lol im just so happy. been waiting since june! -
Ill send you my M11X tomorrow for the SC2 key.
Joking.....maybe not.
I really want one, honestly more than I want my M11X
Kinda unfair to, I opted in years ago, great specs, own every blizzard game and updated them to my bnet account, yet no beta. RAAAAAGGGEEEE!!!! -
I can run wow at customized minimum settings (using a few / commands to lower some of the settings below what the menu allows for) on my Atom N330 with ION GPU with 4GB of RAM and a 5400RPM WD Green drive (read: slow) at 1080p and get about 25fps in Dalaran. The M11x has a LOT more GPU and CPU power. A LOT.
Seriously guys,
The M11x WILL RUN WoW JUST FINE. WoW IS NOT CPU DEPENDENT.
On newer GPUs, WoW utilizes them for all the rendering. Older systems WoW will tax the CPU harder when the GPU isn't available. When I'm in game in Dalaran north bank, my old laptop (Asus G2S-A1) would be at 15-25% CPU utilization. -
notepal infiniti from Amazon
-
@eggs I have half a snack pack with your name on it for that beta key
-
My buddy got the SC beta, he has "meh" system specs. The reason blizzard makes good games is because they beta test their products on all systems. You are just as likely to get into the beta with entry level and mid range system specs as you are with bleeding-edge specs. So far he says "It's cool" but he didn't sound super-impressed, so he has me nervous :\

i have searched a little on this forum and couldnt find the answer although im sure its somewhere here. but i'll just ask. if you choose the 2gb of ram selection do you get 2x1gb sticks or 1x2gb stick?
also i hear back and forth on this but does anyone know for certain if the su4100 can be overclocked in the bios? cause some say it cant and some say it has been confirmed to do so. thanks. -
2X1GB sticks. Its on the config bar to the right of the page. the SU4100 has been said to be able to OC by a rep.
-
Hey can you please tell if this system is available for order in india or not,coz i really await this machine ,and also the price of the base machine (in INR currency) and also will the indian customers get to customize thie system or not
-
Hi, first post, just joined! Really interested in buying this laptop.
Here's a link to a video that shows the silver color in more detail. Not sure if it was posted already, didn't see it on the front page. It's from Newgadget.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpkhuZo_APo
EDIT - He goes into detail showing the Alien FX and runs 3dMark2001.... with over 200fps?! Check it out, just finished the video myself lol -
Take note that they are running 3dMark2001 and not 3dMark2006. I don't even know why they bothered to even do that benchmark in the first place. Very pointless.
-
why not check the dell site for india or call and ask?

I honestly thought this was a joke post like the others until I read your next post. Dude, you kidding? I run WoW with medium settings on my ul30vt with the same processor and a 210m at 50 FPS.
The m11x will eat WoW for breakfast. -
SaosinEngaged Notebook Evangelist
As a side note, some of you are seriously selling this system short.
"Will it play this game? What about that"
The m11x will play every game on the market. It's been stated to run Crysis fairly well. That should tell you everything.
If you don't expect ultra high on every game with 900FPS, you will not be disappointed.
Really guys, this isn't a netbook with an Ion. The 335m is damn powerful, especially when you consider how small a computer it's in. -
I mean, no it will not run WoW at all. I mean come on it's not like it's a game that comes preloaded on the system.
-
SaosinEngaged Notebook Evangelist
It's a marketing ploy. They preload it to entice you to buy a m17x with dual GPUs, so you know, you can actually play WoW. -
I think everyone still expects it to have alienware m17x performance for 1/3 of the price and a much smaller form factor.
People need to curb their expectations. These are the same people who will never be happy with what they've got. It's not a frigging desktop replacement, it's a on to the go laptop, made to run on battery most of the time, yet it still handles most games well maintaining a good compromise of graphics details and FPS. -

I just thought it'd be interesting to note here that, I spoke to a sales rep at Best Buy today and he claimed they'd be selling m11x's out of the store.
You can now buy several AW products at BB, and it'd make sense that the m11x would probably be the hottest AW product for them.
IMO, if you're buying AW, you're not buying it from BB. I mentioned that and he said "yeah, we don't sell many units, but we're optimistic about the m11x."
Just thought it was interesting. Seems to confirm what Joker said about AW making a stronger retail presence. -

Hey man, before a mod gets to you, you should cut down that sig. It takes up too many lines. I was warned for that last week, and my sig was half yours. -
I actually get alot of fps drops when I play pong on my desktop.. so with that in mind, the m11x will definitely own itself trying to even play WoW with low settings and really tweaked graphics..
-
umm guys is the "lunar shadow" that bright grey? or is it that sexy gunmetal?
-
SaosinEngaged Notebook Evangelist
The lunar shadow is everything you've ever wanted it to be. (sexy gunmetal) -
THX i prey its not that bright sliver cuz that German review had that nasty sliver and really killed my hopes for grey...
but its gunmetal then EPIC!
-
Wow - too much info on the M11x, and I just don't have time to read through hundreds of pages. So I hope you'll go easy on me with my pre-ordering questions.
I basically plan to order a maxed out M11x - C2D CPU, 8GB RAM, WWAN and a 4yr Advanced Service Warranty. My big question is with the HDD. From searching here, I think the 256GB SSD option is basically a low performing Samsung SSD. But is this option worth the price? I ask because I'll likely get some discounts and such when I call to order, and I even got a 15% off flyer in the mail. I also think the SSD option should help with battery life, and it will be faster than the HDD options. So should I go for for the SSD option, or are there any BIOS issues with it? I believe going with a regular HDD, and then a SSD down the road will be more expensive.
Oh, and what's the best color?
-
Don't get 8gb of ram. For what you "can" do on the M11x, you won't ever come close to using that amount. Save your money. As for the SSD, that's your call. If it was me, I'd get an Intel or OCZ instead later.
-
I realize about the RAM, but the Alienware flyer mentioned a memory upgrade for double the RAM. If I play dumb, I just might be able to get that extra 4GB as well.
And I know the Intel and OCZ SSDs are better drives, but I have to run this purchase by my personal banker (the wife) and the only way it's going to fly is if I tell her I won't be upgrading this in the future. I already have a desktop for that, and she's getting close to cutting my purse strings!
So if I can get a decent discount on the M11x with the SSD option, then that'll be my route.
-
guys, stop being trolls about games like WoW not running. It will run on far-lesser systems.
Trolling with sarcasm, whether or not you sarcmark it, is going to just start confusion. Cut it out. -
Well dude, you live there on a short leash
)
-
Hi, first post here, but I'm trying to figure out if it will be worthwhile for waiting for the i7 chipset upgrades...if there are any (and that's what it sounds like). The SU7300 can be overclocked, so will the i7 processor do any better that that if it makes it to the M11x?
-
I don't think that we will see i7 in such lappy. i5 ulv maximum.
-
Yea, If you've waited this long, then I suggest waiting another 12 days or so till Cebit, who knows what will be announced by dell. I'm banking on 5780s for M17X, so thats why I've put off purchasing the R2, but I'm happy with the M11X the way it is. Just for work, and fun on the go. Nice and portable. It's going to be my very capable M17X mini me
-
Yes deff it is what it is for, little work on the go and some gaming, not made for extreme gaming, its just for little here and there, having loads of battery life, you want a gaming computer go buy the Alienware m15 or 17x.
-
Yeah, but I still get my toys.
-
Amazon has a goldbox deal for a 320gb hard drive if anyone is looking for extra storage.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/ref=pe_36550_14361600_pe_00_head -
Well the earliest I'll be able to order is in March, and that's when most of you guys will receive your lappys. As much as I want to wait and see, my current lappy sucks for gaming, and its heavy. And lastly while having the latest chipset is cool and all, is it any better than the SU7300?
-
You are asking us to compare m11x with your current laptop? Than you should show us what you have, lol
-
He was probably asking for the comparison to the i5/i7 ulv cores.
-
I meant to the i5/i7. The laptop I have is a running a C2D T7100 and a Nvidia Quadro FX 360M. (Don't laugh!)
-
The iX equivalents AW might use in this system are the ULV versions and those are kinda... ubernerfed if you get my gist. Performance wise... in terms of games, won't be all that big of a diff unless its RTSs which are CPU heavy, maybe 10%-15% last time I've heard.
-
BTw guys just to let you know us in the UK are getting ours from IRELAND from a place called "Raheen Limerick"
-
Oh and i just called DELL, apparently it takes 3-4days to get to the carriers and then they call you the day before to arrange a time
. So not gonna get it before the weekend
/cry
-
@Manutu They are all coming from China. Dell in limerick closed last year its an error on the labels.
-
Ye, I ordered mine from Denmark and also will have it from Ireland.
-
I suppose my post about how Dell are not in Ireland shall be ignored lol. They are gone guys, completely gone.
-
@Brian = the world sees not what it doesn't want to see
-
@nuke I shall write a book about the death of Dell Ireland from Ratheen Industrial estate. The loss of 2400 jobs, the shutting down of a state of the art production facility, and finally the effect of this on people who ordered an Alienware M11X in February 2010. Lol
-
NO! My laptop will be shipped from IRELAND !!!11111111111111111
