-
hi im from uk i customised mine with core 2 duo and 4gb ram i have edd of 26/02/10
-
@ahnslot : which disk did you order, and what status is yours in? you have the same EDD as me
(SU7300/4Gb, with an SSD) -
Im from the Uk also orderd 9Am on the 02/02/10, and still "Work in progress" anyone who upgraded to the SSD drive had there status change to "in production" yet?
-
yeah mines still work in progress matutu, still no money taken etc... oh well, anticipation of a new toy is a nice sensation anyway, i've come through the 'gimmie now' phase
-
-
Spuddeh we could be in a delay on ours spoke to DELL, this morning and the problem is they have no 256GB SSD at this moment
.
-
-
hmm US here, nothing's changed on mine even with 256SSD. Same ETA of March 4, 2010, in production, call status is build stage.
-
Same here.
-
-
I think this is the sort of device that is going to help PC gaming to compete against consoles. I know its not a gaming powerhouse, but it has the best of all worlds. No more shall I suffer the frustration of non toilet gaming
-
I predicted we would see some units ship next week, but I think I am wrong. Why? If you check with Dell, you can STILL cancel the order. You can NOT cancel IF the order has actually been allocated to production.
Seems they are still in full pre-order mode and any rep telling you it "should ship in a few days" is talking without really checking. Best case now seems the last week of February for some to ship. Just saying. -
Called today status currently being processed order placed 2/3/10. In US this is all over the place and changes from day to day for me anyways im done calling it comes when it comes.

@Matutu ; well thats a real disappointment, but not entirely unexpected
@rushmore : not the first time dell's production has been a letdown. my m1710 took at least a month to arrive, and they'd been out for ages (LCD shortage iirc) -
-
Still if anyone in the uk has orderd a M11x with the 256SSD and has any other status than "Work In Progress" please shout! -
-
Ordered mine from Dell UK 05/02/10, It was work in progress untill 09/02, now been in production for 3 days. I ordered the SU7300, 4GB Ram, 320 HDD and Pro 7. ETA 24/02/2010.
I want it Now!! -
I m still EDD 22nd but thy won happen cause I'm still a work in progress.
-
Mine is showing an EDD of 3/10 unfortunately. I had them do a cancel/re-order to upgrade the HDD to the 7.2k option.
Interestingly enough, on the support.dell.com website my EDD disappeared. I can look it up through the internal ordering tool and still see the 3/10 though. -
Ordered on Feb. 05, 2010 with EDD of March 15, 2010.
Something I noticed today is that the "LUNAR SILVER" option (At least on the Canadian version of the site) is no longer available, which is what I ordered. The Lunar silver system color has now been replaced with "LUNAR SHADOW" option ... which leads me to belive they ran out of "LUNAR SILVER" or won't be doing it anymore, which may cause delays.
Or it could have been Lunar Shadow from the beginning, but kept calling it Lunar Silver until they changed it. -
Here is an interesting update on my order. But first I feel it's neccessary to bore you with the background.
A week or so ago I ordered an M11X. The price was down to $950, but I had a $50 American Express gift card. So I used that for part of the payment. So I paid $900. Well... Dell messed up the order, they spelled my name Danielle on the nameplate, so it had to be canceled since the order was put in like that since my name is Daniel. So I don't know where they got the extra letters, because everything I gave them and told them says Daniel. Well I had the rep cancel the order, but then he told me I needed to contact American Express to get the credit back. They would do the same. So I called and the balance never got returned. So they gave me the $900 price anyway since they already had my gift card money. Well 5 days later I checked my credit card and it says $900 for temp authorizations. Ok good, nothing wrong, well, today I checked they credit card, and my temp authorization from dell is now $850. So it looks like the took the same $50 gift card twice. That or the got the money back to the Amex card, then charged it again, essentially making my unit even cheaper.
So now my question to you is, should I contact dell? I have no problem paying the extra $50, and I'm all about saving money, I just want to know that in the end, they won't come bothering me for $50 later on. Which I don't mind paying, but I hate dealing with the hassle. Or should I consider it a gift for my headache, since I did make a point to let them know that I would call the customer care consessions section about the issues. What are your thoughts? I just don't want any issues delaying my EDD which is late enough as is due to location. -
Onto Dell earlier they say that the EDD of 22nd still stands even though the laptop has not started manufacture, also i was not given a time frame for the missing parts nor would they tell me what was missing they just looopt their answers around so that as always you learn nothing.
-
But, then, I work for Dell so maybe my opinion is skewed. -
i would try to get the 50 back since its money in the end. Though if they spelled your name wrong you could of called AW customer service after they sent you the laptop and they would send you another nameplate. This happened a couple times on this forum where AW etched the name wrong so they would just send you another one. replacing the nameplate is also very easy because its just held on by 4 screws, one in each corner. -
Trying to figure out a timeline.
Placed my order on Feb 3 and it passed Credit Card check and processed same day. I'm pretty sure I got a build stage message on Feb 5.
Chinese new year is Feb 14.
Wouldn't this allow sufficient time From Feb 5 to Feb 13 to build it? That's 8 days if they take Sunday's off. I mean the build cars in less than a day.
your thoughts? -
The name plate issue was taken care of. Thats what caused the issue/headache/hours on the phone to amex/dell. Had to have it canceled and reordered. Below was how Ibecame aware of it.
"we encountered an error on the system because the spelling of “DANIEL” became “DANIELLE” and if we need to change the spelling of your name we need to cancel the order as soon as possible so that we can still use the gift card and transfer authorization on you mastercard. The gift card can be redeemed within 24 hrs and after cancelling the current order you need to call American Express to refresh again the gift card. We do apologize for this and I hope we can resolve this as soon as possible"
I laughed at this "if we need to change the spelling of your name" C'mon, do I really want to be toting around an M11X with some chicks name on it??And I'm sure the system is to blame for that hahaha
@projectgsx, though your opinion may be skewed, you guys still work hard for your money. I have never had a problem with dell in the past and if I was working at dell, I'd want an error on my behalf brought to my attention before I got fired for it or it became a larger issue. But I already emailed my rep about it. Just waiting to hear back from him. -

About the name plate, what if you decided to have a normal M11x name plate instead of the craziness of the customized version? Can you still call Alienware after you get the laptop and request a normal name plate? If so, would that cost extra?
-
-
I ordered on Feb 8th with an EDD of March 12. I would obviously love to get it sooner but from what I have seen all over the web ( except here) is that they don't ship until then.
I could be ( and hopefully am) wrong. -
I was told by a rep that my order would be expedited, i think the earliest you can get one is the 4th..?
-
-
Mine is 3rd too, on the email link, I have not ever called the number though to see if anything changed.
-
Perhaps mine will come in late feb? -
A nice note, just noticed that my EPP rep applied free shipping on top of all the discounts, even after all the arguments we had where he kept telling me I couldn't stack the discounts up repeatedly. -
Hey, guys. what the crap is this?
430-8555 1 Optional Bluetooth Module, 2.1+ Enhanced Data Rate

sp0_0ki was on my order email. What is that? Did you guys get that, too?
edit: is that the name on the plate? What the crapI asked for nothing on mine.
-
Just ordered a Lunar Shadow with the SU7300 maxed out everything (ram I stayed with 4GBs). Can't wait to see how this is. It will replace my 2.16Ghz Core2 Dell XPS M1210 with the Nvidia 7400GO in it. My XPS only gets 971 points in 3DMark06 so this M11x should be a little multimedia power house compared to the XPS.
-
Emailed my Customer Care guy and he told me this morning
"Your order is booked with a standard lead time and our manufacturing team building the computers that are received in the order it was placed."
Ordered 2/3 -
jonjonk, look at your confirmation email. Does it say anything next to the "xxx":

Hey guys, just wanted to share my brief M11x experience with you:
I was at the Alienware offices today to pick up my M17x-R2 after it had been loaded with a new updated bios (it was captured by AW for repairs). While being given a tour of the facility, I was allowed to play with the M11x. Here's my impressions:
Build quality: Although it's plastic, it's quite solid. The keyboard has no flex, the display lid seemed firm and the system was pleasant to use overall.
Screen: 11.6", bright, decent blacks and quite easy to read. You guys will like it.
Keyboard: As I mentioned, it has no flex and is quite comfortable to type with since the keys are pretty big.
Trackpad: It was textured like the M15x/M17x but it didn't have any of the lag associated with it. It was smooth and should keep most of you happy.
Weight: The unit is very light, I'd say about 4 lbs and it was easy enough to lift and carry around. This system will be perfect for those of you that will be on the go a lot.
Gaming: Unfortunately there were no games on hand so I didn't get to play any. I did check the device manager and the test unit I had was equipped with a nvidia 335GT and I believe SU4100 CPU.
Operations: The browser loaded quickly, all the sytem menus were quite fast. I didn't feel any lag while using this system.
Fan sound: There was none! The machine was completely silent during idle and light use because the fan didn't kick on and the machine didn't even get warm. You guys are going to be very pleased with how quiet this thing is.
Now that I've had a chance to use it, I may opt to get one for myself down the line. -
Thank you for update! Can't wait!

@ Joker
