*OFFICIAL* M11x Order Status Discussion Thread

For what it's worth. I have been receiving regular emails every 3 days from my rep on the status of my order. The last one sent to me on Monday was this:

This is a follow up email to let you know that I’m still monitoring your order and the order has not shipped yet. The order is presently on shortage for the part for the ‘ power cord on part # K2490’ and please be assured that the order will be built on priority basis, once the items are in stock as the expedite request for the order has been sent.


I am supposed to get another update Thursday morning. If anything changes, I will be sure to post it.

 

Power cord? LOL! That's the hold up? Isn't that like the most generic thing with laptops? How'd you get on the expedite list? And what country do you live in?

 

US and, well tbh, I think the lady rep was just sweet on me lol. I never really asked for extra service, but when she offered I didn't say no either

 

Dell guy told me that mines in the queue for production... This is going to be a long day...

 

at least it's going to be in production, mate. instead of stuck somewhere at 'order acknowledgment'. mine is in 3rd day of production (no part shortages reported, yet). pls get it done by Friday!

 

Would the M11x make a sufficient desktop replacement for light gaming?

Thats from dell online. Had no time to ring them today. Busy day at work.

 

Actually, mine is temp authorization also. The charge hasn't posted to a statement.

Edit: Some friends at Alienware put my order in for me, they might have done high priority

Just called the automated line this morning and my status, is in the build stage still. It's been in build stage for the past 4 days or so. Ill keep you all posted.

 

Yeah I have been in the build stage since 3/6. But right now it's Chinese New Year I believe so nothing is getting built.

 

Mines now in production! I'm in the uk other info is in my sig..

 

Placed order this morning, currently in production. ETA is, sadly, 27th Feb, but fingers crossed for it coming sooner. Ordered through Dell Japan.

Everyone just relax, go do something else, and check your status in a week or so. Nothing's going to change.

 

for orders in the UK. has the money been taken out of anybodies account by dell yet ? my order is inproduction but the money is still in my account and there are no pending transactions either.... i ask becuase there was a pending transation for the laptop amount but it has now gone.. which worries me!

If any want to check, at the point Dell says "You can not cancel the order", that is when it is really in production. Be careful getting hopes up too early.

 

how does one test this ? ring up and pretend to cancel ones order ?:laugh:

 

... as a bonus for waiting you should get fully implemented Nvidia Optimus. The hardware was always there, but by month end the software should be done too.

That spares you the several seconds and at least a calorie expended on pressing Fn - F7.

One more reason to wait IMO.

 

Question upon waiting for our systems to come in, I've only ordered from Dell about 4 years ago, but do they require signature upon delivery? Can it be anyone in the house/apt 18+ years? I work 8-5 M-F and will have trouble physically being available to sign for the laptop. It is possible my GF may be home, but in the event she is not, does FedEx/UPS usually allow for same day pick up at a warehouse location? I assume FedEx since that's what it was 4 years ago lol, this is Next Business Day shipping as well.

All of my past purchases from Dell were just left at the door. It really depends on the shipper used and the discretion of the driver if its UPS.

 

If they use DHL hope that they have a warehouse nearby. The closest one to me is 20 miles from my house. DHL is the worst carrier ever IMHO. I only hope mine goes through UPS.

 

With some (all?) of the couriers you can keep a signature on file and then they don't require packages to be signed. The fun part about this is that if someone who used to live where you live now did that then it doesn't matter that you're not them. It's still marked as ok to drop off without someone to sign for it.

Personally for something like this I'd rather sign for it or have to drive down to go get it. Depending on your delivery window you might have to wait until almost closing or the day after to pick it up.

 

DHL only ships internationally. I think that's been the case for almost a year now.

Personally, I prefer FedEx. They always deliver my packages before noon , but I guess UPS would be fine also.

 

Question: Do you guys think that say I ordered this in April, I would have to wait a long time? As in would it get back-ordered that if I ordered say beginning of April I won't get it till May? Or they would have enough to supply the demand by then?

 

I think it's too early to tell right now.

Does the m11x have the built-in illuminated keyboard?

When i go check the store it says nothing about it. Is there any coupon deals for ir?

everything looks to be on schedule when i checked this morning until my rep sent in an email stating this:

Heads up to you:-

The first batch of Alienware 11x yet to assemble. We receive a long lead time notice from production this morning due to battery shortages. (change to 3 weeks lead time)
Might not be able to deliver before 19th FEB.

*sigh*

 

I wonder if it matters if you're in a different region or not.
