    No luck of the Irish in the construction factory then. Instead we get google pre-blocked, Evony pre-installed and our keyboards set to never allow 'democracy' to be typed! :p

    If we see a ULV i5, we will see a ULV i7. The only difference between the i5-5-520UM and the i7-620UM is the i7 has an extra 1MB cache and a slightly higher turbo frequency. Their base clock is exactly the same (1.06GHz).

    @Brian = a real pity mate. Real pity.

    @rpg = I'd rather give up the iX processors to avoid a potential throttlegate.

    Well, an ULV iX system couldn't possibly throttle if the current ULV C2D system in the M11x doesn't. In relation to the CPU/chipset, it outputs less heat and draws less power idling and under full load. But I don't want to get into another Core iX debate, they'll have to be offered eventually if the M11x lives on (C2D are being phased out) so you should be preparing yourself to embrace them. :p

    Jeepers. If this many posts are in the lounge threads for a product not even out yet, my guess is the mods will be puttin' in some serious OT when the units actually ship and people have them ;)

    Typically you can use an Analog and a Digital output at the same time. I cant say for certain if this is the case here, but it is traditionally.

    I've got an extra Media Center remote (the standard Microsoft model) that I would like to use with the m11x. I'll be using the matching USB sensor on another PC, which will be doing the recording, as it will need the attached IR repeaters to drive the channel changes on the satellite STBs. To be able to use the remote on the m11x I figure I need an extra IR sensor. Do you need the proper/matching Media Center sensor? Or will any old IR sensor do?

    Any recommendations?

    hey guys I didn't get the bluetooth option and would like to play some games using my PS3 controller via a micro bluetooth dongle. In reading the 3 parts of this thread at work I came across one that someone ordered that sits flush with the computer and you can barely tell it's there. Is anyone else ordering a BT dongle for their M11x?

    There are some really tiny bluetooth adapters out there - I have this one, which works just fine. (I have internal bluetooth on my M11x, but I use that dongle to use a SIXAXIS on my desktop computer.)

    This was briefly answered previously by another member but I wanted to elaborate for information's sake.

    When the overclock option is set to "Enabled" in the BIOS it raises the bus speed from 200MHz to 266MHz. The multiplier of the SU7300 is locked at x6.5 and cannot be adjusted (Speedstep technology may automatically adjust it to 4x in idle situations but you can not control this). I did this table up for you, mostly because I'm bored. The rated FSB is 4x the bus speed because Intel C2D systems transmit data four times in every one clock cycle (AKA quad-pumped).

    <COLGROUP><COL style='WIDTH: 85pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 4132' width=113><COL style='WIDTH: 124pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 6034' width=165><COL style='WIDTH: 131pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 6363' width=174>
    Overclock Disabled Enabled
    Base Bus Speed 200MHz 266MHz
    Rated FSB (x4) 800MHz 1066MHz
    CPU Speed 200MHz x6.5 = 1.3GHz 266MHz x6.5 = 1.73GHz
    RAM Speed 800MHz 1066MHz
    So if you have 1333MHz RAM, and run it with the OC disabled, it will downclock and run at 800MHz. If you run it with the OC enabled, it will also downclock it but run at 1066MHz. So, no need to get 1333MHz DDR3, unless it's cheaper.

    Just a question in regards to overclocking and undervolting. Is there a way to set the laptop to auto overclock when plugged in and underclock using the battery? Since I almost never game on battery, I like to disable a few multipliers on the CPU when on battery. If there is a way for the laptop to auto adjust the clock speed, that would be fantastic. Also, since I undervolt all of my laptops, is there a way to auto adjust the voltage as well? Like when it is overclocked, is there a way for the voltage to auto adjust itself to become more stable? I figured I should be able to get at least 7hr of battery life after both underclocking and undervolting.

    jonjonk. there would be no way to do that considering you overclock from the bios. the only way to change the clock speeds back would be going back to the bios.

    I guess another way is to lower the multipliers on the overclocked cpu.

    do they even have that option in the bios? i thought they just had basically an on/off switch in the bios to normal clock/overclock.

    @ icarus_II - yeah that's what I thought too... I thought that by hitting the "On" button to overclock that it would survive a reboot but I guess I may be wrong on that one

    @craigery
    At the expense of the cpu power. By limiting the multiplier, you are essentially weakening the cpu. Since there are many multipliers, you can turn off the number of multipliers based on need. If you are doing nothing but web surfing, MS word, and youtube watching, then you don't need a high powered cpu for that.

    Darkhan, don't toy with us anymore! At least a sneak peek pic!
    And darn, you have the silver, I wanted some nice pictures of the black one as I haven't seen one yet.

    @craigery and jonjonk:

    Actually, reducing multiplier/fsb will not change battery life that much if at all [knowing that the temperatures only change by maybe 1 degree. To actually make a huge difference in battery life, you need to undervolt/overvolt.
    Changing the multiplier/fsb makes it run faster which is true, but it is still drawing the same amount of power until you need to change the voltages.
