*OFFICIAL* M11x Order Status Discussion Thread

I finally got one who would "expedite" it for me today. I tried to get her extension and info but she said she couldn't give it to me since there was another rep assigned to my case. She informed that she would email that rep the info from our conversation and that the original rep would call me tomorrow with an update.

We'll see.....

 

when you call how do you know what phase it's in? the automated message just says that it's in production >_> my EDD is 3/11 sigh.. still nothing.

 

Call (800) 283-2210. If there's no music in the beginning, press options 4,2,1,1 then your order number. If there's music, press options 3,2,1,1 then your order number. This will give you the stage it's in.

 

I have a nutty conspiracy theory at this point. Maybe the 2/2, 2/3 orders are suffering from a quality problem that hit some of the earliest systems on the line. They moved just as quickly as the latter systems until they got held up waiting for a fix. I have ZERO facts and this is just a suspicion on my part. It makes more sense than many other explanations though.

Slow production lines? They'd re-allocate. Component delayed? They'd still give priority over newer builds to to units stuck in WIP for a while. But a problem? That they would need to troubleshoot and fix. Scrapping and restarting would be quick, but also expensive, and never confirm that the problem was isolated and solved.

Update for Canadians:

My order went into 'Shipped - In transit in US' on Friday, no EDD shown. Today at about 4:40 it showed up as being in the Toronto Sorting Centre, still no EDD anywhere though....so I called up and apparently it's next business day shipping, so it should be coming anytime between 9 and 5 tomorrow!!! Wooo!!!!

FYI, I ordered on 02/03. First 'official' day you could.

I think it just luck of the draw for which production line you got put in. I ordered morning of 2/2 and mine just arrived today. However, I called in last thursday to get expedited since I was stuck in build, and they did it and the next day boxing, shipping saturday, here monday.

Complaining really works!

 

Nah, I think it was just a fluke ha... I ordered 2/1, then re ordered 2/2, and received mine today as well, and had never called or complained to any rep... think it was just our time ha!

 

I've got a theory as well, Im wondering how many of us that ordered on 2/2 and 2/3 took advantage of the stackable coupons? Wasn't 2/3 the last day that the extra 100 dollar coupon was allowed to be used? I think its dells way of telling us we know what you did so we are going punish you by having you wait a while. Or maybe its just the production line thing who knows....

 

I ordered 2/3 with all 3 stackable coupons and my M11x came out to $830 shipped here to Texas. I got the SU7300, 250 gb hd, 4 gb ram, bluetooth module, and WoW preinstalled as my only add-ons. It is arriving here 2/24.

Definately has nothing to do with the stacking coupons.

Edit: BTW I ordered with the 5-7 day ground shipping option (what can I say, I'm a cheapo) and FedEx didn't pick up my M11x from Dell till today. So I have a 2 day ship by the looks of it.

 

that's bullox and bad customer care. The coupons never read as unstackable. It shouldn't be the customer's fault when it was an error on their end. People find deals where things are mispriced and are still able to get it at that price without getting hassle from the company.

That is not the case for the delay. I did not use stackable coupons, ordered right before those were shared. I did get a discount through customer care so I didn't cancel/reorder with the coupons.

 

Ok good to know I was getting freaked out a bit cause I used those coupons as well. I'm one of the unfortunates though still stuck in the build hell....I plan on living vicariously through you lot until I get mine so please give me as many juicy details about this little guy as you can

I'm Canadian and have been on the same tracking status Since 2/17 at 1:30. It FINALLY changed and the laptop is now in my city! (Albertan here). I should have it tomorrow.

It depends on your specific area/time of year/weather/moon phase/shoe size of driver/your favorite color/how many carrots are growing in Mr. McGregor's garden. My backpack that I ordered for my M11x came at 5:11pm but there was another order before that came at 11:15am today.

Don't worry..mine said that on February 16th. Still no update on fedex tracking as of today, but I called and the lady said FedEx will be picking up the package from them today since they didn't do so over the weekend. The rep told me I should arrive within the next few days.

haha maybe that is the reason. I didn't call once and had one of the earlier ship dates. Just checked my tracking number and it shows I will be receiving tomorrow.

 

Drove to fedex wouldn't give it to me *sigh* said the package can't be released until tomorrow but marked it as hold so I can pick it up at 8:30 am

 

I just checked with the rep of dell. The main reason of the delay of 2/2 or 2/3 M11x laptops are the Gobi WWAN addon

That should explain why mine hasn't shipped as well, has anyone got one with the Gobi WWAN Shipped yet?

 

I have looked into it and they are still waiting a few more parts; the ones that are leaving before yours are not the exact same configurations. The core part of the computer is ready it's the customizable parts that are the hold up. I will again reach out and see if there is anything we can do.

Just got off the phone with customer service ( for Canada ) and they moved my EDD up 8 days to 3/4 as I am in the final stage of production before shipping. I guess in Canada they don't as many steps that change ( example: Boxng stage is still considered "In Production"). She said that I should get a call in the next couple days from purolator as well which is awsome as I know the guy that delivers stuff in my town.
Anyway, I wasn't expecting that. Keep in mind, online it still shows an EDD of March 12th.

 

I have a feeling people who have their computers don't have customized nameplates, GOBI, BT, etc.

 

I got Bluetooth, but no GOBI or Custom Nameplate

Lol, what mort said. Gobi is the holdup it seems. Oh well, I need it ^__^ I have the ATT sim already with the data plan and no minutes waiting for a home.

 

I am kinda regretting not getting the Gobi AT&T. I didnt think about it till recently since I am a T-Mobile user but my dad has a IPhone 3g who does not use the data plan he is paying for at all. I'm sure he would have not cared if I used his data plan since he isn't.

RAQ iPhone doesn't work. The SIM card I guess is phone specific. I didn't follow the news regarding GOBI and SIM info much, but I think someone else can tell you the same.

 

My ETA is 3/4 as of now but i believe the laptop will come 1 week earlier than the ETA date.

 

I've actually taken my SIM card out of my iPhone, and plugged it into a USB 3G modem and it's worked before... but shh, they're not supposed to know that

Correct.. The HH review said it didn't work with the iPhone sim....

Litereally took the bus to the FedEx depot, picked it up, ran down 3 bus stops later and hopped on the same bus with m11x box in hand. Been playing around with it a bit in a Wegmans (supermarket) hotspot, and so far it is AWESOME, exactly what I've been looking for. However I haven't gotten a chance to play around with the OCing and the 335m, so there's still room for disappointment.
But..... for now im just gunna enjoy this. The M17X was my first laptop and I just LOVE having an AW that can actually sit on my lap in public. This rocks!

Hope you all like yours too when it gets there.

btw.... I didnt have Gobi, but I did have s custom nameplate, which they totally screwed up and it was deff confirmed to be the right one when I ordered it..... oh well the last 3 letters of my last name, do they matter much? lol

Omai, that's curious. I got the GOBI built in, honestly as a just-in-case. My iPhone is jailbroken and I'm tethered right now... "but shh, they're not supposed to know that."
