Mine shows only 10LBS......hope everything is in it. Would really stink if it finally shows up and I have four empty boxes!!!!

 

According to the mythical fedex tracking number . .
Mine is 9.0lbs / 4.1KG

The M15X I also have on order shows as 18.0lbs / 8.2KG

If either of them ever get actually picked up by Fedex and delivered than I wil confim . . .

 

yeah, mine came exactly like the unboxing pics/video... all was packaged exactly the same, but label did show 18lbs... think its just a Dell labeling error.

Very well packaged though!

 

Any flash video with 720p resolutin or lower should play fine on the cpu. However, for 1080p flash you would need to use flash 10.1 as it adds hardward decryption support from the nvidia gpu.

 

Got my laptop in, my nameplate got cut off like its did not do all of the characters in my name, pretty disappointing

 

call dell or aw customer support. they will ask for a picture and then they will put in an order so you get a new one

 

Easy fix at least, tell them, they should be able to send you a new one you can screw on instead.

 

there "checking" to see if they can send me a new nameplate, or if they have to send a new computer.

It will be pathetic if they can not send a new nameplate

edit: 40 minutes on the phone so far, no progress about nameplate

 

i did my clean install as i wanted win7 pro and i wanted the recovery partition gone. its my fault for assuming the drivers would be available from dell.

 

I got mine today, my note on the door worked and he left it as request. In fact, I am typing this very post on it. If I was asked to describe it in 1 word, WOW!

This is a seriously awesome laptop, light, cool (both temperature and appearance) and really fast. So far just loving it.

My package was 10 pounds, for those worrying about the weight.

Also, I never saw this mentioned, but the Black paint has some shiny specs in it which really gives it an awesome looking depth. It really looks like nice high quality auto paint.

 

Yeah there were some screenshots in the arrival thread that showed the awesome paint job of the black one. I am glad I did not get the Lunar Shadow but for the past week or so I had been regretting getting black heh.

 

What drivers are missing??? Because I will be do the same thing when mine comes in. Are the drivers on the disk that it came with???

says who? Every dell i've had without ordering the WWAN has had the aerial cables installed.

If you were able to cancel your order before getting your unit, no money has been withdrawn from your account. They only have temp authorization before they build your laptop and only when it ships is when they actually take money out of your account.

A while back, Darkan confirmed that if you don't order the Gobi card, the WWAN will not be installed in your LCD. With my order, for example, it shows 11.6 WLED LCD w/WWAN

 

Don't have regrets,the Lunar finish looks really cheap in my opinion,I was hoping it would have a more metallic sheen ,anyways be glad you ordered black

To be quite honest,I could get a can of spray paint and make it look better than my Lid looks,at this point that is the only thing I am bummed about.The only reason I didn't order cosmic black was because I thought the contrast of Silver/grey against the black palm rest would be cool.

So I just got mine in and installed my own SSD. Turns out that I can't find where to get the AlienFX software for my new installation and there's a few device drives missing even after installing everything on the Dell site. Any advice?

 

the WWAN socket will be there, just no WWAN PCI card. I am sure the aerial will be there also (every dell i've ordered without WWAN has had it) but even if it isn't, its not hard to install one.

 

I ordered black solely because all my last few laptops have been all silver or silver and black. Just wanted something different.

Funny. The complaints are either the black being a fingerprint magnet or the silver not being shiny enough. I could have sworn people also went silver since it was less shiny and didn't attract fingerprints because of that.

 

I hope this is the case (Canadian model has no option for WWAN ) but from what I have seen there are 2 different models of the screen one with and with out WWAN. So I am assuming that is one screen has the aerials installed and one doesn't.

 

I live in NW Phoenix and ordered on 2/3 as well. Mine should be here tomorrow.

I'm a big black finish fanatic so no buyers remorse here at least not yet .. when they release a better CPU spec with better stuff on the m11x.. then I'll probably have one then.

i still RAGEEE at the fact mine hasn't shipped.. that 160GB HDD seems plausible.. because I got one of those and someone else up there said that.. but that's just ridiculous

I don't think it's the HDD. I opted for the 320gb and mine hasn't shipped yet. ordered 2/2.

If you want to open up your LCD to install the antennae, go right on ahead. With my limited computer hardware knowledge, I would never do such a thing. From multiple sources, I'm pretty sure if you don't order the Gobi, you will not get the WWAN.

 

Yes, everything is there for the card except the antenna cables.
However as far as I have been informed, you usually have to replace the whole display to one that includes the cables.

 

you can just fit the antenna behind the existing display and route the cables down to the wwan bit of a pain to do but its not too hard.

 

I've ordered one of these to use, will let you know how it goes.

If you find the right antenna cables and manage patch them through and into the display, i'd like to hear how you did it.

I would very much like to have WWAN.
I would even buy the whole display if it is not too expensive and I would be able to replace it.

 

its pretty lame imo that uk didnt get the option to add wwan.now im going to have to void my warranty to fit something that dell should have given you the option to add.

 

they billed you before you received it ? mine is being delivered 2moz and i still havnt been billed...

I'm sure its not your 320gb HD. I order on the 3rd and got it today which included SU 7300, 4 GB DDR 3 and 320GB 7200rpm HD (black finish)

 

I wonder if I could fit a Mini PCI-E SSD in that slot...I have a spare 4GB one I could use for ReadyBoost, if that would work. Only problem is, I don't have the retaining screws...

 

I received mine today, and have yet to be billed either.... I'm sure it's coming, but so far nothing has hit yet, and I have my full availble credit, which means that they haven't billed yet...

IE- I bought breakfast and then gas today on the same Amex, and those are both shown already, but not the Dell purchase. So I wouldn't worry... I'm sure it'll hit when they feel like billing.

Dell rep's then activate the Dell Laser Satellite and remove the offending perp.

 

Then alienware will send the mothership after you, and will then know if you have it's baby alien. Lol.

 

You cannot cancel it so late in the process.

 

I was set on a black m11x, but last minute switched to silver because of that finger print issue. I don't mind the color either way. The m11x is too sexy for any person to NOT notice it.
