Malaysian orders came off the China production hence i assume all units build in China are might be affected.
-
now i'm glad i've yet to order mine...
but definitely a major setback for you guys. -
I'm glad I ordered mine when I did. 2-3 hours before coupon stacking was disabled lol.
-
Haven't heard anything about the shortage in canada yet......
-
same here dude! i was literally maybe 2-3 hours away from that!
and what do you mean by feb 19:/ cause my ETA is march 8? am i affected? -
Mine is March 12th.....boooooooooo
-
The Dell website confuses me. My estimated delivery date is listed as "1/1/0001," so apparently it should have arrived about 2000 years ago. And it says the shipping method is "Canada Standard," despite the fact that I live in the US and paid for overnight shipping.
-
Ordered: February 2nd
Money: Paypal is still pending and the money is waiting in my bank
Delivery Date: March 8th (has been since I first placed the order)
Online Status: In Production
Phone Status: Build Stage
As long as my date doesn't go back any further. -
I remember them closing ground at some point. Couldn't find the link for the life of me. -
You should probably call customer service and have that fixed, though. -
Yea...I don't like dhl parcel service at all. usually get boxes all beat up. that was a few years ago though.
-
.
I hope delivery date will neverchange and arrive sooner actually..
-
Every Dell system I have ever owned has come 2 - 3 days earlier then the EDD provided. Although this laptop is officially out yet so that will probably not be the case. I hope that I am wrong about that.....
-
I hope the review models are not affected by this shortage. I want to see more pictures and reviews! ign/heaven pre-production model reviews are just not enough to get us by!
I ordered 12pm cst 2/2 so hopefully I won't be affected by this shortage. 2210 is still telling me edd 3/3. -
Owch... Sigh, we're all stuffed now.
-
Hey guess what, dr650se might actually get his unit before any of us do! ROFL
-
lol nuke I wouldn't feel bad if he did, though. But the original email that wingzee quoted said " Might not be able to deliver before 19th FEB." (emphasis added) I can only assume the delivery date will still fall within range for us with March EDDs (essentially everyone in the US).
It's not good news, but it's not really bad news I suppose. -
Its very bad news for me. Means no pc for at least the 1st month of uni. That's just... Awesome. Sigh. Plus I didn't order as early as you bunch...
-
My EDD is still sitting at 3/8 has not moved since i ordered...also status has changed to "in production".
-
experienced shortages on my past purchases with Dell too and still they managed to deliver much earlier than the EDDs. have faith, guys! -
I'm running low on faith mate. We'll see how my luck holds. T_T
EDIT= hey wing, my rep just told me that they have not recieved the production report for the day yet @_@?? -
-
Sigh, this is truly depressing. T_T
-
-
Too depressed to try customer care. I shall wallow in my misery corner. Eeyore, beat that!
-
Mine's FINALLY In Production.Thank god.Crossing fingers for earlier delivery than promised (the 2nd time round ¬_¬).
-
Mine is still a Work In Progress and hasn't even moved into the Production Stage. Every day i'm waiting for that E-mail to say my date has been pushed back but it still hasn't happened. 22/2/2010 is still the date, wonder where the laptops are produced for Ireland since Dell and Alienware just left last year ?
-
My order status states "In Production" as well.
-
Lucky Dan. My rep just told me they were finalising parts and orders. Goodness knows what that means
-
i gave up on the daily order updates. just wake me up when it's ready for delivery. -
Seconded, wing. It seems that the Americans know how to set expectations better than their European counterparts. sigh
-
Just spoke to my rep regarding my order for the M11x I placed on the 3rd.
He put me on hold while he spoke to the manufacturing team whatever that means after a brief hold he came back to tell me that this system is new and there are some delay with parts which included the processor (in my case SU7300), and the LCD which are currently on back order from the supplier.
So…I asked him what exactly does this mean with regards to my order and the fact that my order has not changed, and is still sitting in the processed stage, since in the past any orders I have placed usually moved quicker thru the production stage.
What he told me was that they would waive the 16.00 freight cost, and that he would have my order prioritized up. take this for what its worth I got the frieght waived so any little bit helps
Email below:
Dear:
Thank you for contacting customer service.
I personally apologize for the inconvenience caused here.
Your issue has been assigned service request number (blank). We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
This is with reference to the status of the order number (blank).
As per our discussion I have waived off the $16.00 shipping fee and have also instructed the manufacturing team to expedite the order. -
Bottom line here, is this is very similar to a "pre-order" basically. The units don't exist yet. They're ramping up for production, and probably have a launch date of end of February. So it's just a matter of them getting production running. All this back order stuff is normal for any new product launch. Dell would have been better to sell it as a "pre-order" with a launch date of March 1, 2010 or something like that. This way you wouldn't expect the product to even be built before then.
I wouldn't be too anxious to get one earlier than a little later because initial launch units are susceptible to quality issues as they work out the kinks in the line. -
Delays happen.I've had Zino delayed with Dell for over a month. This seems the case with all hot releases
-
Can't argue with the fact that these delays will happen with new products and people who think differently are being unrealistic. But, Dell does not cover itself in glory by giving people EDD that may not be possible, for me once these dates are given out it is up to them to update people on what is going on rather than having people scouring for answers and constantly ringing customer service.

Does anyone know the number for Dell Order status updates in the US? My stored number doesn't work anymore :/
-
1800 283 2210
I just called this morning. music = 3, no music =4, then 2,1,1 then order #
still in good ole build status.. blah -
strange, that's the same #. Didn't work an hour ago :/ And yea, mine is still in the build stage, too.
-
As long as I have mine before I fly out to Boston for PAX east I'll be happy
-
Ah, I wish I could make it out to PAX East. This will be the first PAX I've missed in 3 years. Unfortunately, it was a choice between PAX East and an M11x. It was a tough decision. (I simply can't afford flying halfway across the country and taking a few days off twice a year.)
Oh well, perhaps next year I'll forgo PAX Prime for PAX East. Depends how this year's inaugural show goes. -
You guys dont know how lucky you are Ireland is far removed from these events. Your lucky your on the same island.
-
-
-
ZOMG kyo, you forgone PAX for this laptop. Now thats dedication mate!
-
Just checked again.... Still in build and still estimated to ship on 3/3.. Patience = Zero, running on back up
-
well i just put in an order for this thing. well the wait time isnt as bad as when i had that m15x. waiting 2 months for that thing >>
-
@exiled
congrats bro! join us in the wait, lol.
Waiting 2 months is a lot, wow. did you pre-order on the M15x release? -
it was the old m15x with the hinge problem. well i didnt preorder it but they had some super back ordering problems so alot of people needed to wait a long time to get their m15x
time to make that countdown for 3/17
