*OFFICIAL* M11x Order Status Discussion Thread

Yeah, I plan on enjoying mine for about a year unless the first rev this year is significantly better, but I doubt it.

One thing on my order status is confusing is that it says shipped 2/19 but on FedEx it still hasn't been shown as picked up. It says invoiced 2/19 at 12:19 am (as in middle of the night) so one would have expected it to be picked up sometime Friday during the day.

They also had next business day on there, but I guess it couldn't get changed so its coming standard ground shipping Who knows when it'll show up.

Build stage is within the production stage. pre-production, build, testing, boxing, shipped.

I just got off the phone with a rep too with the same result. I ordered on 2/2 as well. This is a bit disappointing.

 

No, I'm not saying that I won't still enjoy it many months from now. I'm saying that I pre-ordered a brand new model expecting to be among the first to see it. When I'm not, it takes a bit of the shine off of it for me. Wouldn't it for anyone? Also, it sure would have been nice to have it with me before leaving town, but Dell refused to do anything toward making that happen.

 

I don't know what to say anymore. Refreshing this thread just helps build my rage and worry that I won't even get it by the EDD of 3/4.

Mine's the same way. I keep checking Fedex's site for updated info and there is none. I know its coming ground, but I find it hard to believe they can meet their 2/23 date if its coming to southern California via ground from lord knows where.

I think I'm most likely going to ebay mine and see what Dell does down the road in terms of revisions.

I've seen game benchmarks of the m11x versus an i5+330m, and I'm sorry guys, but the processor makes a big difference. The power increase of the 335m over the 330m is, essentially lost in the difference of power between the processors.

Yes, for the form factor, it's still excellent performance, but I don't need a latop with an 11.6 inch footprint, so I'll take the 13'' screen and get the same gaming performance and better overall performance.

The m11x is perfect for those that need/want the 11.6'' footprint, but if you don't, I feel there are better options while maintaining portability and battery life.

My order status jumped to shipped at Friday 19th.
UPS displays since Friday morning "Billing Information Received".
No change until now. Is that normal?
(UPS because I live in Germany)

 

it makes sence that the UK laptops are being made at difference factory than the US laptops. first it seems people in the UK are getting theres before US people (ordered 4th, being delivered 2moz... yes i live in the uk) and second to backup this there was no reason uk orders couldnt get the personlized name plate if it was being made at the same factory as the US laptops.

Yep, that's why the M11x is in a class of its own. It's the smallest, most powerful laptop for bang-for-its-buck. If you don't need a portable powerful laptop, there are certainly better options with a bigger form factor.

In time, the market will provide competition towards the M11x but for now, you can't beat what it offers.

 

what laptop are you going to get? Vaio Z?

 

It all depends on your wants and or needs.

I feel, unfortunately, you have to compare the m11x to computers with different screen sizes because there is no direct competition to the m11x, unless you're considering something like a 1201n with vastly inferior processor and ion, or the mini 311, which is even worse.

If you need a netbook footprint, the m11x is your machine it seems.

Also, it's been said a lot already, but in true AW fashion, the build quality is definitely top notch.

 

and btw, I'm not bsing to justify my purchase. The M11x got best in show for CES in January for a reason.

 

I'm in the same boat as a lot of you guys. Says shipped on the Dell site but the Fedex tracking number link takes me to a page that says nothing beyond "Feb 18, 2010 12:50 AM Shipment information sent to FedEx".

I don't think I am going to worry about this very much. I was told that it wouldn't be delivered until March 12th after I ordered on Feb 3rd. If it comes even before the end of Feb, I will be satisfied.

 

does any one have the part number off your order for the bluetooth module?

 

This is ridiculous. I'm starting to think that if I put an order in now I'll get it before my initial order placed on 2/4. I just want to see some sort of update to know they haven't forgotten about my order.

 

Oh, so they are missing the EDD they promised you? if so, that bites.

 

I am not sure if you have seen the specification that are on the order that you have sent me . The order that you have placed is totally different when it comes to color and personalization . What he had ordered could have been in stock at the time of purchase and that could be the reason that he received it earlier than you. Like I stated earlier it totally depends on the availability of the parts that the product shipping depends on.

There is nothing on our part that we would keep your system from being shipped out . Dell believes in shipping the systems out as soon as they are built and quality tested to ensure satisfaction of customer .Your being frustrated at looking other systems shipping out is not acceptable. In case you would like to continue your order do let me know .

This is the email I got after using someone's order # -_-;

 

Either the Z or the CW.

Being I paid $1,500+ for the m11x (SSD option), it's only a few hundred more for the Z after I ebay the m11x.

I do like it a lot, but I'm definitely not going to be happy long term with the SU7300. Looking at the specs when I ordered, I was banking on the 335m blowing the 330 out of the water, which without a better processor it's not really going to do, thus not making it worth it to me.

The CW is a great machine too, for roughly the same price as the m11x, but it's a little too big and goofy for what I'm looking for.

All in all, the m11x leaves me very divided. It's a great machine, very well built and certainly serves its purpose, but as per my initial reaction to its unveiling, the processor options leave me unsatisfied because I won't just be gaming on this thing.

Anyway, giving it up isn't easy either. Coming from one of its few critics (myself), that should say a lot to all of you happily enjoying it.

in my opinion the Z is definitely a great machine I am waiting for my m11x for uni work while at home i may get a imac in 1 or 2 years after updated

Had the same problem with Dell.
Status jumped there from "In Progress" to "Shipped".
Actually it was never build.

 

To be fair to Dell, no they haven't missed the original EDD of 3/5. I was OK with it at first, but a couple of weeks ago I learned that I had to be out of town. I called Dell several times trying to expedite but they refused. Now that I can see that orders do not ship in the order they were received, and Dell somehow managed to get much more recent orders out before mine, I am left wondering why.

 

Can someone please confirm off you order status page that the bluetooth module is part #430-3374.

I forgot to order it with my M11x and just had to order it separately from the parts dept.

Wish I remembered to order it with the system, separately it is $20 more plus shipping.

 

for those that are still in "build purgatory", as myself, this is the latest email i received from dell:

"Dear XXXXX:

The battery and the Memory module is back ordered . The lead time is 9 days. Your order is expected to be delivered on or before 03/04/2010. Back orders on systems also differ with the configuration of the computers. That may be the reason why some people who ordered before you, received their systems.

It shipped from China on the 18th and my original Edd was 24th so one day early, I'm no way complaining!

I think if you open it up and play with it for a couple days you might change your mind. Chewie found the GPU was very easy to overclock stably but a pretty good margin. Also, i feel it won't be long before the CPU gets overclocked (hopefully). But I do see your point about the Z, i'm guessing you're a little irked by sony choosing a 330 instead of the 335, then it would be a no brainer.

 

God, I'm not enjoying this. Just left a scathing review of my experiences with Dell on the M11x section on Dell.ca. Let's see if it makes it through their censorship.

 

No it's not a mistake. From the point where the status updated from "in production" to "shipped" you'll have to wait for at least another week until it gets shipped. And according to UPS this should take another 2-3 working days. Rarely it's quicker...

 

IDK if it is too late for other people, but this morning I got in touch with fedex, my laptop was at the facility about 20 minutes away.

Fedex put a trace on the package and held it for me/called me when they found it, after breaking down the next days shipment.

Well they called me and told me I could come pick up my package and I did

Got it about 24 hours earlier than I would have had I waited.

 

I wonder if Dell would let me go to the factory and pick mine up :cry:

 

For those who are suffering like I was I thought i would share what just happened to me. On 2/17 i went into production phase, build phase on 2/20, boxing phase on 2/21 and it shipped today 2/22. Things might be start to really flow out of the dell empire.

 

What number did you call? Your local branch?

 

a question since my m11x will be here tomorrow. I'm planning on play world of warcraft for the first time. I know that i can by a download version, but i can the the box set for a steal currently 19 bucks. My question is do you need the dvd after the first install? I don't mind plugging in a usb dvd for an install but not for everyday game play. Thanks ahead of time for taking the time to reply.

 

You don't need the DVD if you install from their website, since that downloads the full client and all the patches. However, you will need the product key from the DVD, which tends to be cheaper if you buy it in store vs. on the Blizzard site.

 

kbfk, you do NOT need a DVD to play it since the game requires an online account and that is basically your authentication. You don't even need a DVD to install either as there is a client d/l but it will be much faster haha. Be prepared to download patches after your initial install anyway since it will be behind.

But yeah have fun, you'll have to create an account and all that. You can probably go ahead and do that now too if you want. Just so you can save some time while it installs and downloads patches.

 

To be honest I'm going to stop getting my hopes up with posts like this.. I know you guys are optimistic because yours has been shipped.. but I've seen so many of these lately saying that "it will ship soon! it will ship soon for you guys now!" It only makes the let down harder when it doesn't. I know you guys mean well but it just bums me out now .

Us 2/2 .. 2/3 orders have been hanging on a thread lagging from the early receivers and we're passed beyond excited and more a little upset, maybe a little envious and a little annoyed at this bad first come first serve basis.

It's funny because the product is not late at all but hearing so many of these early receivers with later orders just .. I don't know something about it drives me up a wall.

 

Maybe the lower storage HDDs are having an issue? I ordered mine 2/2 in the afternoon and it's out now..

Literally, makes no sense that everyone else that ordered around that time frame isn't in the shipping window yet. Unless yours was on one of those lines that was temporarily shut down or something (Rumor that was floating around a few days ago)

Oh well, Heavy Rain is released tomo for PS3, that will keep me occupied for a week or so.

 

That's an interesting point, I opted to keep the stock 160gb drive and my 2/2 order still has an EDD of 3/4

Yeah, and after seeing that guy with the 2/14 order change status, it's really pissing me off. Every part that could possibly be back-ordered has been shipping with one unit or another, so why the hell am I sitting here with a 2/3 order while people with an order date of a week after me are getting theirs shipped?

It's like Dell threw all of the orders in a hat before production and just pulled them out one by one to see who would go next. My appeal-o-meter is slowly decreasing with each order that gets pushed out before the 2/2s, 2/3s, and 2/4s.

did you get anything productive out of your dell rep? cause I sure as hell didn't. He gave me a bunch of hooha how Dell is trying to ship things in order.. and how the order # i gave him isn't valid because the color is different from mine -_-; apparently me being frustrated is also "unacceptable" -_-;

 

@dark No, I couldn't even get a hold of mine. I'm pretty sure he died or something. I'm going to call tomorrow and get a random rep and see if they can "expedite" it.

edit: I'm kind of curious to see if I cancel my order and place another one, would it get to me before my 3/4 EDD? Might have to try it out...

 

My guess is you have a pretty high chance.
I didn't want to say anything to my rep.. but I was hoping he'd suggest the expedite.. but he didn't.

For the price of the M11x with all the stacked coupons, I could have waited a full month just fine. Alas, mine is arriving in 2 days. So, if you see a balloon on my mail box that day it means "THERE'S A PARTY OVER HERE!"
