally but just found another 100$ off 1000 code so I switched to the 250. You can replace the HD yourself later on so if this isn't your only computer then 160 is fine.

Is it even clear that there will be such a refresh?
It it will only make sense either if the battery live is not dimished significantly, or it stays an option for people who for some odd reason don't care about battery.

Anyway, hard to tell. Find out what the current price for the cpu offert now is, and compare it to the i5/i7 one. Also you have to take into account it needs a whole new motherboard which also be more expensive since its more recent... My guess is between $150 and $400 more..
But only if that refresh comes in rather soon. If it takes another half a year, you may get it for the same price.

Holy Cow! $254 off + free shipping with tax = $836.98 for SU7300, 4GB RAM, 320GB 7200RPM, Bluetooth. I'm sold. It's $300 more than my Toshiba, but it's 5x as powerful. Anyone want to buy a Toshiba T115D-S1125 barely used? LOL. Shipping March 5. Dang, that's a long time.

Big thanks to Steve I was on edge again with my second order and the $100 off gave me reason to reorder for third time. lol This time got the lunar silver (hope it's more gray), su7300 c2d, 4gb ram, Bluetooth, and 256gb ssd all for ~$1068 before tax. Total after tax with free shipping was $1142.

I think I got a terrific deal. Hell I could sell the ssd and have my M11x for ~$700. So thanks Steve and major thanks to my dad's work epp. I'll have to call him :)

LOL I just canceled and ordered again because of all these coupons added the 250gb HD to get the price over 1000 for another $100 off! The price is actually pretty good now with all the discounts.

does anyone if I could take zip drive and take all of my microsoft office stuff off my old computer and install in the m11x? I rather not pay for it again. I don't think I have the disk either.
