    There's a fairly good amount of us in the forums.. I think more that aren't part of this community. My guess one of the assembly lines are complete utter fail. :|
    we should get free HDD upgrades.

    But since technically it's not "late" .. we are screwed.

    My order was on 2/3 as well and I am stuck in build purgatory! I just thought it was because of the 8gb of RAM or something.

    @ceo

    yes, but youd have to add the 3rd antenna for the 5300 which means disassembling the LCD

    @tymon

    not the ram as thats what i bought. i would think it would make you LESS likely to be delayed as the 8gb option is definitely in the minority.

    Here is a couple pics of the belkin messenger bag. Its fits pretty snug along with the a/c cord and my logitech g7.

    The bag next to it is a messenger diaper bag for my son.

    Anyone get the Alienware Orion Messenger Bag? I know it's kind of expensive from Dell, but it can be had cheaper. I was thinking that should hold the M11x, power adapter, mouse, external optical drive and a gaming headset.

    @basehitter

    yeah, i'm asking the same thing... :D i can't imagine it would be that big a difference, but then again, nor am i the most knowledgeable about it. :eek:

    obviously we don't know until someone tries it, but what would be the impact on an extremely cpu-dependant game, ie gta iv? gaming aside, the SU4100 has recieved praise as snappy.. :confused:

    I already ordered my m11x with the su4100, I'll mostly be using it for WoW, SC2, and school work, so I decided to just save the $100 and put it towards an intel ssd :)

    I've had that messenger bag for awhile now and it holds my HP311.
    It's great :). A little compact when I have my binder +netbook +pens etc. in there.. but I like it. if I get bored I might pick up a crazy alienware bag :p

    Yes it can but it can look like it's really full even though you can squeeze stuff in there.

    Here's what I have that gives off that "fat" look
    TI-84 Calculator
    Small Binder
    HP311.
    PSU Charger
    Lab Manual about 2 inches.
    Lots of Pens
    Stapler
    Mouse
    and there's still room to put a decent size notebook IMO
    it can feel cramp if you put more and more

    and also if you're one of those people who like lengthy messenger bags.. reconsider.. because this falls right around my buttox and i'm .. maybe 5'8"-5'10"
    haha I like that though but just in case you guys don't..
    The pictures posted btw doesn't show the extra removeable pocket that is suppose to be where you're going to put the power cords and such.
    I usually put that removeable pocket where you see that side slot in the first picture posted! :D
    ahha alright i'm done sharing and talking about my school bag >_+;

    Anyone in the US looking for a bag might want to check TJ Max as they have excellent name brand quality bags @ deep discounts.

    Got a Kenneth Cole Leather messenger bag for $30 (Amazon $85) but availability/price and selection is always a YMMV with TJ Max. Also zippered Neoprene Netbook sleeves < $10

    What is this option for:

    Bluetooth Module 2.1+ Enhanced Data Rate

    What advantages does it give you if you chose to put it in your m11x?

    You'll be able to use Bluetooth devices with the m11x. Be aware that you will NOT have Bluetooth capability at all if you don't check the box, so just fork over the $20 for it.

    Most people want bluetooth in the laptop for bluetooth enabled mice, headphones, and transfering data between laptop and cellphone.

    All wireless of course and no dongles. Keep in mind whatever you use has to be a bluetooth enabled item.

    Guys, this may have already been mentioned but does it come with a windows 7 disc or a backup disc? I see a disc in the pics but i'm not sure what it is whether its just drivers or something. Basically will i need to make a back up as soon as it arrives incase anything happens in the future? And what sort of size would the backup generally be? Can i get away with using a usb stick or will i need to get a external dvd drive?

    I sure hope so. It does look like the current m11x owners received their laptops at least 9 days sooner than their EDD.

    I ordered mine on 2/13, so maybe I'll get it by the end of this week (2/26) or early next week (3/1). This is all speculation though -_-

    Texas here. At this moment, I'm guessing around 3 weeks total time from order to ship. I am sure Mon and Tues will see alot of people who ordered early like me see their build status/in production status updated to shipped.

    It does come with a Windows 7 Home Premium CD. There is some sort of Dell Backup program installed as well but I haven't looked into it. Well I'm pretty sure any basic USB pen these days will have at least DVD capacity but you'd obviously need an external opticl drive to use the included OS CD.

    Ok here's a quick question, just because I've never done the research.

    I have a 256GB SSD with TRIM. I'm going to use it in the M11X. Can I just pull the current HDD out and clone it? What drivers am I going to need to change?

    You want to clone a blank dell Image that comes with the PC?

    IMHO you're better off doing a fresh install so that windows can prep your SSD the way it needs to and you're guaranteed not to have any bugs or issues. There's really no reason to clone a blank image, it will take you longer than reinstalling windows 7 and reinstalling the 3 or 4 Dell drivers on your SSD Manually.

    If you're worried about losing the Alienware backgrounds just pull them off onto a USB Stick before switching out your SSD and copying them back. Thats all you'll miss out on.

    Reformat for the win IMHO

    Thanks, the main reason is that I don't have an external optical, so I'm assuming I can just copy the disk to a thumb drive and go from there. I'll give it a whirl. Thanks again. I'm going to keep the HDD that comes with it in a drawer, just in case. Not too concered with the alienware backgrounds as I have plenty of my own, but I'll pull them out anyway. Won't hurt Thanks again.

    +1 do a fresh install. If you plan to sell the HDD then clone that image incase you want to sell the machine in the future.

    I always do a fresh install, its one of the neat things about a new machine :D

    Yeah this is what I'm doing, expecting to take delivery sometime soon this week so I've got my tools ready :)

    Buy a USB thumb drive 4 or 8 GB, (you'll use it a lot if you're getting this PC anyway) Find a computer with a CDROM drive (desktop, whatever) and copy the CD you'll receive from Dell to the USB drive. The CD contains Bios level windows authentication keys which is why you've gotta wait for it.

    You might have to do a low level format on the USB Key prior to this to make it accept boot level files to be written to its boot sector. Using the Win 7 cd, there is a procedure to make the USB stick bottable by copying NT60 bootfiles to it prior to copying the cd contents.

    All this info is online and is the best way to set up the M11x but requires somewhat advanced knowledge (well, not really.)

    If you need help PM me and i'll see what I can do to help.
