*OFFICIAL* M11x Order Status Discussion Thread

Any idea how long shipping from China to UK takes? My order changed to shipped 2 days ago, but tracking just says departed MANU Facility China on 10/03

 

My tracking is saying customer number / order number don't match.

Will that correct itself after a time?

 

I had the same thing, after a few days it works. UPS?

Well just spoke with Walsh Western / Syncreon and my order will arrive on Tuesday via Business Post Ltd, which is a bit of a shame as I hoped I might get it for the weekend. Anyway cant complain as I only ordered online at about 11.00pm on 03/03. 8 working days from order to delivery doesnt seem too bad.

 

I agree vorbis, quite fast time for what I've seen around here. Mine too by the way:

I ordered mine about 7:00PM on Monday the 1st. It was delivered Wednesday morning just gone (10th). Excluding day of ordering (after hours order) and day of delivery, the turnaround was 6 working days, which is pretty impressive! The EDD was originally the 7th April!

 

Oh sweet jesus at last! Ordered 10th Feb, many EDDs later, well, still 24th March but it's finally gotten out of production and into shipping prep.

 

EDD on 2nd machine is 3/17, thats about a week from the rep actually placing the order if they can meet that date.

Maybe they are getting better? (or expediting replacements)

 

Anyone have an earlier order date than 2/7 at this point?

 

Ordered 3/4 edd updated to 3/15 thats only 8 business days woo. and of course i get NBD shipping and they ship it on a friday.....

 

wow, this is going to sound pathetic, but I had a dream where I picked the laptops up from the depot, and opened one up (mine, not hers of course) and it was a KIRF (fake) like engadget always reports on.

trying to get this system before I leave town is stressin me!

 

Woop Woop my order has shipped after I sent another email to dell asking about the hold up in production...but when i click on the tracking service it goes "The Order Number entered did not match the Customer Number" :S any ideas?

 

Someone on the page before said i takes a few days to update.

Dell cancelled my first order and replaced it with an order containing a Logitech G500! Huzzah! I was meant to be getting the free Alienware TactX mouse, with the ESL Pro series Alienware M11x, but they told me that deal had finished.
I said that if they were still advertising the deal and they acknowledged that.
They said they'd do their best to honour the deal. Today, they cancelled the order and replaced it. Also, the "South African Bluetooth Card" that I was so confused about is fixed! It now reads "Europe Dell Bluetooth Card". Fantastic!
The only downside, EDD has slipped to 31st March, but the rep tried to assured me it'd be here sooner.
Here's hoping all the rest of the order goes fine.

 

Yh mine order went through around the 3/4 of march and had an edd of the 3rd april but it shipped today

 

ordered 3/7 in boxing 3/12 should be here by 3/14 or 3/15

Pushed from 3/8 to 3/16 to 3/18. No explanation given.

 

That is awful - I ordered 2/3, and got it 2/23. My SECOND one to replace this one has an EDD of 3/17.

 

Originally ordered on 2/5 with an EDD of 3/8 which was pushed out to 3/15+. So I cancelled are reordered with a few modication based on all the thread feedback on 3/5 with and EDD of 3/26 and it is already in boxing stage as of today.

On 3/11/2010 I called to check my order status, and it changed from Production/Build status to Changed status. I then call another automated number to find the order has been Cancelled!

So then I call to speak to a person, which ended up being someone in India. He tells me the order was cancelled due to a "illegal configuration". I asked "huh?" He did some digging and said something was wrong in a color selection, and that a new part # was needed. I then said I ordered Cosmic Black out of the 2 available colors. He then said "I'm sorry sir, that's all I'm able to see. I'll transfer you to your sales rep." I get transferred, and of course I can't reach him even after several tries.

The Indian guy calls me back shortly and asks me if I spoke to my sales rep, and I told him no, that I couldn't get through. He then says my order was assigned a new order # and gives that to me, now with an EDD of 4/2/2010. What's really upsetting is that I planned to be out of state come April and I needed the laptop with me.

So I pull up the stats for my "old" order and bring it into Excel. I do the same with my new order - no change what so ever, including part numbers.

So I end up emailing my sales rep and ask is going on, and that I was never notified about my order cancellation and reissue. He responds back and apologizes. He states he's contacted his manager and will attempt to get an expidited build, and do everything possible to get my order to me before April. I respond back and tell him about reports here of M11x build issues, and that I'd prefer that the build be done correctly and not rushed - if that's what an expidited build meant.

Anyway, I'm actuall quite pissed. I'm almost tempted to just cancel my order all together and wait a while and see what comes out in the near future.

As I understand it at present they have run out of m11x motherboards so this would explain the present long delivery dates.

 

well much to my surprise my dell rep's manager sent me an email saying that build stage is now complete and is in transit :O that was quicker than i thought maybe she is pushing this trough asap.. should be here next week hopefully... she said she will get back to me with a good EDD... wow i am surprised she even got back to me with out me emailing her .. im in shock

 

How is it that you know this info?

Id love to call them and get that info myself would ease the pain a little.

 

Their standard shipping time is about 3 weeks.

->Dell sends some products sooner (not many though) in order to get the word spreading. Word-of-mouth advertising is better than traditional one.

->Most orders take 3 weeks to deliver

->Some orders are delayed due to errors in the delivery chain/components missing from stock

I`m in the marketing world and this is how I would explain the delivery time for the M11x. Do you have any other ideas?

I think I would have to disagree there.

They are still competeing with Brick & Mortar stores. The only word of mouth that is going to spread is how freakishly long it takes to build a 11 inch notebook great marketing eh?

It's just a supply / demand balancing act IMO they have a hot new product that they hope we will all love. They start with a fair ammount of parts if the demand goes up or stays high they will crank up the order production.

They have no shipping standard at least none that I have seen. and if 3 weeks was standard this will probably be the last thing I may buy from dell.

I do want a quality built product but cmon 3+ weeks the world just doesnt move that slow technology just moves to fast.

 

Their main disadvantage is that they don`t offer a number of shipping methods and delivery times to choose from. They stick with their traditional one, which lets down most of us.

About the ~3-week standard delivery time, I didn`t come up with that myself. I got that from Dell themselves.
However, the figure refers to Dell UK only.

 

So I ordered my first m11x on the 5th of February, and still have not received it. I ordered another one as per my sales rep last week, but then found out my original order has been canceled, instead of waiting till one of the order's had shipped.

My old EDD on the first order was the 12th of march.

My current EDD is the 29th of MARCH!!!!

Should I blow up now or later?

 

Whoever's gotten delayed must have been placed in a crappy manufacturing plant. Its not the shipping's fault. Its the production line's fault. Plus only the USA gets special perks such as engravings and more expensive but faster courier shipping options. So unless you're in the US of A, your pc is chucked on the same plane as everyone else on the planet.

Finally got both systems today. Drove to the Fedex Depot and picked them up. So far so good. No issues with screen, fan noise, crashing, or OCing on either system.

Very happy so far!

my order date to delivery date was a week and a day turnaround. I think your going to see more of that from now on.

Mine gets here very soon....Dell screwed up and did normal shipping vs NBD. However....why does Fedex say that the package is 55lbs?

 

I'll get the photos up Later. Good Night. So far only problem I've found is Speaker LED on right side is darker than left... Duno if I should complain or not...

 

Maybe you are getting 5 of them. Mine was listed as 10 lbs.

I keep checking it to see if the robot hasn't missed anything lol

i doubt that they have run out of motherboards since i ordered mine on the 23/25th of February and it was shipped on the 10th and was received on the 11th of March. A total of 2 weeks in production.

 

Mine took 1 week from order to get to me (it's on it's way today). I guess I got lucky. Unless its somehow 55 pounds. They mixed the m11x with a crate of twinkies and it;s going to be a fatty11x

 

Mine was listed as 30 something pounds and when it got to my apartment, it was only 9 or 10. I wouldnt worry about it too much.

 

Hey guys! I don't have words to describe my satisfaction with my M11x...I just kept thinking of this thread and how anxious you guys might be! So I did a unboxing video of my unit..just an ordinary unboxing, here's a YOUTUBE link.

I Oc mine right out of the box, I was blown away, while downloading DaO @ 1mb ps, installing CoD4 and multitasking with 7 open IE windows, listening to music plus other applications running all at the same time, the M11x does it all with no problems! I'm still perplexed at the power that this notebook packs! I guarantee it's worth the wait guys! I can't think of myself without my Iphone and now my M11x!
