Dude Wikipedia is NEVER wrong. :D I know that the plant in Limerick is closed, but it looks like Dell has some other plants in the EU. Here is a snippet from Dell.com concerning their European facilities.

    Europe, Middle East, Africa
    Headquarters: Bracknell, England
    Business Centers*:
    · Germany – Halle
    · France – Montpellier
    · Ireland – Limerick
    · Morocco – Casablanca
    · Slovakia – Bratislava
    Manufacturing and Distribution:
    · Ireland – Athlone (Alienware)
    · Poland – Lodz (opened 2007)

"Called in" as in automated number? "Preparing to ship" as in boxing or almost to your door? Lol

    EDIT: Where's my phone...

Not sure that is correct what they told you. Having a separate and delayed process for nameplates would be a logistical pain in the butt and not worth it. I am near 100% that the plates are one of the last things done and it is in the finishing section of production. Not even sure they are really engraved, as much as perhaps stamped ;)

i think they are engraved. its not like ink on a piece of metal. its actually etched in there.

What number is that? I'm not sure which one to call on the website.

Mine has been in production since 2/5 IIRC. It'd be perfect if it ships thursday! (got overnight shipping and don't have classes next week)

I'm just glad that someone else is getting them first so I don't have to worry about taking a thousand pics and benchmarks. :p

As of 17:46 EST, mine is still in the "build" stage with an EDD of March 4th, 2010 (ship date of March 3rd; can't beat overnight shipping). Specs are SU7300, 4GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Bluetooth, and Gobi WWAN set up for AT&T. I'm going to be super pissed if we get snow on the 3rd, though. The delivery agencies in my area are notorious for delaying delivery when they see something that resembles a snowflake fall from the sky.

Congrats on all of the early shipments!

Edit: thought I would add that I ordered on February 3rd. Specifically at about 16:00 or 17:00 EST.

Still can't find out where the European orders are being produced, Homebrew showed an image which says his shipped from Limerick, Ireland only a couple hours from where i live, BUT that Dell factory has closed down. I know Alienware had offices in Athlone in Ireland but do they manufacture there too? Uhh my head hurts.

My order status page says that the manufacturing build is complete.

Just for reference I'm based in Australia and ordered on the 8th of Feb.

Wow! Congrats, I ordered on Feb 3rd early in the morning ~8AM EST, still in build stage USA here. Shucks. What's your config? Curious if there will be a pattern on that since I know some people ordered on Feb 1st and 2nd too. Wonder if they'll be shipping soon or not =). My config is in sig.

*edit* NM, I saw your config in the owner's lounge. Maybe the no nameplate helped speed things up?? heh

Called the automated number, yeah still in the build stage.. bummer.

I think I will have to stop checking this thread because it is just pissing me off that people that ordered way after me are getting theirs way before mine. Because of engraving my names? Pffff thats ridiculous.

I ordered 2 weeks earlier and will get my laptop 1 week later than some people, because of a name plate? 3 weeks for a name plate? If I could do it over I would tell Dell where they can put the nameplate :)

As far as the nameplate goes, my order just shows "standard namelate".....what does that mean? Was there supposed to be a step in the order process that I customized it? Also, does anyone that order from Canada have a EDD before March 1st? Just curious.

I think only the US customers get to customise the name plate.

I'm in Australia and my order says - "Alienware Generic Nameplate"

Not for everyone. I ordered the morning of 2/2 like one of the first orders to be placed on the official page. I got the internal expedite request, I got overnight shipping, still estimated at 3/3.

Meanwhile some random guy who ordered later and got the free 7 days shipping got his shipped.

I am happy for him but......RAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGEEEEE!!

Might as well not even read this thread as all your gonna get is aggrevation ;)

I've been here before so it doesn't surprise or bother me anymore.

If you guys think Dell is bad you should try Lenovo. Their ship dates are fluid to say the least. While your estimated ship date may say 14 days, for example, you might not get it for a couple of months. If you decide to cancel your order Lenovo may still ship it even weeks after you cancel the order. Makes for some interesting surprises when you check your bank account and you're overdrawn or missing a couple grand. If you decide to return the unit you should have never received you'll get dinged with a restocking fee even if the box has never been opened. Dell is bad but there are worse out there.

Ok so in the other thread I said since ordering on the 8th of Feb (with big Sam) my status had not changed at all from 'order received'. So I jump on the old crapbox (the computer that ISN'T an Alienware m11x) casually and maybe slightly obsessively click rapidly (like a kid/me pushing the button at a pedestrian crossing) on the Order Status screen on the Dell site.

I then proceeded to type in some random junk and...

Current Status: Arrived in Local Port
    Estimate Delivery Date: 18-Feb-2010
    [IMG]

OMG?! Needless to say the pants I was wearing at the time turned white (in which case I went to the pants store and purchased a new pair) and onlookers scowled in disgust at me. I don't know what happened, but it was a bloody miracle! I'll have my shiny new m11x before the end of the week!

Yeah I'm calling it a night and will check my order in the morning. I get the feeling there will be an update tomorrow... when everyone with a 2/2 order date had a status change to "In Production", mine updated the next day. Maybe we'll be as lucky as these Redcoats and Aussies. ;)
