I'd rather be in boxing then not even have the laptop made Need it for my bands demo CD, the sooner it comes, the sooner we can start recording. Hopefully the overclocked SU7300 will be up to the task. Soon as I get it I'm hitting it hard with SetFSB or any other software that will work hehe..

 

I've been in production for a good 2 weeks now and a day now.. and Build stage on the phone.

 

Still waiting my friend....when I phoned today they just told me that I am in production. That's it. No stage of build just in production.
They did assure me that it would be here before my EDD (3/12), and that as far as s/he(couldnt tell lol) knew there were no delays.

Meh, I am away all weekend and busy for the next week and a half ( engagement ) so I wouldn't have time to do anything with it if I wanted to.

 

Mine's been in boxing for two days now, do you guys think it's realistic for me to expect it to ship sometime next week?

I'm with you there Meecus, 2 days in Boxing... I would say next week is very llikely especially if you have next business day shipping. 5-7 day standard shipping will most likely land you early the following week... heres hoping we get em next week

Hella happy this morning, last night, mine was in Preproduction and today, its in the Build stage. What's the average time on Build stage?

There are several sub-stages of Build you must go through:

• Begin Assembly
• Watch Faster Lines Ship Laptops First
• Frustration
• Misinformation From Customer Service
• More Frustration
• Complete Assembly

Time per sub-stage is not known.

 

Not enough frustration in those stages.

Order 2/3 6am PST. EDD 3/4.

The 3 reps I spoke to this morning assured me there were no delays or back orders on parts. Well See.

 

If it makes you feel better, my EDD is still 3/4. The phone service *says* I'm in boxing, but who knows? Probably not going to ship until next week regardless

Being that neither of us are going to be getting it before the weekend, does the extra couple of days yours is taking really matter?

Now those people getting it today and tomorrow - THEY'RE the ones to jealous of! Jerks.

EDD 3/4 seems to be an old lady line. (I'm on it too)

 

I guess we just got unlucky and were placed on the bad production line.. therefore not giving us an early schedule.. but being on time

This is the only time I'm disappointed its on time not early

 

You guys should take heart though, she said all lines were moving, and my order has since moved from build to boxing, and with luck shipping soon. My rep seemed to think they are shipping directly from the production site, so boxing should be pretty quick.

Yeah no kidding. Even if it doesn't come early, i would just be happy to see some sort of update and not be in the build stage anymore. Ordered 3/4 ESD 3/4 EDD 3/5 (overnight).

@Yoda: I'm not sure I would leave a note at your door for a laptop to be dropped off. What you may want to do is find out where the UPS/FEDEX hub is and ask them to hold it for you. Then you can just pick it up from them whatever time of the day you want. I do this cause my local hub is 5mins from my house and the truck doesn't get here until the afternoon usually.

 

Original Order date of Feb 3. Had some billing/mailing address issues, so that order with a delivery date of March 8 was cancelled replaced by an order date of Feb 4th, and a delivery date of March 11..

checked with Dell.ca (im in Canada), and to my shigrin my status was Shipped..

So, i checked online with Purolater and it says...

I Can not wait for it... just wish i knew what day exactly it will arrive.. (i would take the day off work to be at home for delivery)...

and for those wondering i upgraded to the 500 gig HD, 4 gigs of ram, and the cpu... everything else stock.

I mean no offense, but I think the "different production lines" explanation is over simplified. Downtime for any given line would usually be a matter of hours. If it exceeded hours, work would need to be shunted off to other production lines, keeping priority order. No company I'm aware of (unless Dell is the first!) would allow work-in-progress to stagnate on one line while other lines went ahead of schedule. The reason is selfish... WIP costs money but can't yet be billed. Better to hold ahead of schedule orders pre-WIP and get the WIP off the fouled-up line and out the door and into invoicing.

 

jesus christ, i want mine now, i know i just got in build stage, u guys were right, this is hell. i wonder if the SU4100 models get built faster than the SU7300 models due to higher demand for the C2D. i wish, but its a theory ill go by to make me feel better

 

I'm gonna find this delivery truck and see if I can throw some things in the way and hope your notebook falls off for me.

I ordered 2/2 and still in the build stage on the order status page and by automated phone with an EDD of 3/3. BUT, when I talked to customer care rep, she told me I'm in the final stage of production and it should be shipping in a day or two. You should call and speak to a live rep to get more detail on your order. Your M11x should be coming sometime next week cause I'm thinking you are in the same boat as me.

 

My wife would probably help you with that...

I just hacked google maps to show me all locations of FedEx trucks carrying m11x.. i'm currently targeting one truck with a hexaband satellite ready to fire the laser once it's close enough to me so I can just drive to the truck's exploded site and steal me one of those babies :shock: I HAVE THIS ALL PLANNED OUT!

 

@ a33a33in, hey guy thanks for the vote of confidence, but I've called and spoke to a couple people, today and yesterday and they don't know jack about my order except what is being read off a paper that I can read from the online order status. Sucks really. Don't think I can get myself to call again just to hear same crap.

btw you said you're on the "build" stage on the order status page? I thought the order status only says in production or shipped. Do you mean build stage from the 1800 number 4,2,1,1? My online order status only says In production =T

yea, my mistake, in production in the order status page.
What I did to get transfered to customer care was:

1 800 ALIENWA

Go through the automated to get your order status but stay on the line. It will then asked you if you want to talk to a rep about your order. I was then put on hold for 5 minutes, got to a transfer station, after giving her my info, she transfer me to customer care, waited 10 minutes on hold, and it was there where they looked into more detail and actually found out spefically where I was in the production and she said I was in the final stage of the production.

 

I'm still not in shipping. Good thing i'm so busy and can't notice the time going by (and i built myself a sweet new desktop to play with )

I just spoke to the EPP rep.

Mine was moved to "Delivery Processing" late yesterday and according to the online system it is still "in production". The phone system says it shipped on Saturday (20th).

According to the rep there are a ton of machines just sitting waiting for the carrier to collect them - those with Next Day should get them tomorrow - the only caveat is if the carrier (Fedex) picks up after 6pm CST then we won't get them till Monday - otherwise a fair number of us should get them tomorrow.

a33a33in lol I just called and they were like we see that you called this morning and also yesterday, I assure you it's in production blah blah, there's nothing noted here as backorder and we have a rep that will be calling you tomorrow regarding your order. I don't think any new info will be provided unless of course it actually goes into boxing stage itself. Oh well, that's me being hella impatient.

 

Just tried that 3,2,1,1 thing and it says mines in boxing stage ordered on 2/4 7300,4gb,BT,250gb,custom nameplate, Lunar Shadow. Don't know if calling that rep last night helped or not as I haven't gotten an email from them yet but I guess it will be shipping out soon now.

 

For the past 2 weeks the reps have been saying there is nothing on backorder. We all know this is not the case. Unless your are one of the special cases the system is in the "build" time warp. There should be changes hopefully in the next couple of days. But then again i could be wrong. I for one have been stuck in limbo for 2 weeks. Lets hope my build warp brothers.

I got this status online via order status. It looks somewhat so contradicted lol
No tracking number and carrier but delivery is estimated in an upcoming day.

 

Im tempted to call.. but what's that going to get me :/ there's really nothing wrong with my order considering the EDD is still 3/8..-sigh-

 

I was in the boxing stage for approximately 2 days and my M11X has now shipped. I ordered on 2/4 with an original EDD of 3/5 and I live in Northern California. I also didn't get a custom nameplate.

Edit: Just in case anyone was wondering, I never requested to have my order expedited. I placed my order online and have never spoken to a rep.

 

I think Cal people are getting it if you don't have a custom nameplate.. I still like i got one though.. just wish it came!! argh

 

Just called, got no real new info from the rep.

Lame.
