    Hey guys, long time lurker(guest) first time poster. First off, thanks everybody for all the info for swaying me onto the m11x bandwagon, i am a netbook enthusiast, but love to game. honestly i was about to buy one of the Asus ultraportables until i saw this pop up on netbooktech a few weeks ago, and the first thing i thought was that "i can finally afford an Alienware..." i cried.. i then applied for a Dell card account for the 7th time in a year and was approved, stars aligned.. its as if God wanted me to wait the m11x..

    anyways, i ordered mine on 2/15, i have a baby, i cant rush in on big decisions like this. my EDD is 3/19

    Please explain how a direct excerpt from the official M11x manual is speculation.

    We know from Intel that the SU7300 has a multiplier of x6.5. We know from the manual that the rated FSB is 1066MHz overclocked. As 1066MHz refers to four transfers per cycle, the base bus clock is therefore 266MHz. 266MHz x 6.5 = 1.73GHz.

    There was never any need for a production model (or a rep for that matter) to confirm the OC'd specs, it was just a case of working out the math.

    I guess I just was wondering in looking at the graphics card specs on games such as Batman Arkham Asylum where it says the optimal performance would be if you had an Nvidia 9800 GT card or higher... my question is, where does the Nvidia 335 card we are getting in the M11x stand? Is it considered high end?

    It is very simple, nowhere in the Manual were stated CPU clocks of 1.73ghz.
    Second, according to the only detailed review by HH the clock was set to 1.6ghz and clearly the multiplier was lowered to 6 instead of 6.5.
    So I think my question was reasonable, and now that this out of the way I can only wait for the arrival of my m11x...

    How does a 2.2 Ghz Pentium IV compare to the overclocked 1.73Ghz su7300?

    Thats the minimum requirement for starcraft2 btw. Check blizz support page.

    Assuming minimum is just barely playable, how much % improvement shall we expect from 7300?

    It was in an Alienware flyer I received in the mail. It's a one-time use non-stackable code, so I didn't want to post it until after I made the order.

    Is it realistic to expect the m11x with a 1.6ghz su9600 processor soon? Just an idea I got when reading about the new dell latitude Z which has that processor ( http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=5543). It would be awesome if we could overclock it to 2ghz ^^

    M11X will run SC2 on all high/ultra easily. It is a very GPU dependent game, and the 335M will have no trouble.

    Is that the one with the alien head with "Shall We Play A Game" on the front? I got one with that on it and it just says 15% off on gaming gear on the back and I don't know if that includes the M11X or not. I guess I could just go put it in (that's what she said).

    With Civ V revealed today, my urge to play Civ IV kicked and and I am loving the thought of playing Civ games anywhere.

    Even at stock speeds, the su7300 is way faster than an old P4, even at 2.2ghz.

    I can't find an exact benchmark for that speed, but if you look on notebookcheck you'll see they have benchmarks for 1.7 and 2.8GHz P4s. The SU7300 smokes both of them in SuperPi - a single-threaded benchmark (so having 2 cores doesn't help it, each core of the su7300 is that much faster).
    SU7300,2.8P4,1.7P4
    37 vs 60 vs 113 seconds for pi to the 1 millionth digit
    85 vs 110 (vs ?) seconds for pi to the 8 millionth digit
    2059 vs 2477 vs 5800 seconds for pi to the 32 millionth digit

    It also scores better in whetstone, 3dmark 06 CPU (although the 2.8ghz isn't benchmarked), dhrystone and whetstone. Basically, it's all around a better CPU, even if the clock speed seems low.

    Well, that article is misleading. The multiplier was clearly "Speedstepped" down during the CPU-Z screenshot. Sure if the SU7300 had a multiplier of 6, under normal conditions (i.e. not overclocked), it's max clock would be 1.2GHz. It doesn't though, it's max clock is 1.3GHz (200*6.5).

    Anyway, I can now see why you wanted to seek clarification when you've got information like that going around.

    the 335m is a pretty strong card.. it's just the CPU might bottleneck you playing latest games like batman..
    there's probably a way to tweak the settings to make it playable, but playable with high graphics.. should be crossed out loong ago.. if you look at the lowest 9800 card on that list and compare 3dmark05 scores ..it's just as close to what a 335m would be

    The only thing left really is to actually try to play the game :T. I wouldn't be surprised if it ran somehow.. but you'll never know!

    9800gt desktop version is

    * 112 Stream Processors
    * 512-1024MB of GDDR3 memory
    * 256-bits Memory Interface Width
    * 600 MHz Graphics Clock
    * 1500 MHz Processor Clock
    * 900 MHz Memory Clock
    * Texture Fill Rate (billion/s) 33.6
    * Memory Bandwidth (GB/s) 57.6
    * DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, OpenGL 3.2, and PCI-Express 2.0.
    * Supports 2nd generation PureVideo HD technology with partial VC1 decoding.

    9800gt notebook version is
    from wiki
    9800M GT [7]

    * G92 core.
    * 96 Stream Processors.
    * 500 MHz core clock.
    * 1250 MHz shader clock.
    * 800 MHz memory clock.
    * 256 bit memory interface.
    * 51.2 GB/s memory bandwidth.
    * 24.0 billion texels/s texture fill rate.
    * 360 GigaFLOPS.

    9800M GTX [8]

    * G92 core.
    * 112 Stream Processors.
    * 500 MHz core clock.
    * 1250 MHz shader clock.
    * 800 MHz memory clock.
    * 256 bit memory interface.
    * 51.2 GB/s memory bandwidth.
    * 28.0 billion texels/s texture fill rate.
    * 420 GigaFLOPS.

    so the 9800GT desktop version is more like a 9800mgtx with higher clock

    the 335m is

    Series GeForce GT 300M
    Codename n11p-gs1
    Pipelines 72 - unified ( Stream Processors.)
    Core Speed * 450 MHz
    Shader Speed * 1080 MHz
    Memory Speed * 1066 MHz
    Memory Bus Width 128 Bit

    which is much slower..
    and when compare to desktop version card..
    it is like 9600 GT and 9600GSO just abit slower
    as 335m with slower memory system.. 128 bit memory instead of 256/192 bit on the 9600s

    @furyagain- I see your point. What I was referring to is the 9800 GT card being on the high end of the spectrum, so I know maybe the 335 won't compare side by side with that one

    When paired with a low res screen like on the m11x the 335mgt is perfectly adequate. It is likley to be much of a likness to the 9xxx due to the difference in resolution.

    I purchased my M11x at 6am on 2/3. A week ago I was bumped from 3/8 ship date to 3/3. I'm hoping it get's shipped sooner of course, but I think I may be one of the few who is actually patient in this forum. heh

    Of course, I have been refeshing this thread like once every hour for like two weeks as my anticipation is just too damn high. OMG can't wait for some user benchmarks!

    Batman isn't too CPU dependant. I overclocked my desktop i5 from 2.6GHz to 4GHz, and didn't gain that much frames. (GTX 260 SLI + GT240 Physx).

    Actually, Borderlands is a little different. I highly doubt you will be able to fully max it on the M11x. I am pretty sure that this game will be able to run pretty well with decent settings.
