*OFFICIAL* M11x Order Status Discussion Thread

I spoke to a supervisor today, and still got nowhere. She claims there is a parts shortage, which part she didn't know.

I ordered on 2/2 and she thinks i might not get it until april.

 

I ordered Oakley gloves and they used UPS to deliver them. The delivery date was the same day that a huge snowstorm was supposed to hit. Well, it said "Out for Delivery" at 7:14am and UPS normally comes between 11am and 4pm. It started snowing at 4pm and started sticking at 6pm. At 8:30pm, it changed to "EMERGENCY CONDITIONS BEYOND UPS CONTROL". It stayed that way for 4 days. Apparently if a UPS driver sees anything resembling a snowflake fall within 5 miles of the truck, they freak out.

Point of this long-ish story: all carriers suck. As long as they get the package within driving distance of my house, I opt to pick it up. Most of the drivers are nice but it seems like I always get the worst one when I'm really looking forward to a package.

Edit: @teflonsheep I've gotten in to the habit of disregarding everything a rep has told me about my order. I wouldn't start thinking your order is pushed back until the EDD comes, as they've been telling us all sorts of contradicting things.

For example: pooled together, they've told us that every component of the M11x is in a parts shortage (chassis, processor, every HDD, Gobi, Bluetooth, and even the operating system). Either they don't keep track of what they should be telling us or that's the worst factory in the history of any industrialized nation.

 

Don't try and figure out the timing/scheduling/duration of each phase. It won't work and all you'll do is get a headache.

I ordered my M11x (7300/4GB/250GB/BT) on 2/3 with an EDD of 3/5. I was stuck in build hell for 7 months (well, not really, it just felt like it), and I finally went into boxing the day before yesterday (2/22). Apparently some orders don't take as long to go through boxing as others do, because about an hour ago I just got an automated call from FedEx telling me they were going to deliver a parcel tomorrow.

So less than 2 days in boxing for my order.

(no chance it could be another parcel, because the weight matches other reports and it's the only thing I'm having shipped to my office.)

So all in all, they're far exceeding their EDD estimates, although the actual queuing mechanics are what is giving everyone indigestion...

 

Just phoned the local courier company and apparently my order is due for delivery today! Yay!

I'm based in Australia and ordered on the 8th of February, initial EDD 5th of March, updated EDD 24th of Feb (yesterday for me).

Any other Australians received their order yet?

 

i have never had any problem with UPS, well, except once, i live in the country and the UPS regular guy came driving up and I had this really stupid big dog, he ran out of nowhere it seemed, and then he launched himself under the back tire, the UPS truck ran over his head, now, I am a firefighter and I have seen alot of gross stuff, but this even freaked me out, the UPS guy was crying , and I think i was just shocked, I did not yell at him, i felt sorry for him, plus, the dog was dumb as a rock, and yes i felt sorry for the dog. it took me a hour to clean up the mess, then i had to talk to my wife about it..ugghhhhh

 

Holy [expletive deleted], that's the worst story I've heard all month. I would probably have passed out.

 

yea, i have a grown man sitting on the steps of a big green ups truck with his hands on his head crying, a have a dog with a crushed head and his tail is flinching, and I am thinking the whole time, wow!!! thats my wifes favorite dog, and this guys was delivering a really expensive set of rims for my new mustang, I knew i was in trouble all the way around. The conversation ended with me telling my wife " hey, lets go to cancun, and relax for a week, my treat" It was a expensive week in many ways.

 

Anyone got the user manual that they can post.

Just wanna get familiar before recieving this sweet machine.

My current laptop is an Ei systems4410 intel celeron 2.2ghz with 30gb hdd which ive had for almost 10 years now so this will be a major upgrade for me.

I checked my Order Status page and didn't see anything about the bill to. So, I remembered from an earlier post about calling DPA (I purchased mine on Dell credit to get the additional 3%) and gave them a call. The rep asked how she could help and I told her I would like to be able to get the item approved and see if there was any way to expidite the order. She informed me that the item is in approval but that it won't technically be charged or reflect that until it ships. Which is understandable. So, I asked if there was any way she could see if it could get expidited. She looked it up and said that it is due to ship on the 9th of March. (My original date was March 24th!) I asked her to repeat that ship date again and it is indeed March 9th. She said that there (as we all know well by now) is an overabundance of orders to fill and they are on a first come first shipped basis. But, hey somehow calling in bumped it up two weeks. NOW, time will tell

 

Just transitioned to In Production today. The phone automated status just says "currently being processed" though. But something moved! Ordered 2/17, EDD 3/18.

Anyways, congrats on your M11x! Most likely you'll get your M11x a few days before the EDD.

I'm not complaining at all - my post as the reply it was to the post right before it- the question was, is anyone still in "build"? My answer was "yes".

I ordered on the 11th, EDD still out as March 12th. Not really worried yet, despite really wanting to have it just as much as the next impatient soul.

Congrats on your shipped status, you went through hell, poor lad.

Welp I'm prepping myself for tomorrow's hopeful delivery. I don't expect fedex to update until tomorrow morning, it just shows picked up in Nashville, hope the next update I see is arrival in Tampa =) So excited about this, plan to upload a video and some pics.

what will be your exact move if the product does not arrive on the given EDD while a lot of people who ordered after you already has theirs in their hands??

Just called the automated line and checked, 9 days after ordering my order has moved from pre-production and entered build purgatory. Let's see how long it takes to progress further...

 

Looks like you and me are in the same boat - let's hope our boat comes ashore sooner than promised!

 

Just checked my status and went from in production yesterday to shipped with an EDD of 2/26/10! I was definitely not expecting to see that. I ordered on 2/11 although I ordered the SU4100. I just gave my old Gateway netbook to my fiancee today so this must be good karma.

Ordered on Feb. 9, 2010 which gave me a EDD of March 15, 2010.
m11x shipped today (Feb. 24, 2010) by Purolator in the U.S.

I ordered the basic m11x modifying only the ram up to 4GB with a Dell Prefered Account.

Can't wait

 

Anyone from Canada have problems tracking thier package via Purolator?
Mine shipped out yesterday, I have a tracking number but nothing shows up on the site......

I ordered 2/8, original EDD of 3/12.
Got email notification late last night that my order had shipped, with a tracking number following pretty quick(althought not working). I had upgraded processor, ram and 250 gig hd) EDD has been replaced with "Order Shipped" ???).

 

I go to http://www.purolator.ca, click on Track, Track by Pin and paste your order number in the dialog box and make sure there are no spaces before and after your code. Works for me.

 

yea.. it's official.. no sense of first come first serve.. .. don't get me wrong i'm glad you guys are getting yours soon.. but i'm just sad i ordered atleast a week before and i'm still in the purgatory...

 

My decision has already been made.

I purchased a DM3t from HP's refurb store yesterday and its on track to be delivered this Friday. While its graphics card is no 335m, the 105m + SP9300 CPU combo will more than suit my needs for development and light gaming.

M11x (if it ever comes) will be returned.

 

Yeah I have done that, just gives me 2 phone numbers to call.
When I called the person wasn't any help lol.

Yeah, Canadian orders for Alienware stuff comes from the U.S. Don't know where exactly or it could give me an estimation of the time it will take to get here. My only hope is that it gets here while I'm at home. I hate having to go pick it up somewhere or waiting the next day. I feel safer when I am there to receive my packages.

EDIT : I live in Quebec City. Usually when I get something shipped from the other side of the country it goes through Montreal before coming here and doesn't stop anywhere else along the way.

 

Getting mine delivered to work.

Maybe i missed this somewhere in the 224 pages, but is it the people who didnt get the name plate that are getting the systems?

 

It depends. If they push the EDD to 3/5 or 3/6, I'll probably wait it out. If it goes passed the 10th or 11th, I'll just cancel and get a different laptop. No sense in giving them money to screw me over.

I haven't bought a Dell in probably 6 or 7 years so I'm hoping my jump back into the company will be a good one. We'll see.

 

My wife just messaged me to let me know my M11X has just arrived at home.

Wish I had it delivered to work so I could be playing with it....

Ordered on 2/3 with an EDD of 3/5. Was stuck in build hell till about 3 days ago. Called up a rep and complained and said I need it delivered by the 25th because I'm leaving town. It "magically" shipped out the day after without ever going into the boxing phase...

 

so i just ordered this puppy today and have an EDD of 03/29 *sigh*
