It seems unlikely they would do a swap. But I am as always hopeful for you :)

If it's under warranty and he complains about them I can see them doing it.

How come your P is low and GPU is high? I'm the opposite. Maybe due to my Defect CrossFireX and ES QX9300.. lol !!!

    My first try.
Everything stock except CPU (@3.20GHz). PhysX off.

Is that what I should be getting? Can I get it higher? I'll run again when I get my SSD.

Edit: nvm. figured out gtx 170m is the old name of gtx 260m.

Last question, do I need the game installed to run the game benchmarks? If not, I'll run those benchmarks now too.

Why is everyone pushing this? :D Man, I'm telling ya...It seems that I have worn out my laptop already. The fans on the left GPU(my left when facing the laptop) makes a vibrating noise before it shuts off and start up. And sometimes, When it start up, both GPU fans gets really loud. So loud that it sounds liek it's about to take-off. LOL... Then I get a chance to see my desktop every 5th boot. Then of course the blue screen of death. what else can go wrong? I don't know yet. * sigh *

Maybe due to benching too much, it could be a lot of things.

What else did you change in your system ? just the CPU ?..

Benching to much should not be causing any problems because if that were the case then gaming to much would also cause problems and thats what the machines are built for to begin with :)..

As for pushing the trade scenario i just suggested it because it sounds like you were never very happy with the ATIs and maybe the Nvidias will give you some more happiness ;)...

3.2Ghz, gee that looks familiar. I had better luck with 10 x 1280:1280 rather than just jumping my multiplier to 12 but they did both work. Just my scores were better with the faster FSB.

I have to say, although I've only owned this thing for a few days now and had win 7 fully installed and configured for about 30 hours.. the ATI's are a blast.

Reng.. my left fan also makes a strange noise when it spins at low RPMS. However, since I've already gutted this computer I see the fan is really a small compontent and my warranty will sort it out.

As far as stability I have yet to have a single BSOD and the ATI's have been rock solid in every game I've tried. Sure when the GPUS get going it sounds like a space ship but thats why I bought this thing.

Sorry you arent having a good time, for me i counted windows boots in 12 seconds (LOL) from the time the bios finishes its thing and windows splash screen shows up.

Only real issue i'm having is the OSD seems to want to disappear when i move from discreet to integrated and only sometimes. Reinstall of service seems to sort it so the set up file for that is now a link under my alienware group in the start menu, LOL.

Bad luck mate. I'd call dell and just return it, then order another one.

Side note: My truck got total just now 1:45 A.M. How am I going to bench now? It was parked in front of my house. Stupid driver always speeding around here.

I'm always up by 3:30am CST it seems.

Your luck keeps getting worse. Warn people who walk by you in the streets. ;)
At least you weren't in the truck.

Back on topic: From what you have said before and from my experience with the nVidia cards it is much easier to OC those GPUs then the ATIs. If your into benchmarking you might want to consider the nVidia cards, plus it will give you Hybrid SLI capabilities.

i can see your CPU score was higher. But i don't think i will ever come close to P11k with 260's. I'll try again with higher FSB. Thanks for the tip. (and for the awesome proc :p )

and anything about my last question?

yes. I was hitting much higher numbers then that honestly. I was 100 average to 150 max. No lie. I have to see what driver I was using at that time. I just ran out to get a title for a car so I canlt do anything right now at the moment.

I see he set his proc @3.06Ghz. Tell him to see if the system is stable if he sets his FSB and Memory to 1280 and his multiplier to 10. If it is then do another 3dmark06 run.

that 255 is a software bug, notice it is (2^8)-1....

Your chip did not get anywhere near that temp.....that would be 491 f which is where alot of stuff melts/burns haha

    (2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2)-1 (2 raised to the 8th power)

And you are a Comp Sci major?! You know computers are all binary right.... :) Means there is an 8-bit number being used to express temps (with 0 to 255 being the limit of what those 8 bits can represent)

    Jk, enjoy the lesson :)
