Contact Sales Support and ask for your tracking info/status. Its that simple. Dont call the automated line, call the sales line and ask a rep.
Thanks.

She now has a good reason to wait for it to come in. Nice touch.
-
I just cast "Angry Dad" at Customer Care. wheeee
-
Fellow geeks, a lot of us will see our status change as soon as they get power cords in stock to make the orders complete. Surely getting cables is not going to take beyond a few days...... Surely not.

She's British and nobody is telling her what to do

Unfortunately tomorrow for me is a very busy day or I'd be part of the festivities of unboxing/running benches.
Hopefully someone will be able to sign it for me tomorrow as well. But i'll definitely put up pics/benches and what not when I get the chance -
@rushmore = LOL! That would hurt.

Hope everyone sees this soon as well! (Again, US, no nameplate, used EPP etc)
-
-
@rush = Lol. I'm 19 and I know nothing about wives, so even more lol.
@chewie = Gawdarnit! Lucky lucky! -
mine hasn't changed at all.. still In Production/Build stage.. still EDD 3/8
.. is it cause of my nameplate?!
-
-
Order Date: 2/4/2010
Order Status: In Production(Build Stage)
Estimated Delivery Date: 3/8/2010
i got the nameplate as well. This is just retarded. -
Hmm . . I just went to my account page to check on a work machine that I ordered and my order for the M11x now has "Delivery Preparation " next to it - I have never seen that before - in the past when I have ordered from Dell - on the website it went from "in Production" to "Shipped" - still it gives me some hope that I may see it this side of March.
-
@bluehaze = from what I hear, expedite just means they can rush your delivery but I'm no insider so I'm not so sure.
-
My rep said the expedite request is basically their solution to the squeaky wheel. The customer who takes the time to call in and complain and obsess and bug them constantly they WILL bump that person in line to get their system out ASAP to satisfy them. She said approved expedited orders will ship first, they literally go down on the line and will take finished machines destined for someone else with the same specs and send them to the expedited orders.
I am not sure what she is talking about is the same as what some people have been getting however, as she said it is pretty major and has to be approved by the higher ups. -
@yoda = sounds unfair ay... But then if they got a really efficient manufacturing line, there won't be a need for expediting rite?
This is how I feel today. http://cache-04.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/4/2010/02/500x_frog.jpg -
-
@Nuke Sounds very unfair, but she said it is common practice, if someone needs a laptop in a week that normally has a 3 week lead time they can expedite, pretty much steal someone elses, and get it to him on time.
-
True that blue. Now will someone who knows something please step in and let us know?
@yoda = Wha... It would be nice, but heck it feels bad knowing you getting yours early is at the expense of someone else. -
Perhaps these "squeaky wheels" just think they are getting greased so that the Dell reps can get them off the phone? LOL -
Blue has a point but yoda's rep seems to know what she's doing... Maybe they're both right?

Just got home from work and called in to check the status of my order. It has FINALLY moved to the boxing stage.
So the US orders are underway..
Ordered 2-2-1010 EDD 3-3-2010
Custom nameplate

I had called dell this morning and asked about my order status. Apparently, the rep took this as me needing my laptop asap.
I got a call a few hours ago from a rep who told me he was assigned to my case. I said "I didn't open a case, is something wrong with my order?" (I assumed they were having either a billing issue or one with my education discount). He told me that since I had asked the status of my order earlier, they put in a request to have my order expedited! He promised to email me and keep me up to date with any progress on my order.
I suppose when your customer service is so inconsistent, you're bound to do something that pleases the customer eventually! I had such a terrible time getting my order placed. . . maybe that's part of why they're doing this.
Anyway, I'll see how it goes. The last two reps who told me they would get in touch with me and help out with stuff never did, so I'm not holding my breath. Kind of strange for them to request that my order be expedited without me even mentioning it, but hey, I'm not complaining about it. -
If my order actually reaches the boxing stage, I would be confident that all orders will start moving. -
I'm in a dilemma :| I'm moving around March.. and my EDD is March 8.. what will happen if it doesn't come by the time I move
-
Just called the 800 number one more time before bed. . . BOXING STAGE!
Either that rep pulled some strings, or it's just coincidence. Either way, I'm very excited now.
If it ships tomorrow it'll be perfect - I got next-day delivery, so I'd have it friday. That'd give me all weekend to play with it.
Funny thing is, my EDD is still 3/4 lol. I'm assuming (hoping) this will change when it ships. -
darkamikaze = Same here. I need it before I leave for newzealand. Crud...
-
That, and with so many people shipping right around now, your order may not be that far off anyway. -
-
Just checked, mine is finally to the boxing stage. US order placed on 2/3/10, Lunar Shadow Silver, SU7300, 4GB, 320MB HD.
-
Boxing here, US order, custom nameplate, ordered 2/2/10.
Worth noting it entered boxing within hours of my big stink with my rep. Coincidence or did her expedite request work? We may never know. -
Me telling myself, "Well at least I won't have to benchmark or take pics!" ISN'T HELPING ANYMORE.
I WANT THIS NOW. -
Ceol, I know how you feel mate. It hurts... Meanwhile I will stare plainly at my wall while coming up with new ways to torture my dell rep.

Still in build stage ordered 2/3 EDD 3/4. SU7300,4gb,250gb, BT. Either my 250gb is holding me up or the BT it seems.
-
How many of you have your order number memorized? -- I have checked to many times today just hoping it switches to "preparing to ship"
ordered 2/4 EDD 3/5 SU7300, 8gb, 500gb, BT, name plate currently: Boxing stage -
I'm actually fine with getting mine a week or two after some people.
That way if there are any "catastrophic" problems discovered on this new machine I'll have time to cancel my order. -
Boxing stage here. Reordered 2/3/2010.
Specs: Black, SU7300, 4GB DDR3, 320GB HDD and custom nameplate. -
-
everyone seems to be lucky
where's my luck !! arghg
-
Boxing stage here! Ordered 2/3, EDD of 3/8. Custom nameplate, SU7300, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD. Hoping that EDD definitely gets bumped up.
-
-
How'd you guys find out? Is your order page getting updated or are you getting updated via automated phone service or dell rep?
-
Ordered on 2/4 with EDD 3/4/10 and still in the "Build Stage" when I just called the automated phone service. Spec is SU7300, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, and Custom Nameplate.
-
why are people in the US who ordered after me are getting "shipped" while my order is still "in production??"
-
If I don't get an update, expect to hear about some guy from Maryland sneaking into China breaking into the Alienware factory. -
im gonna go adopt a Chinese kid and while im at it get my real baby!!!!lol
