Then that answers the question! Overclocked SU7300, here I come! I'm guessing that I'll receive mine at the end of March.

Yeah, one of the videos I saw showed that the Borderlands settings had to be turned down just a notch to get smooth playback. It didn't say exactly what the settings were though.

The fact that this thing is maxing some games at all is more than impressive. Don't sell the 335m short. Don't forget it's being paired with a lower res screen.

The 335m on an 11.6inch screen is MUCH different than using it on a 17inch 1920/1080 screen.

Don't forget that you can run this thing through your TV via HDMI. Just set the resolution to 720p and you will have one hell of a gaming "console"!

I'd like to see how well it odes when it's connected to a big screen through HDMI, but it's still pretty impressive that a netbook sized machine is preforming this good.

go to youtube and type in "ign review of m11x" and you will see they talk about borderlands.

Borderlands does not run on full max over 30fps..but most settings on high it gets around 30fps..they say its "well playable".

what was the cpu with the 330m? SC2 looks cpu dependent.

Just so there's no confusion, it's just like you said in your first paragraph. The lower screen resolution will play a part in improved performance versus a higher resolution screen. Actual size has nothing to do with with it.

If our little 11.6 inch screen had a whopping 1920x1080 resolution, the performance would be the same as a 17 inch screen at 1920x1080.

you know what, I think I have a pretty good way to test lots of games in an "emulated" m11x state...anyone interested?

See my idea is to run games with affinity checked for 1 "hyper-thread" each of two cores on my i7 720-qm with turbo boost disabled. My 230M will obviously hinder the gameplay a little, but that just means it will play that much better on the m11x. I can run the games at 1366x768 to replicate the m11x resolution, and the graphics card should be as comparable as possible with the 1GB of GDDR3 ram on both cards. Maybe I'll even set the frequencies the same using rivatuner?

At 1.6ghz on two cores affinity with the i7-720qm, that should roughly equal the c2d at 1.73ghz, although it will be a little off due to the increased cache. The incremental improvements to clock efficiency should be handled by the difference between 1.6 and 1.73ghz.

BigTymer and Darkhan, it would be great if you could run a few tests I could replicate to see if this is as good a comparison as I think it could be. It would at least help me see how the m11x will perform even if nobody else cares about this kind of comparison :)

If he was gonna simulate the m11x performance then he would also have to reduce the resolution down to match the 11 inch screen. Therefore none of this really matters hat much as this is incredibly powerful hardware for the screen size and the resolution. The m11x IS a gaming machine.

    @ eggs

any info/tests you would be kind enough to provide would be very nice and keep us all busy until we get our m11x's.

re your 230m v 330m comparable comment im supprised you say they are on par - nvidia ( http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_m_series.html) has them a few cards away from each other.

anyway the info i think a lot of us would like to hear is about the SC2 beta. with ur emulated m11x, what settings were playable in a large battle ?

330m is closer to 240m.. each new generation the 2nd number goes down and it's more comparable. so like 335m is probably more closer to 250m but they're all pretty close. since the 230m is significantly weaker than 330m, that bodes better for us M1x owners.

    "512MB NVIDIA GeForce G 105M - For i3, i5 and i7-620QM Processors
    1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 320M - For i3, i5 and i7-620QM Processors"

    i do not see a 230m options ?

i could post vids or screenies but i doubt they would be of much use, I'm terrible at the game and would rather not everyone be aware of how bad I am at it.

I still have yet to try the emulated m11x thing with sc2 beta, im trying to figure out a way to turn off turboboost without having to be in power saver mode which may affect other parts of the "emulation" so to speak.

    OFF-TOPIC WALL OF TEXT
The game is really quite amazing, I chatted with a friend about this in so much detail but I unfortunately lost all of it.

Basically, it's like this: you can see why it took blizzard so long, everything is so smooth and fluid! It's like we (unfortunately) skipped past a whole lotta sequels and they renamed starcraft 10 as starcraft 2. Everything is THAT nice.

It's really the little things, like if you played a lot of starcraft you probably remember how you could tell all your SCVs to harvest one mineral deposit, and they would all go after it, slow down, try to harvest, fail and then accelerate towards another mineral deposit. Whether or not pros chose the micro this particular thing Im not sure but I'm certain you could shave some valuable resource harvesting by telling each scv to go to a specific deposit.

So anyway, in SC2 when you do this type of thing its like the SCVs dont have to accelerate, or not as much and when they get to that deposit they are much quicker to disperse to other deposits, like as quick as you can imagine. And it looks SO SMOOTH when they do it too.

I know that may not make a lot of sense, and in fact I could be wrong about this mechanic, but thats the kinda feel I get when I play it, that everything is smooth and perfect. You can feel the polish this game has gotten over the last ten years or whatever and it makes you feel good. It's really in a league of its own.

As an additional thing I happen to be thinking about, its again all the little things, like how when your units go down a ramp, they still run into each other like in SC1 but they instead form as squished a line as possible to make the best use of the ramp space. If you're attacking something right beyond the bottom of the ramp, your units stuck behind will struggle to get by as the front lines shoot, but then you select them all again and move past the ramp and they immediately fall in line, wasting no valuable micro time as they do so.

It's almost a double edged sword though because now you're so much more aware of every little minute detail, especially when playing against seemingly the mass of aggressive players online right now. When you accidentally take an SCV away from a mineral deposit too soon because he cant build the barracks quite yet, you hate yourself for wasting valuable time that could have been spent harvesting. With everything as perfect as it is, it really comes down to getting every action right, and for someone who was never "pro" at starcraft in every sense of the word, it's daunting to be beat over and over again by the vastly superior players in the beta right now.

One last thing, zerg feels really really really changed now, I find myself tripping over all the new zerg mechanics, terran and protoss seem way too easy in comparison. I'm sure I'd get better over time but wow it's insanely hard to get used to zerg in comparison to SC1 IMHO.

they changed it up since I bought it, it used to have a 230M in it like around november when I bought it. As far as I know, the 330M is a refreshed 230M that's not much different, but you earlier said that wasn't really the case. :)

I'm not ordering this until we see some real benchmarks from real owners for games such as Modern Warfare 2, COD4, World at War, etc. I'm running Core i7 920 with GTX275 SLI at home, so I'm quite spoiled with framerates. Just need to know how much I'm going to have to give up with the m11x.

Well, the arrival thread blew up. LOL should have known. Lesson learned. Be more detailed on posting reqs.

Sorry guys... no reserved spots for that one. I'm half tempted to pull the reserved spots from the benchmark thread as well. There is no reason for it since DR will maintain a list - but for now, I'll leave them. Lets see how it plays out. Just trying to make it fun for everyone...

Yeah not a fan of the reserved slots, please delete the threads and make them with new rules. Because it shouldn't be like that. It should show right away pictures or benchmarks of the people who already have it instead of trying to go through tons of pages and looking at everyone say *reserved for bla bla*

Not dissing the 30VT, it is a great laptop. Just pointing out the 30VT is a better buy for people wanting to play 3D games than the JT, since at least $200 cheaper than the JT and will play 3D games just as fast, since the gpu is the bottleneck- not the cpu :)

Someone on slickdeals who got his posted this

"I ran the CS source benchmark, with standard/recommended settings at 1366x678 I got an avg 140.57 fps. With reflect world, 8X MSAA and 2X filtering I got 130.99fps.

In game with 8x MSAA and 2x filtering, I constantly get 80+fps. Gaming is very smooth with CS source, will probably try other games later. "

My expectation is basically - it will run nearly everything out right now at roughly xbox 360 quality (30 FPS, high-ISH medium settings, not max, 720p)

That is a guess, obviously some things like supcom will run like butt, and other (GPU dependent) titles will fly
