Starcraft II system requirements.. I dunno if netbooks had the hardware to run this but the minimum display resolution sure does hurt them =) Looks like we're good to go.

=( i wanted to be a member of the m11x lounge, but dell raised the price of the alienware. you already had to add a bunch of stuff to make it worth it. now if you do that the price is so high might as well get the 15x. but i dont want it that large. i was going to order march 1st. now i think ill pass.

So you never say you OCed, pop out the CMOS battery and there is no possible way for them to tell. Just keep it in mind if you need support, YOU NEVER ADMIT TO OCING!

Price really isn't different. You can easily get it with all the needed upgrades for less than $100. Honestly, with the word that the SU4100 overclocks you could probably get it for less than $900 now easily.

 

WTH are you talking about? They never raised the price. And it is nowhere near the price of the M15x well spec'd. And the 335m is actually a bit better than the 240 in the base M15x - you'd have to spend $1700 to get one with a 260.

You can get the M11x with 4GB of RAM and a 250gb 7200RPM hard drive for $899. Add on the core 2 duo and you're still only at $999 - the originally advertised price.

And why would you get an M15x instead of this? One is an ultraportable and the other a desktop replacement. They could be the same price and still worth it - they meet different needs.

 

my netbook is only 8" and has a resolution of 1600 by 768 ! better than the m11x !! it has an amazing screen

anyway SC2 min beta requirements ! whats everybody thoughts on this ? i note its about the same as Red Alert 3.

i really wish somebody has a m11x to run some tests !

I also notice that they have reverted the RAM speed for sale in the M11x back to 800MHz. When the M11x first went up for sale, the speed was advertised in it's overclocked state (i.e. 1066MHz).

 

Then don't tell them it was ever overclocked. If they ask you if you overclocked, simply say "what is overclocking?"

 

your blowing up for nothing. they did raise the price to 1069.00 or something. with upgrades you could push it to 1400. which does make it not worth it. they changed the price back to 799.00 again. Read back the thread im not the only one who saw the change. i dont know what dell is doing. but its back normal now

 

the 1069 figure is thru the EPP. 799 is the base price on the Dell website....

yeh, facebook lags on my computer. i only get 15-20 fps on med settings.

anyhow thought i should mention is OCing 266*6 = 1.6 GHz or 288*6=1.73? Also im getting a 1333 MHz RAM i know it will be down clocked to 1066 but if i OC would it stay at 1066 or will it 1333?

 

it's 266 * 6.5 = 1.73... from my understanding..

so getting 1333 would only downclock - no need to buy that high..

I heard WoW will not run well on the M11x because of the cpu strength. WoW requires alot more cpu power and the M11x doesnt have it (it has gpu)

 

i doubt it will have a problem. I have run it on much less power then the m11x is offering....and on decent settings as well.

 

They did raise the prices and also disabled most of the epp coupons. I would not buy the m11x for the normal prices because it's too much for what you get after the essential upgrades but that happens with many things having to pay for the name not just Alienware but many companies like Apple Sony Etc... also. Alot of people don't understand and just go on saying how cheap this thing is because they originally got it with su7300,7200 rpm HD, 4gb Ram Bluetooth etc for like 750.00, that was a really good deal but is impossible to get now.

So you kind of have to have a better understanding when people come here wondering why people are posting how cheap m11x is etc... because they can no longer get the same deals we all got. It was a pretty huge discount with the 10% off plus the 50.00 off plus the 100.00 off plus plus... there were so many deals when it first came out that are disabled now most people are having to pay over 1000 before taxes and shipping now for the same specs most of us got.

Well let me tell you what I ordered tonight from doing business with my EPP rep.

*For upgrade means something added to the base $799 model price and config.

SU7300 C2D 1.3 Ghz processor (extra $100 for upgrade)
4G Ram - (extra $50 for upgrade)
500 GB hd (extra $50 for upgrade)
Microsoft student home and office edition (extra $159 for upgrade)
Free shipping (was $15.99 on standard build)

so if you add my upgrades to the base $799 total you get a subtotal price of $1159

well that ends up being around $1354 after tax.

My Dell rep got me a subtotal for this same configuration at $1037!!!!

with tax thats about $1117

about a $250 discount just by ordering over the phone

I think the price is still reasonable for what all I got.

 

who needs high FPS in dalaran anyway? so you can /sit or /flex or just /afk ??

personally when I played WoW I just set max FPS at 25 and called it good. It was on my Macbook and fans were near silent by doing this and I didn't notice a visual difference at all

 

Yeah cause running around dalaran is important. I know most wow players spend most of their time doing nothing in dalaran but run around aimlessly waiting for raids or whatever to start, but seriously. I used to play on my old notebook with a 1.5 mhz cpu and a 8600 and get 15 fps in dalaran, i highly doubt this thing will have a problem with it.

 

Darkhan or nagshead, aw insiders or something, even said they played the game maxed out or at very high settings.

 

I thought about resubbing WoW just b/c this PoS Inspiron 1501 can't really play anything but WoW... or I could try Half-Life Source and see if that works =). I could also go look up Oldblivion and see what computers that can run on. ATI Xpress 1100 = fail

 

Price good but 750.00 to over 1000.00 still big jump, why you get office for 159.00 you can get much cheaper with student discount even from Amazon right now only 95.00 http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Office-Home-Student-2007/dp/B000HCZ8EO it goes as low as 49.99 sometime! Anyways I think the price of m11x will come down again, I think because so many people bought with all the discount Dell jack up the price. Law of Supply and Demand. The price will come down again soon because not so many people ordering with the raised prices.

I've been looking at rpgs old and new too. Oblivion, the witcher, etc. I'm starting to think this m11x was a bad idea to buy. Gonna be a life ender.

 

dude, i ended up getting office for free.. Did you read the last part of my post? That was the deal, he gave me all those "upgrades" for free and I STILL beat the internet base price.

unfortunately I was planning on ordering the throttlebook 1645 when these m11xs were on sale. Didnt really give them a good look until I found out all the xps 16s were having issues.

 

@NSX if you're looking into Oblivion, then life-ender right there man. Such a fun game. I was looking into the mod "Oldblivion" hehe which lets me run it on weakass hardware =) But yeah I have a couple of RPG's I need to complete when I get my M11x - Dragon Age Origins being the first. I got Mass Effect 2 on 360 though to kill time waiting for computer..

 

It is good example of the difference between people that bought before with the crazy discounts and people who buying now, before you get that same config for about 800 without the Office... So you get a good deal for current price but before with the discount available the price was crazy. most people now don't know about the prices before.

Ha ha yea, i beat me2, but haven't gone through a 2nd play through yet. I'm also going to be playing DA:O, hopefully around high settings. Awakenings coming out too so...life ender...here I come. Glad this computer came out ha ha.

 

Can anyone please tell me or PM me the dell order status number? not the normal 800 number that just tell you generic message that your order is being processed, but the one that would tell you whether your pc is being boxed....shipped..etc... thanks in advance.
