Grrahh, my EDD just dropped back to 3rd March! Also, the 'Production Begun Date' changed from 10th Feb to today's date. Surely production only begins once? >.< Dell's evil lies of a status update page.

Zlog, can you, or anyone tell me how to get a deal like this? I have a M17x, but would love to get this thing for the portability. I want the exact same configuration listed here! I am willing to pay right around this price, but I cant go 1000+. Please let me know. Thanks everyone!

he used a personal coupon he had available on top of coupon stacking that is no longer allowed and expired. I believe that's the case. Most deals are gone now and either you order at current prices or wait for more coupons to appear on top of hoping coupon stacking can occur again. They disabled this feature after so many orders were placed.

The best I think anyone can do is the Dell EPP ~7% or 10% + opening a DPA for 3% and I'm not sure if that EPP coupon of $50 is still available, but you won't get anywhere near Zlog's price. But then the EPP config starts out higher than the regular Dell home purchases. People have suggested calling in and trying to get the EPP discount. Good luck.

My EDD is still the same, but I think it may get here faster, depends on the military.

On a side note. ***Official M11x Benchmark Thread*** Has been posted. I will be recording scores, and consolidating top five or top ten lists. We will also have gaming benchmark lists on both integrated GPU and 335M. I encourage all to join. The first post is a preliminary list, although the final versions will be differant I'm sure. All lists will be updated when I get time as often as possible. Scores will be kept on post two for easy access. They will also be linked to your thumbnails or your image sharing link. I encourage all to part take in the fun.

Please let me know what you would like to see in the thread, but please consolidate your requests to one PM so I don't have to sort through many PMs.

Thread will be locked until units arrive. Please remain on topic in the thread.

    Thanks.

ryedogg, where are you from? Ordered on 2/3 but you're just now in production? Just wondering since mine has been in production since the day it was ordered (2/3), just later that afternoon, although I don't believe it really was in production, at least that's what it changed to the same day though.

homebrew, what was your original EDD?

As far as I know, it's totally a matter of what country you're located in (in relation to when parts arrive at an assembly facility), the date you placed your order, and what configuration you ordered.

Some countries are getting parts sooner than others based on how quickly parts suppliers in various Asian countries can get shipments to specific regional assembly plants.

Here in the US, Dell has assembly plants in Austin, Texas, Lebanon, Tennessee, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and in Miami, Florida. I'm not sure if Alienware systems are assembled at any plant in the US other than the Miami facility, but those are all of the Dell facilities that I am aware of.

Based on what I've been told, once the assembly plant/facility gets the parts, the orders are processed based on the date the order was placed and the configuration (similar configs are built at the same time to expedite assembly on the line).

This is why it's possible for someone in Europe to order a laptop several days after someone in the US and still get their system before the person in the US does (and vice versa).

There may be an additional way that orders can be moved up in line, but that is my limited understanding of Dell's order/assembly process.

^ I dunno, some UK ppl had Feb EDD's already. I heard it was b/c US has custom nameplates while other countries do not get that option. So custom laser engravings maybe take up some time..

According to the Rep I spoke with when I ordered mine it was due to the nameplates needing to be engraved for U.S. she said other countries don't get the nameplates so they might get them sooner. That's what I was told anyway...

The UK Alienware machines are built in Ireland. The USA machines are built in China. Currently everyone in China is off on their government mandated two week vacay so not much is happening at the manufacturing plants. That would explain why our machines have a ship date two weeks out from the UK machines.

This is correct for the regular Dell lines (ie inspiron, etc).

No, they haven't been built there for years. All manufacturing is done overseas. Laptops in China, not sure where the desktops are built.

And what system shipped from Miami? Nothing made recently would ship from there.

Alienware computers were built in FL, but Dell owns them now and the production facilities have moved overseas. My M15x was made in China.

Not according to Wikipedia...take it for what it's worth.

"Dell's Alienware subsidiary also manufactures PCs in an Athlone, Ireland plant. Construction of EMF4 in Łódź, Poland has started: Dell started production there in autumn 2007."

Well, I have yet to see an AW manufactured there. Everyone from the EU that has an M15x or M17x stated the machine says "Made in China". I know all the US machines are made there currently.

I will correct my statement once I hear it.
