Ok well this is what mine shows now after the call .

 

Order mine 2/4...sat in build stage for a LONG time. Just saw this morning they updated the EDD to 2/23!! Heck yeah!

 

What number did they call you from some weird 01xxxx number?

Woohoo, my order just moved from "In Production - Building" to "In Production - Boxing". I checked last night before I went to bed and it was still in the building stage .

 

Mine just arrived, unboxing now :}

If you could try to over clock your m11x and see if it runs fine please tell us over in the owners thread part 3. Also, please tells us what windows is showing your clock speed at. Hopefully it registers as 1.73. Keep us updated

For all people in "build" limbo. Most of you are probably still held up due to a power cord shortage. The M11x apparently does not have a standard cord and the factory building some of the orders is waiting for them to be delivered. All orders from that factory are impacted. Current backlog is 5,000 to 10,000 orders.

I just called in and they said that my order is in the boxing stage!!
the only problem is that its going to be in the "boxing stage" for about 13 days!!
WTH!!!

 

its just nice to have a little bit of extras on the side for the price you pay

 

14 days here. I hope to see a big shipping date update soon.

Folks, the boxing stage appears to be the same hold-up as the power cord. Power cords, publications, etc are typically bundled in at the boxing stage- unless Dell has changed this process from when I worked as their OEM printer supplier.

This would explain the extended boxing status. Orders in boxing were first stopped and then build units after that. They usually do not pile up orders in boxing stage. Becomes a clusterfluke doing that.

 

OK!! i just got off the phone with the customer service number, and the 1800- ALIENWA, and i check my eamil!!
customer number said will most likely ship over the weekend...

It seems pretty lazy/inept to put a system through a "testing" phase without the power cord that will be shipped with the system.

 

I'm pretty sure they will not attach the exact power cord to your M11x when testing that they send in the package, just some other powercord they use for testing. The testing of the powercord will likely be done seperately. Could be wrong though, but thats my impression of it..

@ Joel, I'm with you.. same deal. If it's sitting in an open box waiting on a cord.. SHIP IT. It doesnt look like a special cord to me, if they are holding it for some stupid alienware stickered dell cord... ugh..

I just called the number, and it says my order was shipped 2/21 (I guess this machine operates in the future). I have 7 day shipping, and with a updated EDD of 2/23 I'd assume they meant today or something lol....

Automated Order status phone says mine shipped on December 3rd 1999 ....

All cords are prepackaged from sub-supplier and not opened for an order. I guarantee it. They simply drop them in the box. They should normally do a SQL sample test when received in to warehouse, but do not test on production line.

 

Called in both my friends and my order. Friends has a older order 2/2 and his is still in the production stage, then called in mine that was a day older 2/3 and its in the boxing stage!

My original EDD was 3/4 and it changed to 3/3 now. This is for Virginia.

Good evening ! werid i just skipped 5 pages becuase i couldnt be assed to read them and the first page i read iv got a message

no my customer/order numbers still do not match, yes i got an email today with an invoice. i phoned up to find out what was what because they still havnt taken the money out of my account and the person on the other end of the phone said dell has already taken the money (JACKPOT free laptop !! ... i wish haha) and the reason your tracking number does now work is becuase the currier has not picked it up yet.

They taken your little notes with the queens head on yet ?

 

I am a supply and demand forecaster by background, so always review things by habit. Must admit that it really sticks out that the first unboxing is from a person who got a messed up system. We do NOT want to use this data point as a position to begin extrapolation

If we get a few more of these issues (or even one) given our small group size here, that could spell bad news for the first production runs- at least from the factory Home's shipped from.

BTW, VERY bad for AW and initial PR for this unit. First big Youtube vid- substandard build.

AW should be contacting Home's and make it right

 

@ rushmore lol I know, two QC issues in the first system..

 

@rush, good points and this is really a consumer win, given that it is bad PR for dell/AW. Maybe they'll get their crap together a bit better. I kinda sorta want a m15x or m17x but I won't buy one because as near as I can tell, none of the high spec ones actually work and they will not fix them. so if this has issues too, they don't have any portable products that function, heh, not a good rep.

matt, our m11x left at the same time !! let the race start !! mine has to go to the channel islands though .. so you may win the race as i think mine will go to the uk then onto the channel islands.

 

Channel Islands? Isn't that where the Wickerman is based? Stay away from large wooden structures with bonfires near them! Original director's cut from the 70's rocks!

still stuck buddy... this is getting old.. real old. I don't see why 2/4's are now shipping. Shouldn't they grab our boxes and fill them with the PSU or whatever the hell it needs and get going? I don't believe my SSD is the issue since someone else with 256GB SSD got shipped already.

 

lol, at least there was no mention of scones and Manchester United... that's all I get here.

Re-entered Production: 15th Feb - Currently in assembly phase.
EDD: 3rd March.

 

My rep just sent me my FedEx tracking number, so all I need is a few days, it is probably going to arrive on Monday, Tuesday latest.
Final destination - Atlanta, GA

TrentBg thats great, Im in Atlanta Ga also, ordered 2/3 and its boxing. Lucky you.. My specs where, 7300, 500 gig HD, bluetooth, 3 year warranty and custom name plate. I am not buying a lottery ticket this weekend with my luck.

BTW TRent we got something in common, I have a Asus G50Vt-A2 but I will be selling it to my brother-in-law once my Alienware comes in. I will build a desktop for home gaming.

 

Same specs here, the only difference is the 250gb HDD, all the rest is the same including the nameplate.
P.S. I might pushed them a little bit on my order (unintentional) the case is that my company is actually part of the Dell's EPP so all the info came right out to the rep when I called and he was explaining that, he will try to put and extra effort...who knows could be just a trick to show that they care.

Woot! I just got a call from my Dell rep. He said that it's in transit to the US now, and I should have it on Tuesday! (Er, I think that's what he said, he had a rather thick accent.)
